Trail Creek Campground Introduce
Welcome to Trail Creek Campground, a well-regarded camping destination located in the scenic Big Horn County of Montana, USA. If your search for "camping near me" prioritizes a well-maintained environment with essential amenities, shade for tenting, and a welcoming atmosphere, Trail Creek Campground appears to be an excellent choice based on recent visitor feedback. This campground offers a comfortable and secure base for exploring the natural beauty of Montana.
One of the first things that stands out about Trail Creek Campground is its excellent maintenance. Visitors have specifically noted that the campground is "well maintained," suggesting that campers can expect a clean and orderly environment. This attention to upkeep contributes significantly to a positive camping experience, ensuring that facilities are in good condition and the overall area is pleasant to stay in.
For those planning to camp in tents, Trail Creek Campground offers a desirable feature: "mostly shady" tenting spots. Shade is highly valued by campers, especially during the warmer months, as it provides relief from the sun and helps to keep tents cooler. The abundance of shade at Trail Creek Campground suggests a comfortable and enjoyable experience for tent campers.
Each campsite at Trail Creek Campground is well-equipped with essential amenities. According to visitor reviews, every site includes a fire ring, a picnic table, and a bear box. Fire rings provide a designated and safe place for campfires, essential for cooking and enjoying the ambiance of a campfire. Picnic tables offer a convenient surface for meals and other activities. The inclusion of a bear box at each site is a significant safety feature in bear country, allowing campers to securely store food and scented items to prevent attracting bears, similar to the praised feature at other Montana campgrounds.
While the campsites are well-equipped, one reviewer noted that firewood was not available at the site they observed. Campers planning to have campfires should therefore plan to bring their own firewood or inquire about nearby sources where it can be purchased. This is a common practice at many campgrounds, and being prepared for this will ensure a smoother camping experience.
Trail Creek Campground also boasts ample restroom facilities, with reviewers mentioning "multiple bathrooms" on site. Easy access to a sufficient number of restrooms is a significant convenience for campers, especially for families and larger groups, and contributes to the overall comfort and hygiene of the campground.
Adding to the communal amenities, Trail Creek Campground features a gazebo and multiple additional picnic tables. A gazebo can provide a sheltered area for gatherings or relaxation, while extra picnic tables offer more space for campers to spread out and enjoy meals or activities. These shared facilities enhance the social aspect of the campground and provide added convenience.
A unique natural feature of Trail Creek Campground is the presence of a natural spring that runs by the campgrounds. The sound of a natural spring can create a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere, and it may also attract local wildlife, adding to the natural charm of the location. Campers should, however, always verify the potability of any natural water sources before consumption.
Parking for tent campers is conveniently located along the paved road, with a "very short walk to the sites." This easy access between parking and the tenting areas simplifies the process of loading and unloading gear, making the setup and takedown of camp much more convenient. The paved road also suggests well-maintained infrastructure within the campground.
The cost of staying at Trail Creek Campground, as reported by one visitor, was $18 per night. The reviewer deemed this price "well worth it," indicating that the amenities, maintenance, and overall experience provided good value for the cost. This price point is similar to that of other well-regarded campgrounds in Montana, suggesting a competitive and reasonable rate for the quality offered.
Finally, the campground host at Trail Creek Campground is described as "very welcoming and kind." A friendly and helpful host can greatly enhance the camping experience by providing assistance, information about the area, and a general sense of welcome. This personal touch contributes to the positive reputation of Trail Creek Campground.

Trail Creek Campground Reviews
This is a well maintained campground. The tenting spots are mostly shady, every site has a fire ring, picnic table and bear box. No wood available at the site that we saw. There are multiple bathrooms at this site as well as a gazebo and multiple picnic tables. There is a natural spring that runs by the campgrounds. Parking for tents was just along the paved road which was a very short walk to the sites. We paid $18 per night to stay here. Well worth it.The campground host was very welcoming and kind.
