Very nice campground with large site's. Easy to get in 4.5 miles off or rt 13. I wish the sites were a little more level then they are, but I've seen worse. The restrooms were decent with hot showers. The pond is large great for kayaking. Great hiking and Frisbee golf course. The dump stations were clean with plenty of room. I recommend camping here.

Jun 21, 2024 · Emily MaliszewskiThis place is a hidden gem. A beautiful and well kept state park that offers lots of activities for visitors. The main attraction is the rather large campground. Beautifully maintained campsites offer a clean but slightly more "rustic" camping experience while offering several planned activities for visitors and boat rentals during the summer months. We live nearby but still take the opportunity to camp here very often! We just finished a 3 day stay in one of our favorite winter getaways, the camping cabins. The cabins offer heating and cooling for all season comfort, electricity, as well as a mini fridge. There are bikes you can borrow to cruise around the park and explore all the beauty and wildlife Trap Pond has to offer. Truly an amazing family friendly and affordable park with phenomenal staff to help with anything you may need.
Feb 13, 2024 · Holly McGownA really great camping experience. Very affordable and well worth every dollar spent. The campground offers free bike rental. There's wood and ice to buy on site, as well as a little store for any souvenirs or forgotten necessities. The facilities are well maintained. There's also a playground and pavilion. There's another playground across the pond too. Not sure of the schedule but when I was there, there was a Rita's Italian ice truck set up next to the kayak rental.
Aug 19, 2023 · Victoria FlorimontTrap pond is located on a beautiful Bald Cypress lake. There was a small soft launch and pier at the end of the campground loop, and I was able to go kayaking several times. The kayaking was beautiful, especially near the western end of the pond where you can paddle amongst the Cypress trees. We camped there during the week when the park was mostly empty. The campsites are situated quite close together and as the park filled towards the weekend I felt it would be overly congested when full. The natural beauty of the pond was offset by the noisy envorinment. Gas leaf blowers were used regularly around the campground to clear the pine needlas from the paths and around the bathroom facilities. Also the dumpsters were emptied at 07:00am and it sounded like they were banging each dumpster multiple times to shake out the contents. There was also some kind of event in the day use area with a firetruck driving around and around with sirens blaring and honking the horn for over an hour. I know this sounds petty, but many people go camping to enjoy the serenity of nature. My campsite (B15) had a low point right where the RV steps are, with a muddy patch about 15 ft in diameter. I had to gather pine needles to spread out on the mud so it wouldn't stick to my shoes. The campsite was located at the end of the loop and was only a short walk to the kayak launch which was nice. The campground was well maintained. There are some large trees which can make maneuvering your rig into the space a bit challenging. There is a very nice network of multipurpose trails and beautiful country roads to enjoy bicycling. Overall the park is very well maintained, and all the rangers and staff were very friendly.
