Shawn's Hideaway Introduce
Looking for "camping near me"? Shawn's Hideaway, located at 24373 Blue Blvd, Millsboro, DE 19966, USA, presents a unique camping environment that primarily caters to seasonal and year-round residents. You can reach them at (302) 945-3133 or their mobile number, +1 302-945-3133, for inquiries, keeping in mind their apparent focus on longer-term stays.
Based on the available customer reviews, Shawn's Hideaway offers a glimpse into a close-knit community. One long-time visitor, who initially went there for tree work, described it as a "nice little community full of both seasonal and year round residents." This suggests a stable and established group of people who have made Shawn's Hideaway their long-term camping destination. The reviewer also noted that "most everyone I came across was very friendly and helpful," highlighting a positive social atmosphere within the community.
The environment of Shawn's Hideaway seems to have some appealing natural features. The mention of climbing "their tall pines" suggests a setting with mature trees, possibly providing shade and a natural aesthetic. Additionally, the campground boasts a "nice little marina on the bay" and "plenty of room to fish," indicating a waterfront location that would be attractive to boating and fishing enthusiasts. This access to the bay is a significant feature that enhances the recreational opportunities for those staying at Shawn's Hideaway long-term.
However, it's crucial to note a significant point raised in another review regarding their services. A prospective short-term visitor was informed that Shawn's Hideaway "only cater to seasonals." This individual's experience included a negative interaction, describing the person they spoke with as "rude & obnoxious" and being directed to campgrounds in Maryland for weekend stays. This strongly suggests that Shawn's Hideaway may not be a suitable option for those seeking short-term or weekend "camping near me."
Considering these contrasting reviews, Shawn's Hideaway appears to be a well-regarded community for seasonal and year-round campers, offering a friendly atmosphere, mature trees, and waterfront access with a marina and fishing opportunities. However, it seems they do not prioritize or possibly do not accommodate short-term stays. Therefore, if you are a local user looking for a seasonal or year-round camping spot with a strong sense of community and access to the bay, Shawn's Hideaway might be of interest. If you are looking for a weekend or short-term camping option, this may not be the right choice based on the recent customer experience.
In terms of features, we can infer the presence of campsites suitable for seasonal and year-round living, a marina on the bay, and areas conducive to fishing. The friendly and helpful nature of the residents also stands out as a positive feature for those integrated into the community. However, details on other typical campground amenities like restrooms, showers, recreational areas, or specific types of hookups are not provided in these reviews.
There is no explicit promotional information available in these reviews. However, the positive experience of the long-term visitor, who after years of working there is now considering getting a camper or trailer and trying to get a spot at Shawn's, speaks volumes about the appeal it holds for those seeking a longer-term camping lifestyle. This personal endorsement from someone familiar with the location over many years suggests a stable and desirable community for seasonal and year-round residents.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Shawn's Hideaway seems to offer a unique model focused on longer-term stays within a friendly, waterfront community. If you are interested in seasonal or year-round camping in Millsboro, DE, particularly if you value a marina and fishing access, it would be worth contacting them to inquire about availability and their terms for longer-term residents. However, if you are looking for a short getaway, you may need to consider other campgrounds in the area.
In summary, based on the provided reviews, Shawn's Hideaway offers:
- A friendly and helpful community of seasonal and year-round residents.
- A "nice little marina on the bay."
- Plenty of room for fishing.
- Mature pine trees, suggesting a pleasant natural environment.
However, it is important to also note that:
- They appear to primarily cater to seasonal residents and may not welcome short-term stays.

For local users seeking "camping near me," Shawn's Hideaway presents a specific type of camping experience geared towards longer-term stays in a waterfront community. If this aligns with your needs, we recommend contacting them for more information. If you are looking for short-term camping, you might need to explore other options in the vicinity.

Shawn's Hideaway Reviews
I have gone to Shawn's hideaway to do tree work for many years. 15 yrs ago I went there to climb their tall pines and found a nice little community full of both seasonal and year round residents. Most everyone I came across was very friendly and helpful. They have a nice little marina on the bay and plenty of room to fish . I've never been the type for camper living but now that I'm getting older it had found a certain appeal and if I do decide to ever buy a camper or trailer Shawn's would be the first place I would try to get a spot.
Apr 23, 2022 · Hi TravelerDon't bother calling them for short term stays, they only cater to seasonals. The guy was rude & obnoxious, telling me to go to MD where they like weekenders & it's only 10 miles away he said. I was purposely avoiding that area due to the fact that I was coming to the area to visit a friend who lives there & that 10 Mile drive takes 45-60 minutes or longer in the shore traffic. This guy doesn't deserve the business.
