4.0
We recently stayed at Turtle Lodge I can’t give it a negative rating. The web site misrepresenting. The area is filled with old RVs in disrepair. The RV next to us had no sewer hose and was draining on the ground. We called and was told ‘that’s not good’ but nothing happened. There’s a HUDGE dog that just runs loose, he appears harmless but who knows. Some guy could be heard multiple times a day yelling, for another loose dog.My husband went in the laundry room/bathroom, it was disgusting. The trash dumpster was running over.We booked our stay for a week but left early I would NOT recommend staying here! - Marian Bosarge

Turtle Lodge Campground & RV Introduce

For local users searching for "camping near me" options in the New Albany, Mississippi area, Turtle Lodge Campground & RV, located at 1048 Co Rd 65, New Albany, MS 38652, USA, and reachable by phone at (662) 200-4942 or +1 662-200-4942, has received concerning feedback from recent visitors. These reviews paint a picture that starkly contrasts with the potential expectations one might have for a campground and RV park. This objective introduction aims to synthesize the available information from these reviews to provide local users with a clear understanding of the reported environment, services, and features of Turtle Lodge Campground & RV, ultimately assisting them in making informed decisions about their "camping near me" choices.

The environment of Turtle Lodge Campground & RV, as described by recent guests, appears to be a significant area of concern. One reviewer explicitly stated that "the area is filled with old RVs in disrepair," suggesting a lack of aesthetic appeal and potentially raising questions about the overall maintenance and upkeep of the property. This visual aspect could detract significantly from the natural or recreational ambiance typically sought by those looking for "camping near me." Furthermore, the mention of "a lot of mud and disorder" indicates that the grounds may not be well-maintained, potentially leading to an unpleasant and inconvenient experience for campers and RVers alike. The lack of "adequate signage explaining entrance/exit or where anything was" further contributes to a sense of disorganization and could make navigating the property difficult for newcomers.

The services and features of Turtle Lodge Campground & RV, based on the reviews, also raise serious concerns. One of the most alarming issues reported is the apparent lack of enforcement of basic sanitation standards. A reviewer described an RV next to them that "had no sewer hose and was draining on the ground." Despite reporting this issue, they were told "'that’s not good' but nothing happened," indicating a potential lack of responsiveness from management to critical health and safety concerns. This is a significant red flag for any user considering this location for their "camping near me" needs, as proper waste disposal is essential in a campground environment.

Another significant issue highlighted in the reviews is the presence of "a HUDGE dog that just runs loose." While one reviewer noted that the dog "appears harmless," the fact that it roams freely raises safety concerns for other guests, especially those with children or pets, or those who may be uncomfortable around large, unrestrained animals. The repeated instances of someone "yelling for another loose dog" further suggest a lack of control over animals on the property, potentially creating a disruptive and unsafe environment for those "camping near me."

Sanitation within the communal facilities is also a major point of criticism. One reviewer who used the "laundry room/bathroom" described it as "disgusting." While specific details of the unsanitary conditions were not provided, this strong negative assessment should give pause to any local user expecting clean and well-maintained facilities when searching for "camping near me." Additionally, the report of "the trash dumpster was running over" indicates potential issues with waste management on the property, which could contribute to unsanitary conditions and attract pests.

The overall impression from the reviews is that Turtle Lodge Campground & RV may primarily function as "a homemade RV Park for full timers on somebody’s spare acreage" rather than a well-managed campground catering to transient campers and RVers. This characterization suggests a lack of focus on the needs and expectations of short-term visitors, potentially explaining the observed disrepair and lack of amenities or maintenance. One reviewer explicitly stated they "never could find a bathhouse—not sure if they have one," which is a fundamental amenity that most campers and RVers expect when looking for "camping near me." The inability to locate such a basic facility further underscores the potential inadequacies of this location.

Safety is another significant concern raised by the reviews. One guest reported "didn’t feel particularly safe and not somewhere you’d want to walk around." While the reasons for this feeling of unsafety were not detailed, it is a serious consideration for local users looking for "camping near me" where they can relax and feel secure. A lack of perceived safety can severely detract from the overall camping experience.

Given the overwhelmingly negative feedback, there is no indication of any positive promotional aspects of Turtle Lodge Campground & RV. In fact, one reviewer explicitly advised those "just passing through town, going cross country, better to stick with state park campgrounds or KOAs if you can," strongly discouraging others from staying at Turtle Lodge. The discrepancy between the website's representation (as alluded to by one reviewer stating "the web site misrepresenting") and the actual conditions experienced by guests further erodes any potential promotional appeal. Local users should be highly cautious of any online descriptions that do not align with the experiences shared in these recent reviews.

In conclusion, based on recent customer reviews, Turtle Lodge Campground & RV in New Albany, MS, appears to suffer from significant issues related to disrepair, sanitation, animal control, and potentially safety. The environment is described as filled with old, dilapidated RVs and general disorder. Basic services such as proper waste management and clean communal facilities seem to be lacking. The presence of loose dogs and a general feeling of unsafety further contribute to a negative overall impression. For local users searching for "camping near me," the overwhelming consensus from these reviews is strongly against recommending a stay at Turtle Lodge Campground & RV. It would be prudent to consider alternative campgrounds or RV parks in the New Albany area that have received more positive feedback regarding their environment, services, and overall guest experience.
