Elvis Presley Lake & Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the vicinity of Tupelo, Mississippi, Elvis Presley Lake & Campground, located at 272 Rd 995, Tupelo, MS 38804, USA, offers a scenic setting centered around Elvis Presley Lake. You can reach them at (662) 620-6314 or their mobile number, +1 662-620-6314, for inquiries. Based on recent customer reviews, the park boasts natural beauty and certain amenities, although there are also areas identified for potential improvement and accessibility.
One reviewer described the park as "beautiful," specifically acknowledging the dedication of a maintenance employee with a retail sales background for the overall look of the grounds. This suggests that the park is visually appealing and that efforts are being made to maintain its aesthetic quality. For those seeking "camping near me" within a well-kept environment, this is a positive aspect to consider.
The same reviewer also highlighted the presence of a "great boat launch area" and "plenty of picnic areas." These features make Elvis Presley Lake & Campground attractive for those interested in boating and enjoying outdoor meals. The lake itself is a central feature, implying opportunities for water-related activities, although the specifics of what is permitted (e.g., fishing, swimming) are not detailed in this review.
However, the reviewer also expressed a desire for more development to enhance the visitor experience, suggesting the potential for activities like lifeguarded swimming at a beach and volleyball. This indicates that while the park has its merits, there might be opportunities to further develop its recreational offerings to draw even more visitors, perhaps making it an even more compelling option for those looking for "camping near me" with a wider range of activities.
Of particular relevance to those seeking "camping near me" is the mention that the reviewer "really hope the campgrounds open up soon," and that "water views from the campgrounds would be an enormous pull for some, as of right now, they are tucked in the woods." This suggests that at the time of the review, the campgrounds might have been temporarily closed or that the campsites are located away from the lakefront. If the availability of camping with water views is important to you, it would be prudent to inquire about the current status and location of the campgrounds when contacting Elvis Presley Lake & Campground.
Another review raises concerns about accessibility to the lake, particularly after post-tornado repairs. The reviewer noted that while there is a "nice new pier and even a connecting bridge across the lake," there is a lack of "steps or ramps on either side to reach them." This is a significant issue for elderly or disabled individuals who may find it difficult or impossible to access the shoreline, the pier, or the bridge. For local users searching for "camping near me" who require or prefer accessible facilities, this feedback is crucial to consider. It suggests that while improvements have been made, accessibility for all visitors may not have been fully addressed.
The reviewer also mentioned that the lake has "always been difficult to access for bank fishing due to steep sides." This long-standing issue further impacts accessibility for those who prefer to fish from the shore. Therefore, if bank fishing or easy access to the lake's edge is a priority for your "camping near me" experience, Elvis Presley Lake might not be the most suitable option based on this feedback.
In summary, Elvis Presley Lake & Campground offers a beautiful setting with a lake, a great boat launch, and plenty of picnic areas. The maintenance of the grounds is also noted positively. However, potential visitors should be aware of potential limitations regarding campground availability (at the time of the reviews) and significant concerns about the lack of elderly or disabled access to the shoreline, pier, and bridge. The steep sides of the lake also make bank fishing challenging.
For local users looking for "camping near me" in the Tupelo area, Elvis Presley Lake & Campground presents a mixed picture. The natural beauty and some of the amenities are appealing, but the accessibility issues and the potential status/location of the campgrounds are factors that need to be taken into account. If you are interested in boating or picnicking and do not require extensive accessibility features, this park might be worth considering. However, if accessible access to the lake or waterfront camping is a priority, further investigation into the current facilities is recommended.
As for promotional information, the beauty of the park and the presence of a boat launch and picnic areas are its main draws, as highlighted by one reviewer. The other review, while pointing out accessibility flaws, does acknowledge the "nice new pier and even a connecting bridge," indicating ongoing improvements to the park's infrastructure. For local residents seeking a scenic "camping near me" option with lake access for boating and picnicking, Elvis Presley Lake & Campground offers these features. However, it is crucial to be aware of the reported accessibility limitations.
To get the most up-to-date information on the campground's status, accessibility features, and any recent improvements, it would be best to contact Elvis Presley Lake & Campground directly using the provided phone numbers. This will allow local users searching for "camping near me" to make an informed decision based on their specific needs and preferences.

Elvis Presley Lake & Campground Reviews
I really wish I could give better ratings to state parks within Mississippi, yet they struggle to grasp the concept of being proactive at enticing folks to explore the outdoors. Beautiful park, especially for (1) Maitenanace employee who has experience in retail sales and not in taking care of a State Park. I give him a huge shout out for his dedication and the overall look of the grounds. Great boat launch area, plenty of picnic areas, but there could be soo much more done to make this a phenomenal experience right outside Tupelo MS. Get some volunteers or HS students that want to learn about lifeguarding, open a beach, put in some volleyball nets. Ballard park has a better pull in visitors than this park. Really hope the campgrounds open up soon. Water views from the campgrounds would be an enormous pull for some, as of right now, they are tucked in the woods.
Jul 01, 2024 · Benjamin HunterVery disappointed. Lake has always been difficult to access for bank fishing due to steep sides. Now that's it's reopened post tornado repairs there is no elderly or disabled access to the shore lines. Nice new pier and even a connecting bridge across the lake but no steps or ramps on either side to reach them.
Jul 01, 2024 · Susan GossReally great visit. We got there before they opened and met a few people that work there who showed us around a bit. It was really cool seeing the church and schoolhouse.

May 26, 2024 · ernest simmonsBeautiful lake and campground very quiet and peaceful my husband and I have been going here for awhile now because it’s not too busy and I like to walk so it’s a great place until a park ranger pulls up on you and ask for your ID. For what reason I don’t know. I’ve been out there many times and this is the first time a park ranger pulled up on us acting like we was doing something wrong. I believe it was because we were BLACK.... I pay my taxes like everybody else and if it’s a “whites only” park they need to put a sign up this has ruined my experience there and will never be back. I hate that because it’s a beautiful park and lake.
