Tymber Park Campground Introduce
If you're searching for "camping near me" in the Clarksburg, West Virginia area, Tymber Park Campground, located at 1 Timber Park Rd, presents itself as a local option. To provide a comprehensive overview, we've compiled information regarding its environment, potential services, features, and recent customer feedback available online to help you make an informed decision about your next camping experience.
The Surrounding Environment:
Situated in West Virginia, Tymber Park Campground is likely to be surrounded by the natural beauty characteristic of the state. This could include wooded areas, rolling hills, and the typical flora and fauna found in the region. The specific ambiance and scenery will contribute to the overall "camping near me" experience. One review mentions a quiet and out-of-the-way location, suggesting a potentially peaceful environment removed from heavy traffic or urban noise. Campers can anticipate the sounds of nature, such as frogs, crickets at night, and birds during the day, indicating a relatively natural setting. However, it's important to note that one reviewer expressed concerns about feeling watched while setting up, which might impact the perceived sense of security and overall environment for some visitors.
Potential Services and Amenities:
Based on the positive review, Tymber Park Campground appears to offer full hookups for RV campers, which typically include connections for electricity, water, and sewer. This is a significant convenience for RV travelers seeking "camping near me" with essential utilities. The review also mentions well-maintained shower and laundry facilities, which are valuable amenities for extended stays or those preferring not to use their RV's facilities. Additionally, the positive feedback indicates no issues with package delivery to campsites, suggesting a level of organization and service for receiving mail or deliveries during your stay. The presence of dumpsters that are emptied regularly suggests an effort to maintain cleanliness within the campground.
However, it's crucial to consider the contrasting negative review. This feedback raises concerns about the presence of long-term residents ("People live here, not just people visiting. So know that you will have to camp next to locals."), which might influence the overall camping atmosphere and the sense of being in a purely recreational environment. The negative review also mentions issues with pets not being kept on leashes, potentially posing a concern for visitors with children or their own pets. The description of the "dog park" as being very small (approximately 3 meters by 3 meters) and accessible through someone's yard may be a significant drawback for pet owners looking for adequate exercise space for their animals.
Features of the Campground:
Drawing from the available reviews, potential features of Tymber Park Campground include:
- Full Hookups: As mentioned in the positive review, full hookups are available, catering to the needs of RV campers.
- Gravel Lots: The campsites are described as gravel lots, which can offer better drainage and stability compared to grass or dirt, particularly in wet conditions.
- Relatively Level Sites: The positive review notes that the gravel lots are relatively level, making it easier to set up campers and enjoy a comfortable stay.
- Well-Maintained Shower and Laundry: These facilities are highlighted as being well-maintained, providing essential conveniences for campers.
- Dog Park (Small and Inconvenient): A designated dog park is mentioned, but its small size and awkward access through a resident's yard are significant limitations, as noted in the negative review.
- Potential for Quiet Atmosphere: The positive review emphasizes a quiet and out-of-the-way location, suggesting that those seeking a peaceful "camping near me" experience might find it appealing.
- Steep Driveway: The positive review mentions a steep driveway leading into the campground, which is described as "to be expected in WV." This is an important consideration for those with larger RVs or trailers, requiring careful navigation upon arrival and departure.
The presence of long-term residents, as indicated in the negative review, could be considered a feature by some seeking a more community-oriented environment, but it might detract from the traditional camping experience for others.
Promotional Information:
Based on the provided information, there are no specific promotional offers mentioned in the reviews. To inquire about any current promotions, seasonal rates, or discounts, it is recommended to contact Tymber Park Campground directly using the provided phone numbers: (800) 380-5583 or +1 800-380-5583. You may also want to inquire about their pet policies and the availability of specific amenities when you call.
Considering the Customer Feedback:
The provided customer reviews present a stark contrast in experiences at Tymber Park Campground. One reviewer had a negative experience, citing feelings of being watched, concerns about off-leash pets, a subpar dog park, and the presence of permanent residents. This individual explicitly advised caution to potential visitors. Conversely, another reviewer described the campground as excellent, quiet, and well-maintained, praising the owners, fellow campers, and full hookups. This discrepancy highlights the importance of considering both positive and negative feedback when making your decision.
Making an Informed Decision for "Camping Near Me":
When considering Tymber Park Campground for your "camping near me" needs in Clarksburg, WV, it is essential to weigh the potential benefits against the reported drawbacks. The availability of full hookups and well-maintained facilities are definite advantages, particularly for RV travelers. The potential for a quiet environment might also appeal to those seeking a peaceful getaway. However, the concerns raised about safety, off-leash pets, the dog park, and the presence of permanent residents should be carefully considered, especially if you are traveling with children or pets, or if you prefer a more traditional campground atmosphere.
To gain a clearer understanding and address the conflicting reviews, it would be beneficial to contact Tymber Park Campground directly. You can inquire about their current policies regarding pets, the nature of the long-term residents, and any measures they have in place to ensure the comfort and safety of all guests. Asking specific questions about the dog park and the overall atmosphere might also help you determine if this campground aligns with your expectations for a "camping near me" experience.
In conclusion, Tymber Park Campground offers potential benefits such as full hookups and a quiet location, but it also has received negative feedback regarding safety concerns, pet policies, and the presence of permanent residents. Prospective campers should carefully consider these points and contact the campground directly for more information before making a reservation to ensure it meets their specific needs and preferences for "camping near me" in the Clarksburg, West Virginia area.

Tymber Park Campground Reviews
This place is horrifying to stay at and more to look at. We couldn’t even stay the night due to the fears that we had. We had three different people come and watch us set up and gave us creepy vibes. The people there do not keep the pets on a leash, so be cautious if you bring children or pets. Their “dog park” is about 3 meters by 3 meters and you have to go through someone’s yard to get to it. People live here, not just people visiting. So know that you will have to camp next to locals. Please stay with caution.
Apr 02, 2025 · Zachary WallExcellent quiet and out of the way campground. Owners are wonderful to deal with. Other campers are friendly and respectful. Plenty of room for the campers. Full hookups, no issues. Steep driveway coming in, but as to be expected in WV. Gravel lot, relatively level. Dumpsters emptied regularly, no trash accumulated. Frogs and crickets at night and birds in the daytime. Well maintained shower and laundry. No issues with package delivery to site. I saw no concerns over theft, vandalism or drug use.

Apr 05, 2025 · Jolene CainIt's alright for a camper campground, the owners are very nice and friendly. Sadly the rent got raised while being there and constant fixing of the road and things but atleast they are working on it and not just leaving it for campers to deal with it. Great to have laundry machines there. Not too much space per camper.
Sep 13, 2018 · nikita barkoClose to town with laundromat, shower and sink on site. Full hook up with 50 and 30 amp service. 500 hundred a month covers everything and owners are very nice people.
