While primarily catering to military families and personnel, this campground provides chalet rentals and a welcoming atmosphere, particularly noted by those visiting for military graduations. Based on customer reviews, the experience can be varied, with some highlighting the convenient location and friendly staff, while others point out areas needing improvement in the accommodations.
The environment of Uchee Creek Army Campground is likely situated in a natural setting typical of the Fort Mitchell area in Alabama. The presence of "Uchee Creek" in the name suggests proximity to a creek or other water features, which could contribute to a pleasant and potentially scenic environment. The campground likely offers a more relaxed and community-oriented atmosphere due to its affiliation with the military. While the reviews don't extensively describe the natural surroundings, the mention of chalet rentals implies a more structured camping experience compared to primitive tent camping. The overall ambiance is likely geared towards providing a comfortable and convenient stay for those visiting the nearby military base for significant events.
The primary service highlighted in the reviews is the rental of chalets. According to one review, the chalets may vary in quality, with concerns raised about cleanliness, particularly dead ants in sleeping areas, and the comfort of the beds. This same review also noted the absence of basic cooking amenities in at least one of the rented chalets. However, a contrasting positive aspect mentioned was the kindness and attentiveness of the camp hosts. This suggests that while the physical accommodations might have inconsistencies, the staff is generally helpful and responsive to guests' needs. Another significant service provided by the campground is its welcoming environment for families visiting for military events, such as boot camp graduations and follow-on training completions. This suggests that the campground is experienced in hosting families during these important milestones and likely offers a supportive atmosphere.
A key feature of Uchee Creek Army Campground is its location, which is highly recommended for anyone attending military graduations at Fort Benning. Its proximity to the base makes it a convenient and potentially more affordable lodging option compared to hotels in the surrounding areas. The availability of chalet rentals provides an alternative to traditional camping, offering more shelter and potentially more space for families. The friendly and attentive camp hosts are another notable feature, contributing to a positive guest experience despite some shortcomings in the chalet conditions. The campground's established reputation as a preferred lodging for military families during significant events underscores its unique appeal within the "camping near me" category for this specific user group.
Customer reviews present a mixed picture of Uchee Creek Army Campground. One review expressed disappointment with the cleanliness and comfort of a rented chalet, as well as the lack of basic cooking amenities, leading to uncertainty about a return visit. In contrast, another reviewer "absolutely loved this place," specifically recommending it to others in the same situation of visiting for a son's boot camp graduation and subsequent training completion. This suggests that the campground's primary strength lies in its convenience and welcoming atmosphere for military families, which can outweigh some potential drawbacks in the chalet accommodations for those visiting for these special occasions. Uchee Creek Army Campground Reviews
We rented a chalet. The cabin was not very clean, there were dead ants all over the bed upstairs in the loft. Beds were not comfortable. Camp hosts were kind and attentive, however the cabin was missing basic cooking amenities. Not sure we would stay again.
Apr 12, 2025 · Amber FlanneryAbsolutely loved this place. We stayed here when my son graduated boot camp and when he finished his training for active duty. Definitely recommend this for anyone else in same situation.
Apr 25, 2025 · billy barberCheck in staff was so welcoming and helpful! Our site was perfect for our RV and spacious. They do not put people on top of eachother which resulted in ample privacy. Extremely peaceful and serene. We will be visiting this campground again.
Feb 09, 2025 · Jennifer BowenI had called the day before we arrived that if we should up earlier then expect if we could check in since we drove 16 hours without stopping for son army graduation. I was told yes that would be fine. The lady that checked us in was extremely rude and not friendly. I offered to pay for an extra day she said the can’t. But you welcome to rest in your car till three we arrived to check in at 10:00 am and said we can rest in our vehicle in the parking lot. Our front screen door was broken so it would slap in the wind. We could barely find plugs to charge phones and iPads had to buy extension cord to reach the loft for my son to charge his phone and laptop to do school work while we’re on vacation. In my opinion for 130 a night I could have stayed a nice air bnb and had a more pleasant time.
Mar 20, 2025 · Audrey ScheerWe have stayed at Uchee Creek in the large chalet twice in the past year for our son’s various ceremonies at Fort Moore. The cabins are rustic, and located in the woods. If you are expecting the Hampton Inn you will be disappointed. HOWEVER…. If you are expecting an nice cabin, with ample space, kitchen, shower, large couch, TV, and a large kitchen table that you and your family can sit around and eat, you’ll be very happy. There is also a nice deck with furniture. The WiFi isn’t great. Talk to your family :). There is a swimming pool, playgrounds, boat rentals, and a laundromat. It is close to Fort Moore and 2 hours from Fort Novosel. We will be back again.
