One long-term visitor, who has been coming to the campground for about seven years, expressed immense satisfaction with their experiences, particularly highlighting the owner, Mr. Mike. They described him as "literally the coolest guy ever," consistently providing a great time for them and their friends. The reviewer emphasized Mr. Mike's helpfulness, attentiveness, humor, and accommodating nature, portraying him as a key element in the positive atmosphere of Under the Hemlock LLC. This personal touch and dedicated customer service can significantly enhance the camping experience, making it feel more like visiting a friend than just renting a campsite.
Another camper who stayed in a tent shared a similarly positive experience, specifically mentioning that "Mike was great!" This reinforces the impression of a friendly and approachable owner who contributes significantly to the campground's appeal. This reviewer also detailed the amenities that made their tent camping fantastic, including the availability of firewood for campfires, electricity hook-ups (which would also be beneficial for RV campers), access to well water, a fire ring for safe and enjoyable campfires, and a picnic table for convenient outdoor dining and organization. These fundamental amenities cater to both tent and potentially smaller RV campers seeking a comfortable and functional campsite.
A unique feature of Under the Hemlock LLC is the "cutest country store" run by Mike and his wife, which stocks food and other essentials. This on-site store adds a significant convenience for campers, allowing them to purchase necessities without having to travel to external stores. The availability of food within the campground can be particularly appealing for those wanting to minimize travel once they have set up camp and are looking to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.
The campground's location is also a notable advantage, as it is described as being "very close to some attractions." While the specific attractions are not named in the review, this proximity offers campers the opportunity to explore the local area, adding value to their stay beyond just the camping experience itself. This could include natural sites, historical landmarks, or entertainment venues in the Dawsonville region.
In terms of facilities, Under the Hemlock LLC provides a bathhouse with at least one restroom and shower. While the number of facilities might seem limited, the reviewer noted that they "never ran into a problem waiting on someone," suggesting that the usage is well-managed or that the campground's size allows for the existing facilities to adequately serve the campers. Clean and accessible restrooms and showers are crucial for a comfortable camping experience, especially for tent campers who do not have these amenities within their own setup.
The reviewer who tent-camped concluded by stating that they "will definitely come back!" and described their weekend as "peaceful" and a "great family weekend!" This testimonial speaks volumes about the overall atmosphere and suitability of Under the Hemlock LLC for families and individuals seeking a tranquil escape in nature. The emphasis on peace suggests a campground environment that prioritizes relaxation and enjoyment of the natural surroundings without excessive noise or overcrowding.
Considering the platform category of 'camping near me', Under the Hemlock LLC in Dawsonville, GA, stands out for its combination of essential amenities, a friendly and helpful owner, the convenience of an on-site country store, and a peaceful environment close to local attractions. The positive experiences shared by tent campers highlight its suitability for those seeking a more traditional camping experience with the added benefits of electricity and water hook-ups at some sites. While the reviews do not explicitly detail services for larger RVs, the availability of electricity suggests that some RVs can be accommodated, and it would be prudent for RV owners to inquire about site suitability when booking.
For local users looking for a campground that feels more personal and less like a large, impersonal commercial operation, Under the Hemlock LLC, with its praised owner Mr. Mike, seems to offer a unique and welcoming atmosphere. The provision of firewood, water, fire rings, and picnic tables ensures a comfortable and convenient camping setup. Apr 21, 2025 · PAWS THE MODELWe camped in a tent here and it was fantastic! Mike was great! We were able to get firewood, there was electricity hook up, well water, fire ring and a table! He and his wife have the cutest country store with food! It was very close to some attractions. There was a bathhouse, just one restroom and shower but we never ran into a problem waiting on someone. We will definitely come back! It was peaceful and we had such a great family weekend!
Oct 06, 2024 · Karissa JonesExcellent campsite! The owners were so lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. The bathroom was clean and a very short walk. The country store at the front of the campground was amazing. They had lots of food options and the BEST apple cobbler. Amicalola falls is a quick drive up the street and as the campsites on the park are usually booked out years in advance I was happy we were forced to look elsewhere as Under the Hemlock was much better! We will definitely be returning in the future.
Oct 12, 2024 · Sarah BerkeyBeautiful campsite and super close to Burt’s Pumpkin Farm and Amicalola Falls. Very nice owner and it’s a quiet camp ground. We had a great time tent camping! The have a store that we heard from our friends has good food. Definitely stock up on “grocery” goods before heading in if needed. The closest Walmart was about 30 mins away. They have a bath house with a shower. It’s one restroom in the same room as the shower, so be prepared to possibly wait to get in there. They are pet friendly so ask about bringing your furry friend! They have plenty of wood for your fire which was awesome.
Nov 01, 2024 · Clarke EadsCamped in a tent through the weekend and it was great , has power from an extension cord and water from a spigot. There is a single shower and bathroom that could be sprayed for spiders but other than that it’s great to have on site.We even seen bear cubs walking in the woods.
