Whispering Pines RV Park & Campground Introduce
For local users searching within the 'camping near me' category, Whispering Pines RV Park & Campground located at 25 Whispering Pines Rd, Newport, NC 28570, presents itself as an option for your outdoor accommodation needs. To provide an objective introduction based on available online feedback, it's important to consider the range of experiences reported by previous visitors.
One reviewer described Whispering Pines RV Park & Campground as "very nice" and noted that they had stayed there a couple of times before, indicating some level of satisfaction with past experiences. They mentioned the campground being "clean, pretty and quiet." However, this same reviewer also pointed out a couple of areas for potential improvement, noting that they had to request a fire ring and that the gate had been broken since their first visit. These comments suggest that while the aesthetic and general upkeep might be pleasing to some, there could be issues with the availability of certain amenities and the maintenance of infrastructure.
In contrast to this more positive initial impression, another recent review paints a significantly different picture. This reviewer strongly advised readers to "avoid this place" unless they have a specific preference for what they describe as "an outdated, run down RV park that has nothing going for it." This is a strong statement and warrants a closer look at the reasons provided.
The primary concerns raised in the negative review revolve around noise and the overall condition of the RV park. The reviewer specifically mentioned the disruptive noise from "screaming tires and exhaust of local street drag racing" as well as the "drone of helicopter flight ops that start at 10pm and go on for hours on end." These are significant noise disturbances that could severely impact the peaceful enjoyment typically sought during a camping or RV stay. The timing of the helicopter noise, starting late at night and continuing for extended periods, is particularly concerning for those hoping for a restful night's sleep.
Adding to these issues, the reviewer also characterized the RV park as "outdated" and "run down," suggesting that the facilities and overall upkeep may not meet the expectations of some visitors. This contrasts with the other reviewer's description of the park as "clean" and "pretty," highlighting a potential inconsistency in the experience or differing standards among visitors. It's possible that certain areas or facilities are better maintained than others, or that perceptions of what constitutes "outdated" or "run down" vary.
Furthermore, the negative review stated that the RV park is "overpriced," especially considering the described conditions and noise issues. This is a critical point for budget-conscious travelers and local users looking for value in their camping or RV experience. If the amenities and environment do not justify the cost, it could be a significant deterrent for potential visitors.
The urgency in the negative reviewer's departure, stating they "couldn't check out fast enough, left early and headed home... Good riddance!" underscores the severity of their dissatisfaction. This strong reaction suggests that their experience was significantly negative and not easily overlooked.
Considering these contrasting reviews, it's challenging to form a definitive overall assessment of Whispering Pines RV Park & Campground. One past visitor found it "nice, clean, pretty and quiet" but noted issues with amenity availability and gate maintenance. Another recent visitor had a severely negative experience, citing significant noise pollution from street racing and helicopter operations, along with the park being outdated and overpriced.
For local users considering this campground based on the 'camping near me' category, it would be prudent to weigh these contrasting experiences carefully. The positive feedback regarding cleanliness and aesthetics from one reviewer should be balanced against the serious concerns raised by the other regarding noise, the condition of the park, and its value for money.
Given the information available, there is no specific promotional information or details about unique features or services that might outweigh the negative aspects reported. The broken gate mentioned by one reviewer also raises questions about security and maintenance. The lack of information about specific amenities beyond a fire ring (which had to be requested) makes it difficult to assess what services are typically offered.
Therefore, local users searching for camping or RV options in the Newport, NC area should be aware of the potential for noise disturbances from street racing and helicopter operations, as well as the possibility of encountering an outdated or run-down facility. While some visitors may find the campground aesthetically pleasing and quiet at times, the reported negative experiences, particularly concerning noise and value, should be taken into consideration. It may be advisable to seek more recent reviews or potentially contact the campground directly at (252) 726-4902 or +1 252-726-4902 to inquire about the current conditions, noise levels, and available amenities before making a reservation.
In conclusion, Whispering Pines RV Park & Campground has received mixed reviews. While one past visitor found it pleasant, a more recent review raises significant concerns about noise, the condition of the park, and its pricing. Local users should carefully consider these points and conduct further research before deciding if this campground meets their needs for a 'camping near me' experience.

Very nice campground. Have been here a couple times before. It's clean, pretty and quiet. Had to ask for a fire ring though and they're gate has been broken since the 1st time we came.
Nov 06, 2024 · Lauralynn HyattI should have done more research on this place. Other reviews are spot on, avoid this place - that is unless you like an outdated, run down RV park that has nothing going for it; unless you enjoy the screaming tires and exhaust of local street drag racing and the drone of helicopter flight ops that start at 10pm and go on for hours on end. Overpriced to boot. Couldn't check out fast enough, left early and headed home... Good riddance!

Mar 07, 2025 · US Navy VetOne big issue: there are tiny black ants everywhere. We spent our entire stay dealing with them in our trailer and vehicles, and we’re still dealing with them after leaving. They invaded so quickly (overnight the first night), and while Terro helped significantly, they just pop back up within a day or two. One of our neighbors said he had the same issue, so he does his own pest control anytime he parks his rv thereAlso, whomever said the sites were large had to be in a smaller trailer or something. The spots are fairly close together - maybe not as close as some, but they’re far from spacious, especially if you want to park your vehicle at your site.Playground is toddler sized. My elementary school aged kids were disappointed, but there are plenty of other places to go if you drive up the sound a little ways. My teen was disappointed that they didn’t have an actual clubhouse like was listed on the Thousand Trails page.Witnessed residents feeding geese white bread. There are a large flock of them that have made their home there by the very foul smelling and murky pond. As a result, they poop everywhere and hiss at you taking the trash out. They are very fond of the nearby dumpster and exit road.We opted not to use the pool because the water always appeared cloudy.
Jul 29, 2024 · Mercedes ThegSigns aren’t clearly marked, when I stopped in the office when I first got there the office staff wasn’t friendly. Park isn’t made for bigger rvs, have pull through spots but had to back out cause the trees are over the road.I Had an issue figuring out the free cable which all site don’t have boxes at and again staff acted like i was an inconvenience to them. They had events / bbq plate sales all weekend but seems like the Trans it as the referred to me as weren’t welcome as never got told about them. The pool was like a teal green and just gross. The lawn crew weed whacked right up against my golf cart and outdoor rug and when asked about blowing it off I was told it wasn’t in there policy. Called the front office and was told someone would come but never did.
