Emerald Isle RV Resort - formerly Holiday Trav-L-Park Introduce
For local residents of Emerald Isle, North Carolina, and the surrounding Crystal Coast communities, Emerald Isle RV Resort, formerly known as Holiday Trav-L-Park and located at 9102 Coast Guard Rd, Emerald Isle, NC 28594, presents a potential option when searching for "camping near me." With contact numbers (252) 354-2250 and +1 252-354-2250, it offers a location with proximity to the beach and local attractions. However, it is essential for prospective local users to consider the mixed feedback from recent customer reviews to form a balanced understanding of what this RV resort and campground offers.
The environment of Emerald Isle RV Resort benefits from its "nice proximity to beach," making it an attractive option for local campers who enjoy coastal access. The area also offers "fun activities like a bike path and go carts," suggesting opportunities for recreation beyond the campground itself. The presence of a pool, although not open during one reviewer's mid-March stay, indicates an on-site amenity for warmer months. However, it's important to note that the RV sites are described as being "close together with no privacy," which is a common characteristic of campgrounds in popular beach locations where maximizing space is often a priority. The layout includes RV sites situated in rows in the middle of the property, with permanent mobile homes located around the perimeter. While one reviewer noted that this perimeter area "didn’t look junky," it does suggest a blend of temporary and permanent residences within the resort. Another significant environmental concern raised in a review is the dominance of "sand spurs" in the grassy areas, which are described as painful to bare feet and problematic for pets. This issue, attributed to new management, could significantly impact the enjoyment of outdoor spaces within the campground for local users, especially those with pets or young children.
In terms of services, the reviews provide some insights, both positive and negative. The proximity to the beach and local attractions can be considered an indirect service, offering convenient access to off-site amenities. The presence of a pool (though its operational status can vary) is a typical amenity expected at RV resorts. The provision of a car tag and bath key upon arrival indicates a system for managing access and facilities. However, a significant issue highlighted in one review is poor communication and customer service. The reviewer experienced repeated difficulties in contacting the property by phone, with calls consistently rolling over to a call center. There were also errors in the information provided regarding the gate code and checkout date, leading to an uncomfortable and frustrating experience. Additionally, a refundable charge for a bathroom key that did not work suggests potential issues with the functionality of provided items. While the campground likely offers basic services such as water, electric, and sewer hookups for RV sites (common for RV resorts), the negative feedback regarding communication, accuracy of information, and customer service is a serious consideration for local users. The mention of a broken gate (from a previous visit noted in one review) also raises concerns about maintenance and potentially security.
The features of Emerald Isle RV Resort include its location near the beach and recreational activities like bike paths and go-carts. The presence of a pool (when operational) adds to the on-site amenities. However, the close proximity of RV sites with a lack of privacy might be considered a drawback for some local campers seeking a more secluded experience. The integration of permanent mobile homes around the perimeter creates a somewhat unique layout that might not appeal to all visitors. The sand spur issue in the grassy areas is a significant negative feature that could limit the usability and enjoyment of outdoor spaces within the resort, particularly for those with pets. The reported issues with communication and customer service, including incorrect information and rudeness, detract from the overall appeal and could be a major concern for local users who value efficient and pleasant interactions. While the resort offers a location near desirable attractions, the negative feedback suggests potential shortcomings in the management and maintenance of the property and the quality of guest services.
Currently, there is no information provided regarding any specific promotional offers at Emerald Isle RV Resort (formerly Holiday Trav-L-Park). It is common for RV resorts and campgrounds to offer various promotions, such as discounts for longer stays, seasonal specials, or rates for local residents or military personnel (given the proximity to military bases in the region). To ascertain if Emerald Isle RV Resort is currently offering any such promotions to attract local users in Emerald Isle and the surrounding areas, it would be advisable to contact them directly at (252) 354-2250 or +1 252-354-2250. Inquiring about any special rates for local campers, off-season discounts, or package deals could potentially make the resort a more attractive option. Checking their website or any online booking platforms might also provide information on pricing and any advertised promotions. Local residents are encouraged to inquire about potential cost-saving opportunities when considering a stay.
In conclusion, Emerald Isle RV Resort (formerly Holiday Trav-L-Park) offers a location with good proximity to the beach and local attractions for those searching for "camping near me" in Emerald Isle, NC. The presence of a pool is a potential amenity. However, local users must carefully consider the reported drawbacks, including the close proximity of sites with no privacy, significant issues with sand spurs in grassy areas, and concerning experiences with communication and customer service. The integration of permanent mobile homes also contributes to the overall character of the resort. While promotional offers might be available, they are not mentioned in the provided information and would need to be inquired about directly. Local residents should weigh the convenience of the location against the potential negative aspects highlighted in customer reviews before deciding if Emerald Isle RV Resort meets their needs for a local camping experience.

Emerald Isle RV Resort - formerly Holiday Trav-L-Park Reviews
Nice proximity to beach and fun activities like bike path and go carts. Pool wasn’t open when we were there but it looked nice. Sites are close together with no privacy but that’s about what you’d expect at a beach location. Rv sites are in rows in the middle with permanent mobile homes around the perimeter. It didn’t look junky though. The issue was with communication and customer service. I tried four or five times to call the property prior to our trip and ask questions but could never get through. It always rolled to the call center. I shortened our trip from three nights to two night prior to our arrival via the call center. Day of, I got a call stating their office closed at 4 and would we like our packet left. I said yes. I was a bit surprised to hear they were closing so early but no problem. Our car tag and bath key were left in the packet. He told us the gate code to get in was the last four of my phone number and then stated the number…which wasn’t mine. The next day, around 3 or so while we were at beach, I got a call asking why we hadn’t left yet since checkout was at noon. I said we weren’t leaving until the next day. She kept saying I was scheduled to leave that day. I said I don’t know what tell you but we had never planned to leave that day although we had shortened our trip. But even the car tag they had provided had the original date of a three night stay so the error must be on their end. She told me I was being aggressive. I was shocked. Not only was I not being aggressive, but the error was on their end and she was being rude. This was mid March and there were plenty of sites available so why not just offer to extend our stay. Just fix the issue and move on. Anyway after a very uncomfortable phone call, she said she’d charge us for one more day and we hung up. Shortly after, the manager called, I would’ve thought to apologize but basically to say they hadn’t made the mistake but the call center had. I didn’t care who had made it…to me it was all the same company. Later, we were unable to get in using our gate code because they apparently had not updated their system to reflect a two night stay. Fortunately the original guy had said the wrong code to start with and I remembered it, so we tried it and it worked. Also, we were charged a refundable $5 for the bathroom key, which did not work. We did return the key so I presume the five dollars was refunded but I never checked. All this to say, a little better customer service could’ve gone a long way.
Mar 23, 2025 · nancy 23My husband and I have been enjoying this RV park for over 20 years. Sadly it is under new management that has allowed sand spurs to dominate the grassy areas of most of the park. BEWARE these will prick bare feet and stick to your pets fur and embed into their paw pads to the point where you need scissors to remove them. If you are not familiar with these devils they stab and prick like rose thorns. We are so disappointed and will not return.
May 01, 2025 · Laura NMy husband and I loved staying here. It was right near the beach and everything was so clean. The bathhouses were so clean and the area was so quiet. The pool was also beautiful and clean. The staff was very friendly. And it was so easy for us to bike to local restaurants and sights. We will definitely go again!
May 31, 2024 · Erin SissonStill the best option for oceanfront camping. Prices have skyrocketed and service has decreased drastically with new ownership (decreased monitoring, decreased trash pickup, contracted mowers who could care less about your camper, and no gate staff for longer periods of time). You still can't beat the proximity to water, nice layout, and ease of access. There are huge coupon deals online, don't pay full price!
Oct 06, 2024 · David BouldinWe stayed in site 56 with our fifth wheel. Our site was very unlevel but very spacious, with a 4 minute walk to the beach. The pool is beautiful and clean and great for small kids. Only rating 4/5 stars because of the price per night and the price for the washing machines/dryer was steep for what you get.
