For local users searching within the "camping near me" category, Wilson Lake Campground & Resort, located at W5950 Archer Ln, Wild Rose, WI 54984, USA, presents itself as a lakeside option in central Wisconsin. Situated near Wilson Lake, the campground boasts a natural environment that some visitors have found appealing. The phone number for inquiries and bookings is (920) 622-3335, and the mobile number is +1 920-622-3335.
Based on recent customer feedback, the environment surrounding Wilson Lake Campground & Resort includes a "nice lake and surroundings." This suggests potential for water-based activities and scenic views that can enhance a camping experience. However, it's important to note that one review mentions "very un-level camp sites," which could pose a challenge for setting up tents or parking RVs and may impact the overall comfort of your stay. Prospective campers should be prepared for potentially uneven terrain at their chosen site.
In terms of services, one positive review indicates that the campground is undergoing "a lot of renovations, making more sites & a pool." These ongoing improvements suggest a potential for enhanced amenities in the future, which could improve the overall guest experience. The same positive review also mentions that the "place is clean," which is a significant factor for many campers. However, another review raises concerns about the staff, stating that "employees don't know how to do things or how to answer questions." This lack of helpfulness from the staff could potentially lead to frustration and a less smooth camping experience for visitors seeking assistance or information.
Features of the campground appear to be evolving with the renovations. The addition of more sites suggests an increase in capacity, potentially making it easier to book a spot in the future. The development of a pool would be a significant new amenity, offering a recreational option for guests, particularly families with children. However, it's crucial to confirm the completion status of these renovations and the availability of the new pool before making a booking if these features are important to your camping plans.
Customer reviews present a mixed picture regarding the overall atmosphere and social environment of Wilson Lake Campground & Resort. One reviewer had a positive experience, describing the "people" as "very friendly" and expressing enthusiasm to return. This suggests that some visitors have encountered a welcoming and pleasant social environment. However, another, more concerning review paints a starkly different picture. This reviewer described the place as "Unfriendly for single women campers" and recounted an incident involving "unsavory people" behaving inappropriately. They also noted a general lack of friendliness from other campers ("Most of the people just wouldn't even say good morning when I passed them by") and described the environment as "very cliquish." These comments raise significant concerns about the safety and inclusivity of the campground, particularly for solo female travelers and potentially for members of the LGBTQ+ community, as inferred by the reviewer's experience.
Regarding promotional information, none was explicitly provided in the given data. Therefore, local users interested in potential discounts or special offers would need to directly contact Wilson Lake Campground & Resort using the provided phone numbers to inquire about any ongoing promotions or deals. It's always a good practice to ask about seasonal rates, weekend specials, or any other potential cost-saving opportunities when making your reservation.
In light of the contrasting customer experiences, it is crucial for local users considering Wilson Lake Campground & Resort to weigh the positive aspects (lake surroundings, ongoing renovations, potential for new amenities) against the potential drawbacks (un-level campsites, reported issues with staff knowledge, and concerning reports of an unfriendly and potentially unsafe atmosphere for some individuals). The advice from one reviewer to "Only book for the weekend and if you want to stay longer, extend it. If you cut your stay short, you wont get a refund. You may not like it" serves as a strong caution. This policy, coupled with the negative social experiences reported, suggests a need for potential campers to exercise caution and perhaps consider a short initial stay to assess the campground firsthand before committing to a longer period.
For local users specifically searching within the "camping near me" category, Wilson Lake Campground & Resort offers a lakeside location that may be appealing. The ongoing renovations could lead to improvements in the facilities and overall experience. However, the significant concerns raised in one of the reviews regarding the lack of campsite levelness, unhelpful staff, and a potentially unfriendly and unsafe social environment, particularly for single women and potentially the LGBTQ+ community, cannot be ignored. These issues warrant careful consideration and potentially further investigation before making a booking.
Prospective campers are strongly advised to contact Wilson Lake Campground & Resort directly to inquire about the current status of renovations, the levelness of specific campsites, and to get a clearer understanding of their policies regarding refunds and booking extensions. It may also be prudent to seek more recent reviews from various platforms to gain a broader perspective on the current guest experience. While the promise of a nice lake and potential new amenities exists, the reported negative experiences highlight the importance of thorough research and cautious decision-making when considering Wilson Lake Campground & Resort for your local camping needs.

Wilson Lake Campground & Resort Reviews
Nice lake and surroundings, very un-level camp sites, employees don't know how to do things or how to answer questions. Only book for the weekend and if you want to stay longer, extend it. If you cut your stay short, you wont get a refund. You may not like it. Most of the people just wouldn't even say good morning when I passed them by. Unfriendly place for single women campers. Had some unsavory people drive slowly by my campsite and spit out their window towards me. I suspect they thought i was LGBTQ. This would mean it is unsafe for that community. Very cliquish. I won't be back.
Jul 24, 2024 · Jan MeadVery nice campground. They are doing alot of renovations, making more sites & a pool. Place is clean, people are very friendly. Went with my grandson & had a great time. Hoping to go back in August to spend more time there. Definitely will go again next year, can't wait to see all the improvements. I wish I could have met the owners to inquire more about the campground & thank them for the awesome job they are doing. We really did like the The Wilson Lake Campground
Jun 19, 2023 · Linda Du FraneYou can rent seasonally or for a weekend. Great prices either way, and loads of great people. A nice place to relax away from home.
Nov 16, 2024 · Alejandro RodriguezNot really thrilled with the set up of the campground. Not a single blade of grass near our site. Zero shade. Tongue of the camper is on the ground and the back end is 3ft up just to get close to level. Cant set up a table because there isnt a level spot on our lot. Bring along a long hose because you share electric and water with the site next to you. Very dusty. Its a work in progress in guess. I hate being negative But for what we paid I was hopeing for much better.
May 28, 2023 · James EvansStopped in to take a tour of the campground to scope out if I wanted to camp there. Jamie assisted in answering the questions that I had. When the time avails itself I will go camping there.I found the campground has new owners. They are spending a bunch of money to rejuvenate and expand the campground. There was new electrical infrastructure having been recently installed. There is ongoinghas renovations to the mechanical systems for the showers. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and sanitary. The cabins, although I did not tour them showed signs of recent renovation work. The campground was very neat and tidy. The lake front was very attractive. There was children's playground equipment available. The facility had about 75 camping trailers in the sites, making it attractive and not overcrowded. The distance between campers was respectable each site was perhaps 50 ft wide, and were very nicely laid out.
