World's End State Park Family Campground Introduce
For local adventurers seeking an exceptional "camping near me" experience, look no further than World's End State Park Family Campground, nestled in the scenic surroundings of Muncy Valley, PA 17758. Situated conveniently for residents of the region, this campground, reachable at (570) 924-3287 or +1 570-924-3287, offers a traditional state park camping experience with its own unique charm and access to stunning natural beauty. If you're looking to immerse yourself in the outdoors without venturing too far from home, World's End State Park provides a wonderful opportunity.
When searching for "camping near me," the features and environment of a campground are often key considerations. World's End State Park Family Campground stands out for its primarily wooded campsites, offering a sense of privacy and immersion in nature. As one visitor noted, "Sites are wooded," which is a significant draw for those who appreciate shade and a more natural camping setting. The presence of "all the usual state park amenities and options" suggests that campers can expect well-maintained facilities such as restrooms, potable water sources, picnic tables, and fire rings, ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay.
The campground is divided into different loops, with Loop B specifically highlighted for its "beautiful sites for tents/ non electric." This is excellent news for local tent campers who prefer a more rustic experience without the need for electrical hookups. However, it's important to note that Loop B is "closed more of the year than loop A," so local users planning a trip should check the park's website or contact them directly to confirm the availability of their preferred loop, especially during the off-season.
The unique geographical location of the campground within a valley influences its environment. One reviewer mentioned that "The valley shadows the campground until late morning, so it stays very cool." This could be a significant advantage for camping during warmer months, providing a welcome respite from the heat. However, it might also mean cooler mornings, so campers should pack accordingly, especially during spring and fall.
The proximity of the campground to the Loyalsock Creek is a major highlight. The review states it's "right across the road from the Loyalsock," indicating very easy access to this renowned waterway. The Loyalsock Creek is known for its scenic beauty and opportunities for various recreational activities such as fishing, kayaking, and simply enjoying the water's edge. Local users who enjoy water-based activities will find this campground particularly appealing due to its immediate access to the creek.
While the location is praised, potential visitors with larger recreational vehicles should be aware of certain limitations. One reviewer pointed out that the "Campground is older, tight for larger rigs," and that "Larger rigs won't fit on most sites & accessing the dump station may not be possible." This is crucial information for local campers who own larger RVs or trailers. It's highly recommended that these individuals contact the campground directly to inquire about site suitability and the accessibility of amenities like the dump station before making any plans.
For those who enjoy hiking and exploring, World's End State Park offers excellent opportunities. The review mentions a "Steep walk uphill from campground gives quick access to many miles of trails and forestry roads." This direct access to an extensive network of trails is a significant feature for local hikers and nature enthusiasts. The ability to easily transition from your campsite to miles of scenic trails enhances the overall outdoor experience and allows for deeper exploration of the park's natural beauty.
In summary, World's End State Park Family Campground offers a classic state park camping experience with several appealing features for local users:
- Wooded Campsites: Providing a natural and shaded camping environment.
- Access to Loyalsock Creek: Offering opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and enjoying the waterfront.
- Hiking Trails: Direct access to an extensive network of trails and forestry roads for exploration.
- Standard State Park Amenities: Ensuring a comfortable and convenient stay with essential facilities.
- Non-Electric Tent Sites: Beautiful options available in Loop B for those seeking a more traditional experience (seasonal availability may vary).
- Cooler Temperatures: The valley location can provide a welcome coolness, especially during warmer months.
However, local campers should also be aware of the following:
- Suitability for Larger Rigs: The campground may be challenging for larger RVs and trailers due to tight sites and potential dump station access issues.
- Seasonal Closure of Loop B: Tent campers interested in Loop B should check its availability as it is closed more often than Loop A.
- Cooler Mornings: The valley location can result in cooler temperatures in the early hours.
While there is no specific promotional information provided, the inherent appeal of a well-maintained state park campground in a beautiful location like World's End speaks for itself. Local residents looking for an affordable and nature-rich "camping near me" option will find much to appreciate here. Aug 21, 2023 · J BowmanBeautiful, deep in the mountain campground on the bank of a river. Great access to the river. Very, very clean bathrooms and campground. Campground offers wood during off season and during summer they have a concession stand and a river swimming hole right under a mountain. The cabins are very cozy.
Apr 02, 2022 · Oksana HarrisI reserved site #18 several months ago to visit in this last week of July because there are limited dog friendly spots. This site is about halfway through the pet friendly loop, so not far from the bathroom, ice freezer, firewood pile and water pump. It has 50 Amp electric but that panel also has 2 regular appliance plugs, and for site 18, it's next to a large, flat rock. It's also very close to the next site over (17), but each is clearly marked. The bathroom was clean and clearly marked with women's, family, and men's. The wash sink is located inside of the bathroom, right next to the door, which is nicer than being outside washing dishes among the bugs. There are only air dryers so bring your own towels and dish rags. Water pressure was good in the showers with push button activation that lasted about 90 seconds per push. You cannot adjust the water temp at the sinks or showers, but the shower water did heat up pretty quickly.Outside the bathroom was 2 car parking on either side, a bike rack, the ice freezer and firewood area. Buying ice and firewood is self serve, honor system, so bring your small denominations of cash or tip the park worth your excess. As of July 2022, firewood was $8 per bundle and ice was $3 for small and $6 for large bags. The trash area was close to the bathroom on one side of the loop and on the other side was a spot with free logs for firewood (unsplit/cut). If you were close by like at site 22, you could just roll a log over and probably not buy any wood.At night, it's very dark and you can see the stars in the clearings above the tall trees. Our site was quite shaded, though the trees are so tall its not really much privacy between sites in the pet loop. Also, site 18 (and the outer loop of pet sites 14-19) are highway adjacent. It's not a busy road but it's very, very close. That's the reason we chose to put our tent in a spot that wasn't the mulch pad provided at the site. The pic of the site is from the POV right by the road. A benefit of this proximity is that the creek/stream/river is right on the other side with lots of spots great for swimming or sitting in the water or floating.Cell reception was poor for me near the park and nonexistent in the park. I suggest downloading all of the maps you need before your trip (directions to and from, trail maps, direc to local spots you want to visit like Becky's for ice cream and mini golf or Big Mike's for a cheesesteak). All in all, we loved this campground and would go again.
Aug 01, 2022 · Lily de la TorreI absolutely LOVE camping here (loop A particularly :) ) the staff are so friendly, the area is well taken care of, bathrooms are cleaner than at other places :)I wish I could stay longer :)
