Falling Waters Campground home of Buttermilk Falls Introduce
Seeking a memorable "camping near me" experience in Pennsylvania? Consider Falling Waters Campground, home of the picturesque Buttermilk Falls, located at 11364 Ellenton Mountain Rd, Shunk, PA 17768, USA. You can reach them by phone at (570) 924-3427 or their mobile number, +1 570-924-3427. Based on the enthusiastic feedback from recent visitors, Falling Waters Campground offers not just a place to stay, but a welcoming and enjoyable outdoor experience.
Environment and Location:
The campground's name itself, "Falling Waters Campground home of Buttermilk Falls," immediately suggests a natural environment with a significant water feature. While the reviews don't explicitly detail the landscape beyond this, the presence of a waterfall typically implies a scenic, possibly wooded or hilly terrain. The reference to Buttermilk Falls as being part of the campground's identity hints at the potential for beautiful natural surroundings and perhaps opportunities for exploring the falls themselves.
One reviewer mentioned that their GPS took them a "back way" that was "terrible," advising future visitors to call for directions when getting close. This suggests that the campground might be located in a more rural or less straightforwardly accessible area, making it wise to heed this advice to ensure a smooth arrival. Once there, however, the same reviewer simply stated, "Great place," indicating that the destination is well worth the journey.
Another visitor who stayed while attending the Bowhunter’s Festival found the 12-mile drive to the event "worth it," implying that the campground's location, while perhaps not directly at the festival, was convenient enough and appealing in its own right to justify the travel. This also suggests that the campground might be a popular choice for those attending local events in the region.
Services and Amenities:
The hospitality at Falling Waters Campground appears to be a standout feature. One reviewer exclaimed, "Excellent hospitality!" and another noted that "The owners made us feel like we were with friends." Such comments strongly suggest a warm and welcoming atmosphere fostered by the campground management. This personal touch can significantly enhance a camping trip, making guests feel valued and comfortable.
In terms of facilities, one reviewer specifically mentioned that "The bathrooms were clean and the shower was amazing!" This is a crucial aspect for many campers, and positive feedback on cleanliness and the quality of showers is always a significant plus. Knowing that these basic amenities are well-maintained adds to the overall appeal of the campground.
Adding to the sense of community and hospitality, the campground seems to organize social events. One reviewer recounted that on Saturday night, "they had a bonfire for all who were camping, including the makings for s’mores!" This thoughtful gesture provides an opportunity for campers to socialize, enjoy a classic campfire experience, and create lasting memories. The provision of s’mores supplies indicates a generous and considerate approach by the campground hosts.
Features and Highlights:
The most prominent feature of Falling Waters Campground is undoubtedly its association with Buttermilk Falls, suggesting natural beauty and potential for exploration. The excellent hospitality provided by the owners/staff is another significant highlight, creating a welcoming and friendly environment. Clean and "amazing" showers are a practical yet much-appreciated feature. Finally, the community-building initiatives like the Saturday night bonfire with s’mores add a unique and enjoyable social dimension to the camping experience.
The campground's apparent popularity among those attending local events, such as the Bowhunter's Festival, also suggests it serves as a convenient and pleasant base for exploring the surrounding area and participating in regional activities.

Oct 25, 2023 · John BarbosaIf you are looking for somewhere to get away, this is it. No cell service, but you can get wifi at the general store on the property. The facilities are among some of the cleanest I have ever encountered. I was not very comfortable being a solo camper; however, the owners were so very helpful. They were aware I was solo hiking/camping; therefore, would make sure every morning to inquire what my plans "might" be so that in the even if I did not return, someone was aware. They gave great recommendations for local attractions & even some off the beaten path interests of mine. There is a level of customer service here that makes you feel great. For those of you that want left alone, and only want to deal with RV campgrounds (these spots are limited EVERYWHERE) maybe somewhere bigger & more commercial is for you. For those of you that like tent/vehicle camping, nature, stars, waterfalls, vistas, & hiking...this is for you.
Jun 21, 2023 · Scott MassarBeautiful camping grounds for when you wanna come up and go hunting or like being up in the mountain area. The family that owns it are incredible! They know how to make you feel welcomed and are super nice. You can see all the stars at night. Definitely coming back soon!🫶🏻
