4 Mile Creek Resort - RV Park and Campground

This very quiet park features lots of deciduous trees with a large open area and average sized sites with gravel pads. We visited for 3 nights mid-week and most of the units appeared unoccupied. I assume they are seasonals/permanents and used more on the weekends. In one area they looked like people working in the area in the short term, which is common. The bathhouse is dated and institutional but has been upgraded with tile floors and is functional and reasonably clean but stained with age. There is a pond by the lower level that I think you can swim in but otherwise no playground or other kid oriented equipment that I noticed. Sites are all water/electric with a dump site and free use of a “honey bucket” cart to empty your tanks. The downside to this location is you must drive about 2 miles on good gravel roads that are very dusty. Your vehicle will be very dirty. The Wifi worked pretty well. Propane refills are available. - John Dale

4 Mile Creek Resort - RV Park and Campground Introduce

If you're searching for "RV parks near me" in the vicinity of Augusta, Kansas, 4 Mile Creek Resort - RV Park and Campground, located at 13218 SW Tawakoni Rd, Augusta, KS 67010, USA, presents itself as a quiet park with a natural setting. Based on recent customer reviews, it offers a mix of features and potential drawbacks that are important for local users to consider when planning their RV travels.

The environment of 4 Mile Creek Resort is described as "very quiet" and features "lots of deciduous trees," providing ample shade and a natural ambiance. The park also includes a "large open area," which could be beneficial for various outdoor activities. The RV sites are noted as being of "average sized" with "gravel pads." One visitor who stayed mid-week observed that most of the units appeared unoccupied, suggesting a potentially less crowded atmosphere during the week, with the possibility of more seasonal or permanent residents occupying the sites on weekends.

In terms of services and features, 4 Mile Creek Resort offers water and electric hookups at each site. For waste disposal, the park provides a dump station for black and gray water. Additionally, they offer the free use of a "honey bucket" cart for emptying tanks, which indicates the absence of direct sewer hookups at individual sites. Propane refills are also available on-site, which is a convenient amenity for RV travelers needing to replenish their propane supply.

One notable environmental aspect mentioned in the reviews is the presence of a pond in the lower level of the park, which one reviewer believed might be suitable for swimming. However, it's important to verify the safety and suitability of swimming in this pond with the park management before engaging in any water activities. The first reviewer also noted the absence of a playground or other kid-oriented equipment that they observed, which might be a consideration for families traveling with children.

A significant point of concern raised by multiple reviewers is the access to the RV park. Visitors must travel approximately 2 miles on "good gravel roads" to reach the location. While the road surface is described as "good gravel," it is also noted to be "very dusty," with a warning that vehicles will likely become very dirty as a result. This is an important factor for potential visitors to consider, especially those who prefer to keep their vehicles clean.

The condition of the bathhouse is another area where reviews offer mixed feedback. One reviewer noted that it is "dated and institutional" but has been upgraded with tile floors and is "functional and reasonably clean" despite being "stained with age." In contrast, another reviewer who stayed over the summer and fall reported that the bathrooms were "never very clean" despite claims of weekly cleaning, alleging that the cleaning was limited to sweeping and pouring bleach on the floor. This reviewer also mentioned issues such as a men's bathroom door being "super hard to open and close," curtains instead of stall doors in both men's and women's bathrooms that appeared unclean, and a persistent piece of toilet paper in a stall throughout their stay. They also described the showers as "gross leaky and rusty faucets." These contrasting opinions suggest potential inconsistencies in the cleanliness and maintenance of the bathhouse facilities.

Further concerns were raised about a "nice gazebo" that was reportedly "falling apart" upon closer inspection and had wasp nests during the summer. The second reviewer also highlighted the lack of sewer hookups, reiterating the reliance on borrowing "rolling tanks and hoses that people don't care about" for dumping waste. This was a significant point of dissatisfaction for this reviewer, who felt that the park's revenue should allow for upgrades or better maintenance.

Finally, the second reviewer mentioned that the "walking paths and woods are tick infested as well," which is an important consideration for visitors planning to spend time outdoors with pets or engage in hiking within the park's surroundings.

On a more positive note, the first reviewer mentioned that the Wi-Fi worked "pretty well," which is an important amenity for many travelers needing to stay connected. However, the second reviewer did not comment on the Wi-Fi service.

Considering these reviews, 4 Mile Creek Resort - RV Park and Campground offers a quiet, tree-filled setting with basic amenities such as water and electric hookups and propane refills. However, potential visitors should be aware of the 2-mile gravel road access that can result in dusty vehicles. The condition of the bathhouse appears to be a point of contention, with one reviewer finding it functional but dated, while another reported significant cleanliness and maintenance issues. The lack of direct sewer hookups at individual sites and the reliance on a shared dump station and honey bucket carts are also important considerations. Additionally, the potential for tick infestation in walking areas should be noted by those planning outdoor activities.

While the park may appeal to those seeking a quiet and natural environment, it seems that some aspects, particularly the bathhouse maintenance and the lack of sewer hookups, may not meet the expectations of all RV travelers. It is advisable for potential visitors to contact 4 Mile Creek Resort directly at (316) 733-0459 or +1 316-733-0459 to inquire about the current condition of the facilities, any recent upgrades, and to clarify details regarding waste disposal and other amenities. Given the mixed reviews, it would be prudent to gather the most current information before making a booking decision.

In conclusion, 4 Mile Creek Resort - RV Park and Campground offers a potentially tranquil retreat with a natural setting near Augusta, Kansas. However, local users searching for "RV parks near me" should carefully weigh the benefits of the quiet environment and tree coverage against the potential drawbacks of the dusty gravel road access, the condition of the bathhouse as described in some reviews, the lack of individual sewer hookups, and the reported tick issue in outdoor areas. Direct communication with the park management is recommended to obtain the most accurate and up-to-date information before planning a stay.
