A-Okay RV Park in Dothan Introduce
Welcome to A-Okay RV Park in Dothan, located at 5081 3rd Ave D-7, Dothan, AL 36301, USA. For local users searching for "RV parks near me" in the Dothan area, A-Okay RV Park presents a unique offering, combining the amenities of an RV park with the experience of a working cattle ranch that also sells beef. However, it's crucial to consider the varied experiences shared by recent customers to form an objective understanding of what this park offers.
One detailed review paints a picture of a park with a somewhat rustic and potentially disorganized initial impression. The reviewer described pulling up to an "old trailer labeled office, sketchy!" and noted that the office itself was "not exactly a clean place, a bit run down as you would expect from the appearance." This suggests that the aesthetic environment upon arrival might not be the most polished.
The interaction with the staff, referred to as "the sister," "the brother," and "the mother" (without formal names), was described as initially challenging but eventually warming up in the case of "the sister." However, "the mother" was characterized as "not very friendly" and exhibited difficulties with their new IT system, causing delays and discrepancies with a reservation confirmation. This suggests potential issues with the park's administrative processes and customer service.
Upon arrival at their site, the reviewer noted that the park had "lots of full-timers," which they, as a prior full-timer, appreciated, understanding the transient nature of certain professions that benefit from such accommodations. They also observed that while some of the full-timers' setups "could use some face lifts," they were understanding of the challenges of camper living.
The most concerning part of this detailed review involves interactions with "the brother" and "the dad." The reviewer's husband, who works for a shed moving company, experienced two separate encounters involving a golf cart "ambush." The first occurred when his boss arrived in a Ford F-550 pickup pulling a 26ft empty trailer to pick him up for work. Despite the truck being a standard pickup and trailer, abiding by road signs, and moving slowly within the campground roads, "the dad" was reportedly "VERY abrupt and rude," demanding the truck be removed and threatening to ask the campers to leave if it was brought in again. This interaction left the reviewer "completely speechless" and in "complete disbelief" due to the rude and unwelcoming demeanor of the staff member.
Despite this negative encounter, the reviewer's husband later went to the office, where "the dad" was tending, to purchase steak (highlighting the cattle ranch aspect of the park). While a conversation about cattle occurred, no apology was made for the earlier rude behavior. As a result of this experience, the reviewer stated they would "never be back" and chose to leave the next day, even making reservations at another location.
In contrast to this negative and detailed account, another reviewer offered a brief but positive assessment, describing A-Okay RV Park as a "Very cool RV park that can accommodate big rigs." This is a significant feature for RVers with larger vehicles, indicating that the park has sites suitable for accommodating them. This reviewer also reiterated the dual nature of the park, mentioning that it is "also a cattle ranch that also sells beef" and expressed being "Very happy with my visit" and would "stay again."
Considering these contrasting reviews, the environment of A-Okay RV Park appears to be somewhat rustic, with older facilities, including the office. However, it is also capable of accommodating large RVs. The presence of many full-time residents suggests a community atmosphere, though the aesthetic of some sites might be less polished. The park's unique feature as a working cattle ranch that sells beef could be an appealing aspect for some visitors.
In terms of services and features, the availability of sites for big rigs is a notable feature. However, the detailed negative review raises concerns about customer service and potentially inconsistent or unwelcoming interactions with some members of the management ("the mother" and "the dad"). The administrative processes also seemed to have issues with reservation handling. The positive review does not elaborate on specific amenities beyond the big rig accessibility and the cattle ranch aspect. Information regarding standard RV park amenities such as hookups (water, electricity, sewer), Wi-Fi, laundry facilities, restrooms, and recreational areas is not provided in either review.
There is no specific promotional information mentioned in either review, such as discounts for longer stays or special offers related to the cattle ranch. The first reviewer mentioned a reservation and payment discussion but no specific deals. The second reviewer simply expressed satisfaction with their visit without mentioning any promotions.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" in Dothan, A-Okay RV Park presents a unique option due to its cattle ranch connection and reported ability to accommodate large RVs. However, potential visitors should be aware of the significant customer service concerns raised in one of the detailed reviews. The contrasting positive review suggests that some visitors have had pleasant experiences, but the negative account highlights potential issues with management demeanor and administrative efficiency.
Given the mixed feedback, it is advisable for local users considering A-Okay RV Park to weigh the potential benefits, such as big rig access and the unique cattle ranch experience, against the reported drawbacks in customer service and the rustic environment. It might be beneficial to contact the park directly to inquire about specific amenities, policies regarding visitor vehicles, and to get a sense of the current management approach. The provided phone numbers are (334) 718-7576 and +1 334-718-7576.
In conclusion, A-Okay RV Park in Dothan offers a unique combination of an RV park and a cattle ranch, with the ability to accommodate large RVs. However, potential visitors should be aware of recent customer reviews that highlight concerns about the park's aesthetic, administrative processes, and particularly the unwelcoming behavior of some members of the management. While one reviewer had a positive experience, the detailed negative account suggests that the quality of stay may be inconsistent. Local users are encouraged to do further research and potentially contact the park directly to make an informed decision.

A-Okay RV Park in Dothan Reviews
After reading reviews, 3 stars at best. Living fairly close, 2.5 hrs, we decided to ride through. Pulled up to an old trailer labeled office, sketchy! I was ready to go. We drove so we went in, not exactly a clean place, a bit run down as you would expect from the appearance. The lady in the office was irritable but warmed up and was nice. We discussed reviews, she explained them off. We made a reservation. Offered to pay in full but told no, concerned because our dates included the Peanut festival and Veterans Day. I did receive an email confirmation of our dates. Fast-forward, 2 days prior to our anticipated arrival, our plans shifted by a day, I called. No formal “AOKay Campground, phone etiquette” just Hello! I identified myself and explained my reason for the call, “no problem, see you when you get here”. Upon arrival we proceeded to what we knew to be the office, aka rundown trailer. We were ambushed by 2 golf carts. The office moved, they tried to “flag us down”. Oops, our fault! No problem, I went with “the sister” to properly check in, my husband followed ”the brother” who escorted to our site. Meanwhile in the office, “the mother” yes this is how they refer to themselves, No names, is not very friendly. She asked several times if we had a reservation, I gave her the confirmation email, she couldn’t find it. Clearly with the new office came a new IT system. After signing my life away, 2 pages of rules front and back & 15 min of the mother trying to get the new system to match the email quote, she conceded to allow the system to charge less than the quote. On the return golf cart ride, I mentioned that the mom needed to smile. She said it had been a busy day, they attended a funeral and 10 campers came in earlier. After set up we walked the campground, lots of full-timers, we knew this, some could use some face lifts but as a prior full-timer I understand the challenges of camper living. I appreciate a location that allows full-timers, there are many trades that require transient living, which WE ALL benefit from; electricians, welders, nurses just to name a few! As mentioned, we live nearby, husband works for a shed moving company and they had local move. His boss picked him up in the campground at 8am, ambushed by a golf cart, the brother “what are you doing here”. My husband explained he was being picked up to go to work. We’re camping here, mind you “the brother” literally parked us and talked to my husband for at least 20 min, 18 hours ago! No problem, off to work he goes. All is well UNTIL…. Shed truck: Ford 550 pick-up, NOT a semi, pulling a 26fr empty trailer- pulls in ON THE ROAD, in the campground. Before reaching our camper - you guessed it, the golf cart! This time, “the dad” VERY abrupt and rude “what are you doing here, get that truck out of here, next time you come here you leave that truck on the road, don’t bring that in here”! I’m in complete shock! In review: smaller than our 40ft camper, empty trailer, daylight hours, not going fast, abiding by all road signs. When my husband asked if there was a problem - again very rude and curt, “the problem is this truck doesn’t belong in here and if you don’t like that you can take your equipment and leave too”! Again, WOW! I’m completely speechless, and have NEVER been talked to in this manner! His boss left as directed and we were left looking at each other in complete disbelief. I had plans, the reason we’re camping, so packing up in that moment was not realistic, though very tempting! I did immediately make reservations at another location for the next day! My husband, the bigger person, went to the office to purchase steak, they’re also a cattle ranch. The dad was tending in office. After some talk about cattle, he explained a past shed repo situation that caused property damage, NOT this company! No apology attempts were made. Unacceptable, we’ll never be back! I’d like to say we were refunded but honestly I didn’t even ask, I wanted to leave without giving myself or others reason to get an attitude. I choose GRACE and I pray they do too!
