Alamo River RV Park & Campground Introduce
Welcome to Alamo River RV Park & Campground, located at 12430 Trawalter Ln in San Antonio, Texas. For local users exploring "RV parks near me," Alamo River RV Park & Campground offers a riverside setting and proximity to the attractions of San Antonio. To provide a comprehensive and objective introduction, we will consider the environment, services, features, and any available promotional information based on recent customer reviews.
The environment of Alamo River RV Park & Campground appears to offer a mix of natural appeal and potential drawbacks, according to recent feedback. One positive review highlights the opportunity for seclusion, stating that the "manager was really awesome and gave us the perfect accommodation since we wanted to be secluded." This suggests that the park has areas that offer privacy and a sense of being away from more crowded settings. Furthermore, the mention of seeing "quite a bit of wildlife!" indicates that the park benefits from its natural surroundings, likely due to its location near the Alamo River. This could be a significant draw for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a more rustic camping experience.
However, another recent review presents a contrasting perspective on the park's environment. This guest described it as the "worst park I've been to yet," citing issues that significantly impacted their experience. One major concern was a persistent "smell of sewer the hole time," indicating potential problems with the park's sewer system. Such an issue could severely detract from the enjoyment of being outdoors and suggests a need for significant maintenance and repair. Additionally, the reviewer mentioned "dogs barking non stop if u plan on sitting outside," which could be a considerable disturbance for guests seeking peace and quiet during their stay.
In terms of services, the information available from the reviews is somewhat limited and contradictory. The positive review mentions the helpfulness of the manager in providing suitable accommodation, suggesting a degree of personalized service. However, the negative review raises concerns about the professionalism of the staff, recounting an incident where a guest was reprimanded for exceeding the speed limit, only to allegedly witness the manager engaging in similar behavior. This inconsistency in enforcing park rules and the perceived rudeness of staff are significant service-related issues highlighted by this guest.
Beyond staff interactions, the negative review also points out a lack of recreational amenities, stating, "Nothing to do at this park." This suggests that Alamo River RV Park & Campground may be a more basic facility focused primarily on providing RV sites rather than offering a wide range of activities or entertainment options. For guests looking for a park with organized activities, a playground, a pool, or other recreational facilities, this may be a crucial consideration.
The features of Alamo River RV Park & Campground, based on the limited information, include its potential for secluded sites and its location that allows for wildlife viewing. The pet-friendly aspect is also evident from the positive review where the guests brought their "2 dogs" who "had a great time." This suggests that the park welcomes pets, which is an important feature for many RV travelers. However, the negative review paints a picture of potential disrepair, mentioning ongoing sewer problems that affected the entire stay. This suggests that while the natural setting might be appealing, the park's infrastructure may have significant issues that need to be addressed.
Currently, there is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. RV parks often offer various incentives, such as discounts for longer stays, seasonal rates, or special packages. To obtain information about any current promotions or special offers at Alamo River RV Park & Campground, it would be best to contact them directly using the provided phone number or by checking their website if one is available. Given the contrasting reviews, it would be particularly prudent to inquire about the status of the sewer issues and any ongoing maintenance or upgrades.
In conclusion, Alamo River RV Park & Campground offers a location near San Antonio with the potential for secluded sites and wildlife viewing, and it appears to be pet-friendly. However, recent customer feedback also raises significant concerns regarding staff professionalism, potential sewer problems leading to unpleasant odors, and a lack of recreational amenities. The discrepancy between the positive and negative reviews suggests that experiences at the park may vary. For local users searching for "RV parks near me" and considering Alamo River RV Park & Campground, it is strongly recommended to contact the park directly to inquire about the current conditions, the status of any reported issues, and the availability of services and amenities. It would also be beneficial to seek more recent reviews from multiple sources to gain a balanced perspective before making a decision. While the allure of a secluded, wildlife-rich environment is present, potential guests should be aware of the reported negative experiences regarding staff and infrastructure.

Alamo River RV Park & Campground Reviews
My husband and I just spent the weekend here with our 2 dogs. The manager was really awesome and gave us the perfect accommodation since we wanted to be secluded. Our dogs had a great time, and we saw quite a bit of wildlife! We definitely plan on coming back again
Mar 02, 2025 · Stephanie MoellerThe worst park I've been to yet. Staff was very rude at my fault for going over 5 mph but min later the manager that had the problem was driving 10 to 15 mph himself. And I never seen one person drive the 5 mph. Nothing to do at this park. Dogs barking non stop if u plan on sitting outside. They has sewer problems the hole stay so smelled of sewer the hole time. Terrible park. Un professional staff.
Feb 09, 2025 · Billy PrestonThis is a wonderful RV park where we stayed for a weekend in our motorhome with our two dogs. We had a spot down near the river under some shade trees. It was very quiet except for the sound of an occasional train in the far distance. We chose this RV park because it has an enclosed dog park which is simple but adequate. We enjoyed the very beautiful trees down along the river, seeing wildlife, and the nice network of walking trails. Our stay was very peaceful, relaxing, and we will stay there again sometime.
Oct 06, 2024 · Cheryl OutlandA stayed at the park for about 8 months. The park is clean and some of the spots are spacious. The bathrooms, laundry are clean, but dated. The lower loop is fairly far from the bathrooms and laundry facilities located toward the front of the park. The wifi leaves a great deal to be desired. It constantly required me to contanct Tengo internet to troubleshoot the connection. When it was working it was okay speeds. The management can be slow to respond, but they do respond eventually. I rented my spot on a monthly basis. I paid for the entire month of December, but ended up loosing my position in San Antonio in the first week of the month. I notified the management I would be leaving early and requested a refund of the remaining rent from the 14th. It only took 8 phone calls, most of which went to voicemail and were not returned, and three weeks after I left the park to receive the update that the park does not do refunds as a policy. Rotten tomatoes for me, but just letting the public know service is not the top priority in the park. Otherwise if you want a no frills place close to San Antonio it's not a bad option. Just don't have a change of plans...
Jan 08, 2025 · richard wanzieMy family and I stayed at this campsite this weekend and it was absolutely wonderful. They are tucked away from main roads and the nature view driving in is very nice. I put 5 stars under rooms even though they are sites. We stayed at site 96 for pop up campers and the layout was perfect. The river was right down the road. We were right by full bathrooms with showers and also the laundry room. Also right out our doors was a dog area for our 3 dogs and a playground for my daughter which they all loved. They also have a common house where you check in with coffee, games, and much more. There are permanent residents there but it’s so very quiet you wouldn’t know it. There were two wonderful little boys that played with my daughter at the park. The management are very welcoming and friendly and were also from Colorado which is where we were coming from. I definitely recommend anyone visiting the San Antonio area stay here. Was a great experience and we plan on returning in the future. Thank you very much for such a wonderful place to set up for a few days.
