For local RV enthusiasts seeking a charming and conveniently located "RV parks near me" experience in Bandera, the "Cowboy Capital of the World," Bandera Star Riverfront Camping and RV, situated at 115 Pops Rd, Bandera, TX 78003, USA, presents a compelling option. You can reach them at (830) 322-3004 or +1 830-322-3004 to inquire about availability and the specific features that make this park a unique riverside retreat. Recent customer feedback provides valuable insights into the environment, services, and overall appeal of this campground.
One of the standout features, particularly for pet owners, is the "Largest dog park I've seen and used in an RV Park!" This generous space allows dogs, even active breeds like hunting dogs, to stretch their legs and enjoy off-leash exercise. For local users traveling with their furry companions, this expansive dog park is a significant advantage and a strong indicator of the park's pet-friendly attitude. The reviewer also expressed anticipation for warmer weather to enjoy the river, highlighting the park's direct access to waterfront activities.
Another guest who stayed for an overnight visit provided a more comprehensive overview. They noted the presence of "mature trees" within the park, which is a significant benefit in the Texas heat, offering shade and a more natural camping environment. The park's location "right on the river" is another major draw, providing opportunities for riverside relaxation and potentially water-based activities, as the previous reviewer also mentioned.
The convenience of the campsites was also praised, with the reviewer describing them as "super easy pull-throughs." This is particularly beneficial for larger RVs and those who prefer a straightforward setup process. The essential hookups – "Electric, water and sewer were right there" – indicate that the park offers full hookups, ensuring a comfortable and self-sufficient stay. The atmosphere was described as "peaceful and quiet," aligning with the desire of many RVers for a tranquil camping experience.
The service at Bandera Star Riverfront Camping and RV was reported as "prompt and friendly," contributing to a positive overall impression. The reviewer also highlighted the affordability, stating, "Price cannot be beat!" This suggests that the park offers good value for the amenities and location it provides, which is always a significant consideration for budget-conscious travelers.
An added convenience for guests is the presence of a "Strip mall at front of property" which includes an "amazing donut shop for donuts and kolaches at breakfast." This provides easy access to morning treats and potentially other services without having to drive far from the campground. Furthermore, the park's location is "Super close (walkable) to downtown for all of the things you come to Bandera for." This is a major advantage for local users who want to explore the attractions, shops, and restaurants in downtown Bandera without the hassle of parking.
The reviewer also offered an honest assessment of the park, acknowledging that it is an "older park" and has "some permanent residents." However, they noted that the permanent residents were "super friendly," which contributes to a welcoming community atmosphere. Importantly, the reviewer pointed out that the park does not have a pool, water park, gift shop, or bathhouse, but also emphasized that these amenities were not advertised. This sets realistic expectations and highlights that Bandera Star Riverfront Camping and RV focuses on providing a comfortable and convenient base for enjoying the natural surroundings and the town of Bandera.
The reviewer concluded by describing it as "a really nice, unpretentious little river side rv park" and stated that they "would definitely stay there again!!" This strong recommendation speaks to the positive experience despite the lack of some resort-style amenities.

Bandera Star Riverfront Camping and RV Reviews
Largest dog park I've seen and used in an RV Park! My hunting dogs could stretch their legs. Looking forward to visiting in warmer weather and getting in the river!
Jan 09, 2025 · Donnie LWe came for an overnight stay. The park has mature trees and is right on the river. The spots were super easy pull-throughs. Electric, water and sewer were right there. It was peaceful and quiet. Service was prompt and friendly. Price cannot be beat! Strip mall at front of property had an amazing donut shop for donuts and kolaches at breakfast. Super close (walkable) to downtown for all of the things you come to Bandera for. Was it an older park? Yes. Did it have some permanent residents? Yes, but they were super friendly. Did it have a pool or a water park or a gift shop and bath house? Nope, but they didn’t advertise that they did. Was it a really nice, unpretentious little river side rv park? Yes, and we would definitely stay there again!!
May 26, 2024 · Christina TaylorOver the last 30 years we've been camping this was the worst campground we have ever stayed at! Campground was not maintained and 95% were full time residents. Check in was 2 PM and we arrived at 1:15 so they charged us and early check in fee. There was a 2 Pet Max which we were not aware of. So we had to pay a fee for the 3rd pet as well. We left the next morning couldn't stay there another day. Thank goodness our next campground could take us 2 days early. CAMPERS BEWARE
Jun 22, 2023 · Debbie SmithWe decided to make a last reservation and Michael was very helpful. From the time we arrived till the time we left we had nothing but positive things to say about this place. The owners are friendly and neighbor’s are friendly as well. It’s a great spot and it has a nice river access spot to enjoy. There is a shopping strip right in front to go to for breakfast and lunch. We will totally be back to visit Pop’s. Highly recommend this place.
May 25, 2020 · Luis GironChecked out of this dump early. Planned a trip to a Bandera with our kids for Spring Break. It was literally behind a strip mall/center down by the river. The river access was nice but didnt make up for the fact that the location was down wind from a sewer water treatment plant and had more long term residents than travelers. They charged a $5/kid per day fee for anymore than 2 campers, zero facilities and the only place to have a camp fire is across the rv park by the river. I did receive a lock site fee refund for $10 because the owner offerred us a "better spot". It was further from the river and closer to the dumpsters behind the strip mall. I figure our original spot we chose wasnt actually available. Idk. Certainly not taking my family back.
