Big Pines RV Park Introduce
For those navigating "RV Parks Near Me" in search of a tranquil and picturesque setting in Park Rapids, Minnesota, Big Pines RV Park stands out as a unique option. Located at 501 Central Ave S, Park Rapids, MN 56470, with contact available at (218) 237-8815, this park offers a blend of natural beauty and a strong sense of community, primarily catering to seasonal campers but also accommodating overnight guests. Its setting on the Fishhook River provides a serene backdrop for an RV getaway.
The first impression of Big Pines RV Park, as noted by visitors, is its "very pretty and peaceful" environment. True to its name, the park is "nestled amongst towering pines," providing ample shade and a classic "Northwoods" setting. This natural ambiance contributes significantly to a relaxing atmosphere, inviting campers to unwind amidst the greenery. The park's location on the banks of the tranquil Fishhook River is a major highlight. This river access offers opportunities for enjoying the water, whether it's relaxing by the riverside picnic area, trying some fishing from the dock, or enjoying the sandy swimming area. The property itself is described as "absolutely beautiful," indicating well-maintained grounds and a visually appealing layout. While some sites might be closer to Central Ave S, the overall impression is one of natural beauty and quietude, despite being conveniently located close to shops and restaurants in Park Rapids. The combination of natural scenery and a peaceful setting is a key draw for Big Pines RV Park.
Big Pines RV Park offers a range of services and features designed to enhance the RV camping experience, though some aspects are clearly tailored towards its predominant seasonal clientele. The park provides full hookups (electric, water, sewer) at its sites, with both 30 Amp and 50 Amp service available. Many sites are pull-through, accommodating larger RVs up to 100 feet with room for slide-outs. Each campsite is typically graveled, often with picnic tables, and many are shaded. A standout feature, repeatedly praised by visitors, is the "best bath/shower setup" with "new private, single-occupant bathrooms" that are consistently "sparkling clean" and "warm." This attention to cleanliness and privacy in the restroom facilities is a significant amenity. The park also offers laundry facilities, which are coin-operated and accessible to guests. For connectivity, Big Pines RV Park provides free Wi-Fi, particularly for overnight sites, and offers Internet TV for seasonal rentals only. Recreationally, beyond the river access, the park boasts a newly remodeled clubhouse and game room, a playground, basketball court, and shuffleboard. The presence of a fishing dock and a sandy swimming area on the Fishhook River further enhances the recreational offerings. Good Sam ratings for the park consistently highlight the completeness and quality of facilities, cleanliness of restrooms, and visual appeal of the environment.
Big Pines RV Park positions itself as an ideal northern Minnesota spot for both summer retreats and extended stays, clearly appealing to those searching "RV Parks Near Me" with varying durations in mind. The park openly acknowledges its strong seasonal presence, with reviews indicating that "almost all of the RVs were either permanent or seasonal." This fosters a "friendly" community among the seasonal campers, a trait often highlighted positively by visitors. For those looking for an extended stay from May 1 to October 15, seasonal rates are available, reflecting the park's focus on longer-term residents. However, for transient or overnight campers, there are some important considerations. While the park does offer overnight sites, the check-in process, as one reviewer noted, can be less informative than expected for short-term guests. This might lead to an initial lack of information regarding amenities like Wi-Fi codes, bathroom locations, or trash disposal. This suggests that while Big Pines accommodates overnight stays, its operational rhythm is more aligned with its seasonal residents. Therefore, short-term visitors are advised to be proactive in asking for all necessary information upon arrival, or to call ahead using the provided phone numbers (218) 237-8815, to ensure a smooth check-in and access to all amenities. The park's location offers easy access to Park Rapids town amenities, including shops and restaurants, and is conveniently close to the Heartland Trail for biking and walking. This combination of a peaceful, natural setting with proximate town conveniences and recreational opportunities makes Big Pines RV Park attractive. Despite the potential for some initial confusion for overnight guests due to the seasonal focus, the park's well-maintained facilities, beautiful environment, and friendly seasonal community make it a highly rated option for those seeking a relaxing and accommodating RV experience in Park Rapids, Minnesota, whether for a quick stop or an entire season.

Big Pines RV Park Reviews
First impression when we drove up was it was very pretty and peaceful. But it was a different check in process. The lady was sitting on the deck outside the office and didn't ask or name but said what site we were in. She took us to the site and helped us back in. I asked if I needed to go to the office for any information etc. She said no and drove off. It is my fault for not insisting that we go to the office. We were given no wifi code, we had no idea where bathrooms and showers were, no idea where trash went, nothing. It appeared that almost all of the RVs were either permanent or seasonal. We figured since we were one night it wasn't important for them to make sure we had all the information needed. That was definitely a first for us. We had to go walk around to figure things out. Our site was right in the middle of a group that st right outside our trailer and loudly carried on conversations until after 11 pm. There are several trailers that had for sale signs on them. Had we known that everyone was seasonal, we would have stayed elsewhere.
Jun 16, 2024 · Donna SmithOne of the best campgrounds I've stayed at. It has the best bath/shower setup I have ever seen and the seasonal campers are really friendly, which you don't always get. Absolutely beautiful property! Will be going back again and again.
Jul 31, 2023 · Darin AndersonOverall we enjoyed our stay for a week/over July 4th. There is plenty of space in between sites.Wifi worked great.Super clean facilities. It seems that a large portion of the park is seasonal guests.Nicest park in the surrounding area.Manager was very nice.Only Con: We have a 40ft FW- they really need to escort the large rigs to their sites because their map is not geometrically correct plus there are lots of trees to maneuver thru with tight turns.
Jul 06, 2021 · Carol LacyWe had a blast at this beautiful campground. The sites are huge with stone fire pits and a picnic table. We drove in thinking we were driving into a neighborhood. It’s very close to town and only a short 35 minutes to Itasca. The kids loved the playground and riding bikes around the gravel roads. There is an outbuilding with a shower and gathering place with two arcade games, but we didn’t use them. We’d definitely come back.
Sep 23, 2018 · Stephanie AllenWhen we arrived, it was a gloomy evening at Big Pines, with POURING rain. But as we pulled into the Park, Jared the Manager, met us. We didn't even have us get out of the truck! Immediately, we felt like Kinfolk returning home, after a long absence!Being September of the 2019 camping season, most sites were open. With the pouring rain, Jared encouraged us to drive through the grounds, look the sites over, and if we saw an easier site to maneuver into, we were welcome. Then he led us on foot, through the huge pines of the rain soaked grounds, making sure we got properly parked. We wouldn't have been able to manage alone, in such rain.Jared's kind and thoughtful hospitality, MADE our first night! He waited once we parked, making sure we didn't have any questions before sloshing off, (soaked to the bone), he never lost his smile, as he looked back, and waved. The grounds are beautiful, especially in Fall! The private Bath Houses are awesome and spacious.Even with pouring rain, many sites have been upgraded to improve parking. It's a scenic park, in a convenient location. We were greeted by friendly campers, AND it was QUIET. We watched deer wondering through, several evenings. The laundry & game Room are also nice. We're looking forward to the 2020 Camping Season at Big Pines!Thank you for the genuine hospitality!
