Big Pond RV Park Introduce
If you're searching for "RV parks near me" and seeking a location that offers a blend of peaceful camping and potential unique experiences, Big Pond RV Park in Metter, Georgia, might be worth considering. This RV park has garnered both positive and negative feedback from visitors, providing a balanced perspective for prospective campers. Let's delve into what Big Pond RV Park has to offer based on the available reviews.
A Laid-Back and Quiet Environment: Relaxation in Rural Georgia
One recurring theme in the positive feedback for Big Pond RV Park is its laid-back and quiet atmosphere. For those looking to escape the noise and commotion of everyday life, this park appears to offer a serene environment. One reviewer described it as "very laid back and quiet," suggesting a tranquil setting where visitors can unwind and enjoy the peace of the Georgia countryside. This type of environment can be particularly appealing to individuals or couples seeking a relaxing retreat.
Fishing at the Big Pond: A Complimentary Amenity
A significant perk highlighted by a satisfied guest is the opportunity to fish in the "big pond" at no extra cost for those staying at the RV park. This amenity can be a major draw for fishing enthusiasts and families looking for an engaging outdoor activity. The enjoyment expressed by the reviewer's children further suggests that the pond is accessible and suitable for family fishing experiences. However, it's important to note that another reviewer mentioned having to pay extra for fishing, indicating a potential inconsistency or misunderstanding regarding this amenity. It would be prudent to clarify the fishing policy directly with the park management before your stay.
Seasonal Fresh Produce: A Unique Farm-to-Camper Experience
A distinctive feature of Big Pond RV Park, as mentioned in a positive review, is the availability of fresh produce during the summer months. The park is located on the same property as a farm, offering campers the unique opportunity to access farm-fresh goods. This could be a significant advantage for those who appreciate fresh, locally sourced food and adds a unique element to the camping experience. Imagine preparing meals with just-picked fruits and vegetables during your stay.
Accommodation Options: Suitable for Various Durations
The positive review suggests that Big Pond RV Park caters to both short-term and long-term stays, describing it as "the best place to camp for a night, weekend, or even stay long term!" This flexibility can be appealing to a wide range of travelers, from those just passing through to individuals seeking a longer temporary residence in their RV.
Cleanliness and Friendliness: Positive Interactions
The same positive review also commends the park for being "clean and friendly." Clean facilities are essential for a comfortable camping experience, and friendly staff can significantly enhance a visitor's stay. This suggests that, for some guests, Big Pond RV Park provides a welcoming and well-maintained environment.
Concerns Regarding Kid-Friendly Activities: A Potential Drawback for Families
In contrast to the positive feedback, one reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction, particularly regarding the lack of activities for children. They stated, "If you have kids, don't go! There is nothing to do but fish and you have to pay extra for that." This starkly contrasts with the other reviewer's positive experience with their children fishing. This discrepancy could indicate that the availability and cost of fishing might vary, or that the park may not offer a wide array of activities beyond fishing. Families traveling with children who require diverse entertainment options should take this feedback into serious consideration and potentially inquire about specific kid-friendly amenities or activities available during their intended stay.
Booking and Payment Issues: A Critical Concern
The negative review also raised a serious issue regarding the booking and payment process. The reviewer stated they "booked and paid on hip camp app and then was told the host doesn't get the money." This indicates a potential problem with the park's integration with the booking platform or internal communication. Such issues can lead to significant stress and inconvenience for travelers upon arrival. The subsequent experience of being told they "couldn't be there pretty much" despite having a confirmed and paid booking is highly concerning.
Unsatisfactory Host Interaction: A Negative Experience
The interaction with the host, as described in the negative review, was far from positive. While the host reportedly allowed the family to stay for the initially booked night, they were asked to leave by noon the following day and were even threatened with the involvement of the Sheriff if they did not comply. This type of interaction is clearly unacceptable and highlights a significant potential issue with customer service at Big Pond RV Park. Prospective visitors should be aware of this reported experience.
Overall Assessment: A Mixed Bag of Experiences
Based on the limited review information available, Big Pond RV Park appears to be a location with both positive attributes and significant drawbacks. On the positive side, it offers a potentially laid-back and quiet environment, the possibility of complimentary fishing, and unique access to fresh farm produce during the summer. It also seems to cater to both short-term and long-term stays and has been described as clean and friendly by some visitors.
However, there are also serious concerns raised in a negative review regarding the lack of activities for children (beyond potentially costly fishing), significant issues with the booking and payment process, and a highly negative interaction with the host, including a threat of involving law enforcement. These are critical factors that potential visitors must consider.
Recommendations for Potential Visitors: Proceed with Caution and Inquire Directly
Given the conflicting feedback, it is strongly recommended that anyone considering a stay at Big Pond RV Park contact the management directly using the provided phone number ((912) 682-8557 or +1 912-682-8557) before making a booking. It is crucial to inquire about the following:
- The current policy and cost for fishing in the big pond.
- The availability of any activities or amenities specifically for children.
- The park's booking and payment procedures, especially if using third-party platforms like Hipcamp, to ensure a smooth and confirmed reservation.
- The park's policies regarding cancellations and refunds.
- Any specific rules or regulations that guests should be aware of.
- The availability and typical timing of fresh farm produce.
By directly engaging with the park management, potential visitors can gain a clearer understanding of the current conditions and policies at Big Pond RV Park and make an informed decision based on their individual needs and expectations. The contrasting reviews highlight the importance of thorough research and direct communication to avoid potential disappointment or negative experiences.
In conclusion, while Big Pond RV Park may offer a peaceful setting and some unique features like access to fresh produce, the serious concerns raised in one of the reviews regarding booking issues, lack of kid-friendly activities, and negative host interaction should not be overlooked. Local users searching for "RV parks near me" should weigh these factors carefully and conduct thorough due diligence before choosing Big Pond RV Park for their camping needs.

Big Pond RV Park Reviews
Love Big Pond!! It's the best place to camp for a night, weekend, or even stay long term! Clean and friendly! Very laid back and quiet! And during the summer months there is plenty of fresh produce right from the farm that is located on the same property! When you stay you can fish the big pond at no extra cost!! Our kids loved it and had a blast!!
Mar 28, 2024 · Eric PearsonA waste of money! If you have kids, don't go! There is nothing to do but fish and you have to pay extra for that. Plus, we booked and paid on hip camp app and then was told the host doesn't get the money. So, we showed up, set up, and then was told we couldn't be there pretty much. The only good thing is the host let us stay for the night we booked but wanted us gone after that. He even threatened to call the Sheriff if we didn't leave by noon! Terrible experience!!
