Cal Expo RV Park Introduce
For those searching for 'RV parks near me' in Sacramento, California, Cal Expo RV Park, located at 1600 Exposition Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95815, USA, offers a secure and conveniently situated option. Based on recent customer reviews, this RV park provides essential amenities and a sense of safety, although some aspects may vary depending on the time of year. Its location within the Cal Expo grounds offers potential proximity to events and attractions, while its direct access to the American River path is a significant advantage for outdoor enthusiasts.
Security appears to be a notable feature of Cal Expo RV Park. One reviewer mentions the presence of a security guard who conducts rounds at night, along with daytime rounds by management. This emphasis on security can provide peace of mind for travelers concerned about the safety of their RV and belongings. The feeling of being safe and secure is a crucial factor when choosing an RV park, especially in an urban environment.
The park offers basic but essential amenities, including bathrooms with showers. It's worth noting that there is a $20 key deposit required for access, which is refunded upon check-out. This system ensures that the facilities are accessible to registered guests. A laundry room is also available, although its operating hours are limited until 4 pm, which might be a consideration for those needing to do laundry later in the day.
A standout feature of Cal Expo RV Park, according to one reviewer, is the dog park. This amenity is highly valued by RV travelers who bring their pets along, providing a dedicated and safe space for dogs to exercise and socialize. The same reviewer also describes the people at the park as "very friendly," contributing to a positive community atmosphere. Additionally, the park is characterized as "quiet" and "clean," and the customer service is described as "good," all of which enhance the overall experience for guests.
Another reviewer who stayed in November provides a slightly different perspective, noting that their experience might vary depending on the time of year. They describe the park as a "parking lot" in terms of its layout, but it adequately met their needs for a week at a fair price of $300. This suggests that while the aesthetic might be basic, the functionality and cost-effectiveness can be appealing. However, they did mention an initial issue with being "crammed together" despite available space, which improved as the week progressed. This indicates that site spacing might not always be optimal upon arrival but could become more comfortable over time.
Despite the basic nature of the park, this reviewer also felt "safe and secure," reinforcing the earlier comment about security. A significant drawback mentioned was flooding after rain, which is an important environmental consideration for potential visitors, especially during wetter seasons. The dog park was described as "adequate," suggesting it meets basic needs but might not be exceptional.
The staff is consistently described as "friendly" across both reviews, highlighting a positive aspect of the customer service at Cal Expo RV Park. This can significantly impact the overall experience, making guests feel welcome and supported during their stay.
One unique and highly beneficial feature mentioned by the second reviewer is the direct access to the American River path. This is a major draw for those who enjoy outdoor activities such as biking, walking, or running. The convenience of being able to directly access this extensive recreational trail from the RV park is a significant advantage for active travelers.
The second reviewer also raises a point of concern regarding the reservation process. They found it "odd" that the park collected not only credit card information but also their driver's license details. They express a concern about the security of this personal information and the potential risk of identity fraud if it were to fall into the wrong hands. This is a valid consideration for potential guests, and it might be prudent to inquire about the park's data security measures when making a reservation.
In conclusion, Cal Expo RV Park in Sacramento offers a conveniently located and secure option for RV travelers. Its proximity to potential Cal Expo events and direct access to the American River path are significant advantages. While described as somewhat basic in its layout, the park provides essential amenities like bathrooms with showers, laundry (with limited hours), and a notable dog park. The staff is consistently praised for their friendliness. However, potential guests should be aware of the $20 key deposit, the possibility of initial crowded site arrangements, and the reported issue of flooding after rain. Additionally, the park's policy of collecting driver's license information during reservations is a point to consider regarding data privacy. Overall, for those prioritizing security, location, and access to the American River path at a fair price, Cal Expo RV Park is worth considering among the 'RV parks near me' in Sacramento. Direct contact with the park at (916) 263-3187 is recommended to inquire about current rates, site availability, and to address any concerns regarding their reservation policies and amenities.

Cal Expo RV Park Reviews
Has bathrooms with showers. $20 key deposit that is refunded back when you check out. Has a security guard that does his rounds at night. And during the day management does rounds. They have a laundry room but it's only open til 4pm. The best feature is the dog park. Very friendly people, it's quiet, clean and good customer service.
May 08, 2025 · Kelly AndrewsWas here in November, so note that your experience may vary. Despite it being a "parking lot," it more than met our needs for a week, and with a fair price of $300 for the week. On the first night, they crammed us together despite half the park being empty, but as the week went on, the neighbors were more spaced out, and we had a little more room. Park was quiet and felt safe and secure despite the lack of amenities. Flooding was an issue after rain. Dog park was adequate. Staff was friendly. When making reservation over the phone, I thought it odd that they not only collect credit card but also your drivers license information. The possibility of them not securing this personal information with your credit card along with the cvc# could possibly lead to identity fraud in the future if this info gets into the wrong hands. I'm not sure why they would also need your drivers license when making a reservation. I've never been asked for that before. Otherwise, it was an overall pleasant stay. If you have bikes, then it's even better with direct access to the American River path.
Nov 16, 2024 · Richard FryWe had a good experience! Prices were very reasonable, true there were hardly any amenities but that’s not what we were there for. The park is right next to a bike trail, which was great and we utilized during our stay. The bathrooms/showers weren’t the nicest but they were useable.
Nov 19, 2024 · Hannah HowellCENTRALLY LOCATED, SACRAMENTO METRO AREABig-rig friendly for getting around in the park, flat, graveled, (some paved sites), full hookups. No shade in the center (majority of spaces). Shade is on edges near fences. Check Google Maps if shade is important to you. This location is quiet for being surrounded by a busy and bustling business district. Food and shopping is very close. My Favorite: The people at the front desk. Funny, quick to laugh and professional. Thank you all!
Nov 16, 2024 · TB El ConsideradoDO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE DOGS. Stayed at this RV park before. Let me start off by saying they only have one dog park. The rules are if someone is waiting then you limit yourself 15 minutes. The management over here take their dogs and just sit there for over an hour. Their dogs don’t like bigger dogs and you’re not allowed to walk your dogs elsewhere. As management, they should also be following the rules and they don’t. I have a big dog, a Great Dane and I couldn’t take him potty because management was there sitting with his dogs for over an hour. It’s either you wait at the gate til he leaves or let your dog have accidents inside. I couldn’t post this while I was there, but now that I’m gone, I can post it now. They need better management
