Castroville RV Park Introduce
For local users seeking "RV parks near me" in the historic town of Castroville, Texas, Castroville RV Park, located at 816 Alsace Ave, presents a location with promising natural features, including river access and trails. However, recent reviews offer a mixed perspective on the overall experience, highlighting both potential positives and areas that may need improvement. It's important for prospective visitors to consider these varying viewpoints when evaluating this RV park for their stay.
One recent reviewer expressed significant dissatisfaction with their experience, particularly considering the $45 nightly rate. They described their site as being cluttered with branches and eggcorns, and noted the presence of raid cans from a neighboring site. A notable absence was a picnic table at their site, while they observed that full-time residents did have them. The reviewer took it upon themselves to clean up the branches to ensure the safety of their dog and cat. While they acknowledged that falling eggcorns are a natural occurrence, they felt that a simple task like raking up branches prior to a new arrival was a reasonable expectation, especially given that cones were placed on the site, indicating it was known to be messy.
Furthermore, this reviewer mentioned that their site felt cramped due to the close proximity of the neighbor, limiting their ability to comfortably sit outside. They also noted the poor condition of the picnic table in the "common" area, which was covered in cobwebs – another issue they felt could have been easily rectified with minimal effort. This reviewer concluded that the park has "great potential" but is currently being let down by a lack of attention to basic cleanliness and site preparation, suggesting that a little more effort in raking and ensuring full-time residents maintain tidy spaces could significantly enhance the guest experience.
In contrast to this negative experience, another reviewer offered a concise and enthusiastic "Amazing site!!!" without providing further details. This suggests that some visitors have had highly positive experiences at Castroville RV Park, although the reasons for this positive assessment are not elaborated upon.
Another visitor, who had not yet used their RV at the park but was planning to, shared observations from a visit with children. They noted that while the park "isn't big," it offers "poop, hiking and walking trails and amazing river access." The mention of "poop" is unclear in this context and could be a typographical error or a local term. However, the highlighting of hiking and walking trails and excellent river access suggests significant natural recreational opportunities for visitors. This reviewer also pointed out that entrance to the park is free, which could be appealing to those wishing to explore the grounds before committing to an RV site.
Practical aspects mentioned by this visitor include "plenty of parking space" and the interesting experience of seeing "deers and raccoons came out at dusk!!" This indicates a natural environment where wildlife can be observed, adding to the charm for nature enthusiasts. They also noted that "everything they do is by reservation only," which is important for potential visitors to be aware of when planning their stay or activities within the park.
Regarding RV amenities, this reviewer stated that "RV prices are fair," and that "dump stations, power 30 and 50 amp available and potable water as well." These are essential hookups for RV travelers, ensuring a comfortable and functional stay. The reviewer concluded by recommending Castroville RV Park as "a great place to spend the summer hot days of Texas," suggesting that the river access and natural surroundings provide a refreshing escape from the heat.
Based on these reviews, Castroville RV Park offers a natural environment with key features like river access, hiking and walking trails, and opportunities for wildlife viewing. The availability of essential RV amenities such as dump stations, 30 and 50 amp power, and potable water is also a plus. The park's pricing is perceived as fair by at least one visitor, and the free entrance for visiting the grounds might be attractive to those wanting to explore before booking.
However, potential drawbacks include concerns about site cleanliness and maintenance, as highlighted by one reviewer who experienced a cluttered site without a picnic table and a poorly maintained common area. This suggests that the level of care and preparation of individual sites may vary, and that common areas might not always be in optimal condition. The close proximity of sites could also be a concern for some visitors seeking more space and privacy.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. The mention of "fair RV prices" could be interpreted as a positive aspect of their pricing strategy, but specific discounts or special offers are not mentioned. The free entrance to the park for visiting might be seen as a form of promotion, allowing potential customers to see the facilities and natural attractions firsthand before making a reservation.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" in Castroville, Texas, Castroville RV Park presents a location with appealing natural features like river access and trails, as well as essential RV amenities. However, it is important to be aware of the potential for inconsistent site cleanliness and maintenance, as reported by one visitor. The positive comments about the natural environment and fair pricing should be balanced against these concerns. Prospective visitors may want to inquire about the specific condition of their assigned site and the availability of amenities like picnic tables when making a reservation.
To gain a more comprehensive understanding of Castroville RV Park, local users are encouraged to contact them directly at (830) 931-0033 or +1 830-931-0033. Inquiring about site availability, specific amenities at each site, the condition of common areas, and any current policies regarding site maintenance would be beneficial. Reading additional online reviews from various sources might also provide a broader range of perspectives on the park and help potential visitors make an informed decision.
In conclusion, Castroville RV Park offers a location with natural attractions like river access and trails, along with essential RV amenities and potentially fair pricing. However, feedback regarding site cleanliness and maintenance is mixed, suggesting that the quality of individual sites and common areas may vary. Local users considering this park should weigh the potential benefits of its natural features and pricing against the reported inconsistencies in upkeep and consider contacting the park directly for more detailed information before booking their stay.

Castroville RV Park Reviews
For $45 a night, our spot was graced with branches, eggcorns, and raid cans from the neighbor and no picnic table! I cleaned up the branches to prevent the dog and cat from getting tangled up in them. All the full timers had picnic tables, and the lots were mostly a mess. I know eggcorns are going to fall for days, I had no issues with that, but it would take two minutes to take a rake and rake up branches when you know the spot is rented, you put cones there so you know it was a mess! We were not able to sit outside because were so tight fit with the neighbor. The picnic table in the "common" area was loaded with webs, another 2 minute job that could have improved this score. It could have great potential if they just put a little effort into using a rake and having full timers pick up trash and keep the spaces tidy.

Jul 10, 2021 · Sandra IbarraThe 4.7 rating on Google is misleading. Many of the ratings are for the Regional Park, not the RV park. The sites are so close together that you can not put your awning out if you wanted to. The recreational room and camp shower house are in poor condition and need to be remodeled. The mass majority of the sites were full timers. There were stray cats everywhere. But the size of the dog park was nice, the trash in there was full for two days after we arrived.
