Deer Creek Valley RV Park Introduce
Are you searching for "RV parks near me" in the Topeka, Kansas area? Deer Creek Valley RV Park, located at 3140 SE 21st St, Topeka, KS 66607, USA, presents itself as a noteworthy option for RV travelers. Based on the available customer reviews, the park offers several appealing features, particularly for those with larger rigs, but potential drawbacks regarding reservations and amenities should also be considered.
One reviewer described their stop at Deer Creek Valley RV Park as "WHAT A FIND!" They highlighted the "beautiful spot" and its suitability for "big rig friendly" RVs. The presence of "great spots with concrete and gazebo" was also a significant positive. While noting the absence of ice or a store on-site, the reviewer was impressed by the owner's gesture of personally delivering a bag of ice free of charge, stating, "Can't ask for more." This positive experience suggests a well-maintained park with spacious sites and potentially accommodating owners.
However, another, more detailed review recounts a significant issue with the reservation process. According to this reviewer, their husband called in the morning and successfully made a reservation for the last available site, providing all necessary information, including credit card details. Despite this, upon arriving at the campground after a 302-mile drive, they were informed that their reservation was not in the system and that there were no sites available. The employee reportedly remembered speaking with the husband but had failed to complete the reservation in the computer system, causing considerable frustration.
The situation became somewhat convoluted when, after the husband expressed his wife's intention to review the experience online, the employee, who had initially stated there were no sites, then claimed they would "figure out something" and magically found a site. While the reviewer acknowledges that their husband should have followed up with a call when no confirmation was received, they also express their personal opinion that the initial denial of a site might have been based on a prejudiced assessment of their "hippy looking husband," rather than actual availability, as there were older RVs in the park.
Despite the negative experience with the reservation process, this second reviewer provided a detailed description of the campground itself. They confirmed that Deer Creek Valley RV Park is indeed "built for big rigs," with each site featuring a "covered patio area, a picnic table and full hook ups." The reviewer also noted "adequate space between the sites," easily accommodating large rigs and tow vehicles. The park offers one washroom facility with laundry and showers (though the shower setup with curtains and no dry area was considered "kind of weird"), as well as a storm cellar. The "wide roads" within the park were appreciated for allowing easy maneuvering of large RVs without damaging the landscaping.
This second reviewer concluded that, were it not for the initial issue with the employee and the reservation, they would have rated the campground a "high 4 or a 5," based on the quality of the facilities and the overall layout of the park.
Considering these reviews, the environment of Deer Creek Valley RV Park appears to be well-suited for RVers, particularly those with larger rigs. The presence of concrete pads and gazebos at each site suggests a degree of care and investment in the infrastructure. The spaciousness between sites and the wide roads contribute to a comfortable and easily navigable environment. The mention of a storm cellar indicates a focus on safety, which is a valuable feature, especially in areas prone to severe weather.
The services and features of Deer Creek Valley RV Park include full hookups at each site, laundry facilities, and showers. The availability of a storm cellar is a notable safety feature. However, the lack of an on-site store or ice is a point to consider, requiring visitors to source these necessities elsewhere. The positive interaction with the owner providing free ice suggests a willingness to go the extra mile for guests, but this might not be a standard service.
Promotional information for Deer Creek Valley RV Park is somewhat limited to the positive aspects highlighted in the reviews. The park's suitability for big rigs, the attractive concrete pads and gazebos, and the full hookups are definite selling points. The quiet atmosphere noted by one reviewer could also be appealing to those seeking a peaceful camping experience. The owner's apparent helpfulness, as demonstrated by the ice delivery, could also be seen as a promotional aspect, suggesting a customer-friendly approach.
However, the significant issue with the reservation process and the negative perception of potential bias by one employee are serious concerns that prospective visitors must consider. While the park itself seems well-equipped, the reliability of the reservation system and the professionalism of all staff members appear to be areas that might need attention.
For local users in Topeka, KS, searching for "RV parks near me," Deer Creek Valley RV Park offers attractive amenities, particularly for those with larger RVs who appreciate spacious sites with concrete pads and gazebos. The full hookups and the presence of laundry and shower facilities are also beneficial. However, the reported issue with the reservation system and the potential for inconsistent customer service are factors that should be taken into account.
Prospective visitors should contact Deer Creek Valley RV Park at (785) 357-8555 or +1 785-357-8555 to inquire about current rates, site availability, and their reservation policies and procedures. It might be wise to confirm any reservation made with a follow-up call or email to ensure it is correctly entered into their system. Additionally, inquiring about the availability of ice or nearby stores for supplies could be helpful for planning purposes.
A visit to the park, if feasible, could allow potential guests to assess the environment and the facilities firsthand. Observing the layout of the sites, the condition of the amenities, and the general atmosphere of the park could contribute to a more informed decision.
In conclusion, Deer Creek Valley RV Park in Topeka, KS, offers a well-equipped and spacious environment, particularly suitable for big rigs, with attractive features like concrete pads and gazebos. While one reviewer praised their positive experience and the owner's helpfulness, another reported a significant issue with the reservation process and raised concerns about potential bias. Local users seeking "RV parks near me" should weigh the positive aspects of the park's facilities against the potential drawbacks in customer service and reservation reliability, and take proactive steps to ensure a smooth booking process.

Deer Creek Valley RV Park Reviews
Stopped here before KS. WHAT A FIND!Beautiful spot, big rig friendly, and an great spots with concrete and gazebo. They don't have ice or a store, but the owner had a bag of ice and delivered it to us free! Can't ask for more. Sorry about the dirty camper
Mar 25, 2025 · Robert ChilcoteMy husband called in the morning and made a reservation for a site, he was told that there was one site available. husband gave all our information including his credit card information. We thought we were good to go.We drive the 302 miles to the campground and when my husband gets there, the person who was checking him in says we don’t have your reservation and we have no more sites. What? The employee remembers talking with my husband, but didn’t complete the reservation in their computer. WTH? Hubby is ready to blow a gasket, informs the guy that he has a wife who loves to review places on line. And the guy tells my husband to not be belligerent and he’ll figure out something.Wait, you just said there are no sites available. Now, magically, there is a site?True, when my hubby didn’t receive a confirmation email or text, he should have taken a minute to call the campground again. Yes, that’s on him. But we have been traveling from Michigan to Arizona and now halfway home and haven’t had a problem until now.My personal opinion is that the employee took one look at my hippy looking husband and decided he didn’t want us camping there. It wasn’t because our camper is old, there were older ones (see pictures), it was just my husband. Here’s the campground review: this is an RV park, built for big rigs. Each site has a covered patio area, a picnic table and full hook ups. There is adequate space between the sites, room for the largest rigs and tow vehicles. There is one washroom, with laundry and shower (kind of weird with curtains and no area to lay a bag or clothes) facilities and a storm cellar. The roads are wide allowing for turns without running over the grass. This campground would be rated a high 4 or a 5 if not for the employee at the beginning of this story.
Oct 28, 2024 · Elizabeth ThompsonDeer Creek Valley RV Park is big rig friendly. We stayed for a night in a 45' 5th wheel. Most all sites are pull-through, and long enough that we did not have to unhook. Sites are also roomy from side to side.Everyone we interacted with at the park was friendly and helpful. All sites are fairly level, and include a picnic table. Water pressure was good, and the quality was great. They have a large dog park, and plenty of open spaces to walk your four-legged friends. They have a nice size pool, and a small playground for kids. The park adheres to quiet times, and was very quite in the evenings. The park is located minutes away from many restaurants and shopping. This location had good cell service from AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. If this review was helpful, please give it a thumbs up. Thanks
Sep 18, 2023 · Dave CiprianiWe stayed here for a week in October 2022. Very impressed with this park overall. Nice spacious dog park, decent playground, and a nice pool, though it was obviously closed at the time of the year when we visited. Sites are large and spacious, people are friendly, packages are allowed, and shower and laundry building is nice as well. Some ideas for improvement: turns onto interior roads are a bit tight, we had to remove from stakes and go a bit into the grass to make a turn with our large rig; water would be nice in the dog park for the dogs, and an online reservation system. Also, don't miss the BBQ from Lonnie's nearby restaurant- just go early, they sell out fast!Update: We stayed here again in June of 2023 on our way back out west. This was supposed to be a one night overnight stop, but my wife had to go to the ER with acute pancreatitis, and ended up being hospitalized for a week. The staff at Deer Creek Valley RV Park were extremely accommodating at a time when we were under considerable stress. They moved some things around to ensure that we could not only extend our stay for the time she was in the hospital, but they made it so we didn't have to change campsites and even allowed us time after her surgery for recovery. Extremely grateful to the staff for their flexibility!
Jun 26, 2023 · David BottomleyIf you're in the area and need a place to recharge for a day or few, this is the place. It's a parking lot campground, but the sites are large, level concrete sites with well maintained grass around your site. The entire place is kept clean and long term residents take pride in their sites. Dog park is huge. Pool area is very nice. Very quiet and relaxing. My favorite part is for a small fee they will let you wash your camper and vehicle on site. They appreciate the value in our rigs.
