One of the primary features highlighted by reviewers is the park's exceptional location, directly adjacent to the Kaskaskia Dragon. This makes it an ideal spot for RVers wanting to easily view this local landmark. While the park itself is described as "not a large RV park with numerous amenities," its prime location is a significant advantage for those specifically visiting the dragon or passing through the area.
Security is another positive aspect noted by a visitor. Despite being quite busy during their visit, they reported feeling it was a "secure place to rest," whether for those working in the area or simply passing through. This sense of safety can be a crucial factor for RV travelers seeking peace of mind during their journey.
For budget-conscious travelers exploring "RV parks near me," Kaskaskia Dragon RV Park appears to be an attractive option. One reviewer specifically mentioned the affordable rate of "$25/night," stating that "you cant complain about this little campground" at that price point. This affordability makes it a viable choice for those looking for a cost-effective overnight stay or a basecamp for exploring the surrounding area without breaking the bank.

A unique feature of the location is the opportunity to interact with the Kaskaskia Dragon itself. For a nominal fee of "$1," visitors can purchase a token to make the dragon "breathe fire." Interestingly, even people staying at the campground were observed stopping by to experience this novelty, suggesting it's a popular and engaging attraction for visitors of all kinds.
Considering the information available, the environment of Kaskaskia Dragon RV Park seems to be functional and geared towards providing a convenient and secure stopover rather than a resort-style experience with extensive on-site amenities. The focus is clearly on its proximity to the Kaskaskia Dragon and the accessibility of nearby essential services. In terms of services and features directly within the RV park, the reviews provide limited details. The absence of mentions of amenities like a pool, clubhouse, or extensive recreational facilities suggests that these may not be present or are not the primary focus of this park. However, the mention of a secure environment implies that basic necessities such as hookups for water, electricity, and sewer are likely available for RVs. Given its nature as a place to "rest," it can be inferred that the park offers campsites suitable for various sizes of RVs.
The primary feature of Kaskaskia Dragon RV Park is undoubtedly its location right by the Kaskaskia Dragon attraction. The affordability, as highlighted by the $25/night rate in one review, is another significant feature, making it an attractive option for budget travelers. The security mentioned by a guest adds to its appeal as a safe place to stay. The proximity to essential off-site amenities like a laundromat, liquor store, and hardware store further enhances its practicality for travelers.
Promotional information is not explicitly mentioned in the provided reviews. However, the very affordable nightly rate of $25 (as mentioned in one review, though this could be subject to change) can be considered a form of value proposition. Kaskaskia Dragon RV Park Reviews
This is a fantastic location to catch a glimpse of the Kaskaskia Dragon. While it isn't a large RV park with numerous amenities, it’s conveniently situated right by the dragon. When we visited, it was quite busy, but it felt like a secure place to rest, whether you’re working or just passing through.
Nov 07, 2024 · L GrabbWe wanted a place to meet up with friends and visit the Cahokia mounds without being too close to St. Louis. For $25/night, you cant complain about this little campground. There is a laundrymat, liquor store and hardware store right across the street. For $1 you can buy a token to make the dragon breathe fire. People stopped to make the dragon burn that were even staying in the campground.
Sep 29, 2024 · RV Manifest DestinyI am a very skeptical person. We needed a stop over for a long distance trip and we found Kaskaskia online. Easy in, easy out. Full hook ups. The dragon is fun. The people at the hardware store where you check in were very friendly. The grounds are well kept and despite its location being next to a busy road, the sound was not very loud. We were even greeted by the northern lights which I hadn't seen since moving from Alaska some years ago. I highly recommend this place to anyone passing through.
May 11, 2024 · Patrick YohnEasy access. Large level gravel spots. Book online and park yourself. cant get any easer. Buy tokens for the fire breathing dragon $1 for about 15sec. We returned Dec 24th 2024 laundry and liquor store across street hardware close by
Dec 27, 2024 · Murf077This is not a campground as you might imagine. There are 12 pull through full hookup sites across the road from a well stocked hardware store (under the water tower) and that's where you check in at the hardware store cash register.Just park on the side of the road before you get to the store. This is a safe place to stay for one night if traveling I-70. It's about a mile from the interstate and no traffic noise. Sites are gravel and fairly level. There are no restrooms, showers, trash cans or laundromat, but directly across the road you'll find a convenience/ liquor store, a laundromat, car wash, and a pet wash. Everything you need for an overnight rest. When you are done checking in at the hardware store the clerk will give you a couple of tokens to light up the fire breathing dragon next to the camp sites. Light him up when it's dark for the best pictures. Each token gets you 10 seconds of flame!
