When searching for "RV parks near me" that combine peaceful surroundings with access to outdoor recreation, this campground stands out, particularly for those who appreciate a well-kept environment and personalized service. The environment surrounding Kings River Hitchin’ Post RV & Campground is a significant draw, characterized by a "beautiful landscape" and a notably "quiet" atmosphere. The campground's most prominent feature is its direct access to the "gorgeous" Kings River. This pristine river offers opportunities for various water activities, and the ability to float directly from or to the campground is a unique perk, especially convenient for those with their own 4x4 vehicles for self-shuttling. The limited number of sites contributes to the peaceful ambiance, offering a more secluded and less crowded camping experience, allowing guests to truly unwind and immerse themselves in the natural surroundings.
The RV and camping sites themselves are described as "very big with plenty of room between," ensuring privacy and ample space for setting up and enjoying the outdoors. Each site is thoughtfully equipped with a picnic table and a fire ring, essential amenities for comfortable outdoor living and enjoying campfires under the stars. The thoughtful layout and generous spacing between sites enhance the overall sense of tranquility and connection with nature.
Access to the Kings River involves a descent down a hill. While vehicles, particularly those with 4-wheel drive, are permitted to drive around to access the river, the direct path down the hill does not allow regular vehicle traffic. For those without an ATV, the walk back up from the river can be "a bit of a hike." This is an important consideration for individuals with mobility limitations or those planning frequent trips to and from the river. However, for those equipped with 4x4 vehicles or ATVs, the ease of access to the river for floating and other activities is a significant advantage.
The services and hospitality at Kings River Hitchin’ Post RV & Campground are consistently praised in the customer reviews. Frank, the owner or manager, is frequently mentioned for his exceptional service. One reviewer recounts how Frank "went out of his way to assist us ; even met us in town to make sure we had no trouble finding the spot." This level of personal care and dedication to ensuring guests have a smooth arrival is a testament to the welcoming nature of the campground. Frank is also described as "delightful, very helpful, and informative about the area and getting there," indicating that he is a valuable resource for local information and directions.
While the positive feedback regarding Frank's hospitality is overwhelming, one reviewer noted a less pleasant interaction with Frank's wife. However, this appears to be an isolated incident mentioned in the context of an otherwise positive review of the campground and Frank's service.
It is important to note, as mentioned by one of the reviewers, that Kings River Hitchin’ Post RV & Campground was "still under construction" at the time of their visit, resulting in "lots of dust and dirt everywhere." The reviewer wisely suggests bringing a mat or broom to manage this temporary inconvenience. While this is a current condition to be aware of, the reviewer also expresses optimism that "once it's completed it'll be much more enjoyable!" This indicates that the campground is actively working on improvements that will likely enhance the overall guest experience in the future. When contacting the campground, it would be prudent to inquire about the current status of the construction and the expected timeline for completion.

Kings River Hitchin’ Post RV & Campground Reviews
This place is well kept and quite peaceful. There arent a lot of sites but then again that may be why its so peaceful. Frank went out of his way to assist us ; even met us in town to make sure we had no trouble finding the spot. The river is gorgeous and if you have your own 4x4 vehicles you can shuttle yourself and float right from or right to the campground. Hope to visit the Kings river again and if there is availability I know where ill be staying.Thank You Frank!
May 21, 2019 · Chad BakerBeautiful landscape, nice quiet area, and our kids loved playing in the river. It's a bit of a hike back up the hill though if you don't have an ATV and vehicles aren't permitted. You can drive around but will definitely need 4 wheel. Very big spots with plenty of room between, picnic tables at each spot, and a fire ring. Frank was delightful, very helpful, and informative about the area and getting there. His wife was not very friendly or kind and it wasn't a pleasant first impression. They are still under construction so lots of dust and dirt everywhere, so definitely bring a mat or broom. I'm sure once it's completed it'll be much more enjoyable!
Sep 20, 2020 · Summer GlassThis is such a wonderful place to stay. It is very quiet and peaceful, just perfect for that getaway from the busy suburbs. Also close to all the activities the Ozarks and Buffalo River offer. My boys loved it here with the games you have set up and the river so close to camp. Thanks Frank for the pleasure of staying!
