Lake Saunders RV Resort Introduce
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" in the Mount Dora, Florida area, Lake Saunders RV Resort, situated at 1175 Bay Rd, Mt Dora, FL 32757, USA, offers a unique setting. You can contact them at (352) 383-4003 or their mobile number, +1 352-383-4003, for inquiries and reservations.
Based on recent customer feedback, Lake Saunders RV Resort presents a somewhat nuanced experience. One reviewer noted that it might be more accurately described as an RV park with a significant number of permanent residents rather than a traditional RV resort or campground. They did, however, commend the cleanliness of the facility. This reviewer also pointed out that maneuvering might be a little restrictive for larger RV rigs. Despite this, they suggested it could be a suitable option for an overnight stay when regular RV campgrounds are fully booked. A potential drawback mentioned was the presence of many older residents with dogs that bark frequently. Additionally, this reviewer highlighted a significant policy: Lake Saunders RV Resort accepts only cash payments.
In contrast, another recent visitor had a very positive experience during a last-minute Memorial Day reservation. They specifically praised Dan, who they encountered upon arrival on Friday, for being very helpful. This reviewer described the facilities as "extremely clean" and the property as "beautiful and well maintained." They also noted the friendliness of the residents and neighbors. A significant highlight for this visitor was the resort's beautiful waterfront location. They highly recommended Lake Saunders RV Resort, advising future guests to pack bug repellent during the summer months. They also mentioned its convenient location, being an 8-minute drive from the heart of Mount Dora and 40 minutes from Wekiwa Springs, and recommended local attractions like Palm Island Park for sunset and Renningers Antique Mall.
Considering these two recent reviews, Lake Saunders RV Resort appears to offer a clean and potentially well-maintained environment, especially noted by the second reviewer. Its waterfront location on Lake Saunders is a significant asset, providing scenic views and potential water-related activities. The friendly demeanor of at least one staff member (Dan) and the residents was also highlighted positively. However, potential visitors should be aware of the predominantly permanent resident population, which might influence the overall atmosphere and the availability of short-term sites. The potential for barking dogs and the cash-only payment policy are also important factors to consider.
When evaluating the environment of Lake Saunders RV Resort, the cleanliness of the property is a notable positive. The waterfront location suggests a potentially tranquil and scenic setting. However, the high number of permanent residents could mean a different dynamic compared to a more transient-focused RV resort. The potential for noise from barking dogs, as mentioned by one reviewer, is a factor that light sleepers or those particularly sensitive to noise should consider. The reported restrictiveness for larger RVs in terms of maneuvering might limit accessibility for some travelers.
In terms of services and features, both reviews provide some insights. The cleanliness of the facilities suggests that basic amenities like restrooms and showers are likely well-maintained. The waterfront location implies potential access to the lake, although the specific services or features related to this (e.g., docks, boat ramps) are not detailed. The positive experience with the staff member, Dan, indicates that at least some staff are helpful and accommodating. The cash-only policy is a crucial piece of information regarding payment methods. The proximity to Mount Dora and Wekiwa Springs offers access to local attractions and natural beauty.
The mention of a "restrictive" environment for larger rigs suggests that the layout and spacing of the RV sites might be better suited for smaller to medium-sized RVs. If you have a particularly large RV, it would be essential to inquire specifically about site suitability and ease of navigation within the park.
The fact that the resort facilitated a last-minute Memorial Day reservation, a peak travel period, suggests that they do accommodate short-term stays, even if the primary demographic appears to be long-term residents. However, the first reviewer's comment about it being a good overnight stop "if a regular RV campground is not available" implies that availability for short-term visitors might sometimes be limited.
The second reviewer's recommendations for local attractions like Palm Island Park for sunset and Renningers Antique Mall provide additional value for visitors looking to explore the Mount Dora area. The proximity to these and other attractions enhances the overall appeal of Lake Saunders RV Resort as a base for local exploration.
Currently, there is no specific promotional information available in the provided reviews. Local users interested in staying at Lake Saunders RV Resort should contact them directly at (352) 383-4003 or +1 352-383-4003 to inquire about current rates, site availability, and any special offers for short-term or long-term stays. It would be advisable to ask specific questions about site sizes and accessibility for larger RVs, the amenities available to short-term guests, and any policies regarding pets and noise.
In conclusion, Lake Saunders RV Resort in Mount Dora, Florida, offers a clean waterfront location with friendly residents and staff, according to one recent visitor. Its proximity to local attractions like Mount Dora and Wekiwa Springs adds to its appeal. However, potential guests should be aware that it functions more as a long-term RV park, which might affect the atmosphere and availability for short-term stays. The potential for noise from dogs and the cash-only payment policy are also important considerations. Visitors with larger RVs should inquire about site suitability. For the most up-to-date information on rates, availability, and any current promotions, direct contact with Lake Saunders RV Resort is recommended.

Lake Saunders RV Resort Reviews
This is not an RV resort or campground for that matter. This is an RV park with mostly permanent residents. The place is very clean. A little restrictive to move around for the bigger rigs. Great place to spend the night if a regular RV campground is not available. Lots of older residents with dogs barking at all times. They accept nothing but cash.
Mar 25, 2025 · Omar RodriguezLast minute reservation for Memorial Day made possible thanks to LS RV Resort. Dan met us on Friday and was very happy to help. Extremely clean facilities, beautiful and well maintained property, friendly residents and neighbors. Beautiful location on the water. Highly recommend this spot! Pack some bug repellent (summer) 8 minute drive from the heart of MT. Dora and 40 minutes from Wekiwa Springs.Go to Palm Island Park early for sunset. Recommend Renningers Antique Mall too.
May 30, 2023 · Devin WalshVery friendly and helpful staff. Well-maintained trailer park with a few RV sites, extremely nice and quiet. A bit of an “old Florida” feel.
Apr 02, 2022 · Kate McKibbenAmy and Dennis are amazing. Great location. Absolutely beautiful lake.
Apr 22, 2024 · Stephanie RothWe were lucky enough to get a spot on The Island and it was lovely! Staff member Dan was so nice and made sure we got settled in. We extended our stay twice and had no issues. If you’re looking for fancy and very upscale this might not be for you but we loved how homey it felt. Sites were clean with working hook ups and friendly, tidy neighbors. Great price and value, would stay here again.
