Southernaire offers a unique blend of quiet residential living and a conveniently accessible location. Drawing from the experiences of long-term residents, we can provide a detailed overview of the environment, services, features, and overall atmosphere of this established community.
Nestled in the picturesque town of Mt Dora, Southernaire benefits from the area's renowned natural beauty, antique shops, and vibrant cultural scene. Mt Dora is known for its scenic lakes, rolling hills, and a welcoming small-town charm, making it an attractive destination for retirees and those seeking a peaceful yet engaging environment. The location of Southernaire on Sanford Road provides residents with convenient access to local amenities, shopping, dining, and healthcare facilities, enhancing the ease of daily living. For those prioritizing accessibility and a tranquil setting when looking at "RV parks near me," Southernaire's location in Mt Dora offers a significant advantage.
Based on the feedback from residents, a defining characteristic of Southernaire is its quiet atmosphere. Multiple reviewers have highlighted the peacefulness of the community, making it an appealing choice for those seeking a serene living environment, particularly within a retirement setting. This tranquility contributes to a relaxed and comfortable lifestyle for the residents. Furthermore, the residents are generally described as friendly, fostering a positive and neighborly environment within the community. While interactions may vary, with some residents being more private and others more social, the overall sentiment suggests a welcoming atmosphere.
In terms of services and features, Southernaire offers a range of amenities designed to cater to the needs and interests of its 55+ residents. While it may not boast an extensive list of modern luxuries like a swimming pool, it provides essential and community-oriented facilities. These include a clubhouse, which serves as a central gathering point for various activities and events. A washateria is available for residents' laundry needs, adding to the convenience of living within the community. For recreational activities, Southernaire features shuffleboard courts, providing an opportunity for friendly competition and outdoor enjoyment. The community also offers board games for residents to use, encouraging social interaction and leisure activities within the clubhouse.
Adding to the sense of community, Southernaire reportedly organizes community events and potluck dinners on occasion. These gatherings provide opportunities for residents to socialize, build relationships, and foster a strong sense of belonging. While not a regular occurrence, these events contribute to the social fabric of the community and enhance the overall living experience. Additionally, residents mention that bingo games are played at times, offering another avenue for social engagement and entertainment.
One notable aspect of the services at Southernaire is the responsibility of residents for their lawn care. Unlike some communities that provide landscaping services, residents at Southernaire are responsible for cutting their own lawns. While this may be a consideration for some, a resident humorously pointed out a potential benefit: a more relaxed approach to landscape design, within reasonable limits. However, it's important to note that the community does have quarterly yard inspections and will issue notices if grass becomes excessively tall, indicating that while individual expression is allowed, a certain level of maintenance is expected.
The community is managed by Julie, who is described by a resident as helpful, friendly, and tough when necessary. This suggests a responsive and effective management style that aims to maintain the community's standards and address residents' concerns in a fair and approachable manner. Having a dedicated and capable manager contributes positively to the overall living experience within Southernaire.
Regarding the cost of living, a resident mentioned that while they find the rent to be high, it's important to remember that Southernaire is a retirement community with many residents on a fixed income. The concern about rent increases impacting their disposable income is a valid point for prospective residents to consider and inquire about. However, another resident noted that the lot rent at Southernaire is comparable to or even lower than that of other communities they have researched, suggesting that the perception of cost can be relative.
Promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews. However, based on the positive aspects highlighted by residents – the quiet atmosphere, friendly people, convenient location, and sense of community – these would likely be key selling points for Southernaire. For individuals searching for "RV parks near me" or considering a permanent move to a 55+ manufactured home community in Mt Dora, Southernaire offers a well-established option with a focus on peaceful living and community engagement. It is advisable to contact Southernaire directly at (888) 533-6157 or +1 888-533-6157 to inquire about current lot availability, pricing for both RVs and manufactured homes, specific amenities, and any ongoing promotions. In conclusion, Southernaire in Mt Dora, Florida, offers a 55+ manufactured housing community characterized by its quiet environment, friendly residents, and convenient location. Southernaire Reviews
I've been here for over 10 years and while it's not perfect, it is by NO means a dump! I think the rent is high, remember this is a retirement community so people are on a fixed income and it's hard when rent is raised, less money in our pockets. The people are basically friendly and it's very conveniently located. It's also very quiet.
Jul 13, 2024 · Marcia HamiltonThis is where I live. It's a quiet over 55 community. We have to cut our own lawns, the side benefit of that.... no rigid protocol on landscape design. Injecting a little humor here 🤔, If you put a toilet in the front yard with a flower in it you might get called out on that!! LOL If grass gets tall they send a notice, and we have quarterly yard inspections. Julie is the manager and she's quite helpful and friendly, yet tough when necessary. The people that live here are seniors for the most part. Like any Community some people keep to themselves and others are more social. I've read some negative reviews about our community. Other places are paying higher lot rent. We don't have a lot of amenities or a swimming pool, but do have a clubhouse, washateria, shuffleboard, board games that you can use. I believe they even play bingo at times. We also have community events, and potluck dinners every so often.Personally I think my community is awesome. I ignore grumpy people, and disassociate myself from those that are negative.
Feb 15, 2023 · RayleneA beautiful little park !This past Sunday was the first time I'd seen it. I was excited to ride through it because I'd met the Mgr Julia a few weeks before in Orlando. I'd just happened to mention that I planned on retiring in a 55 plus Mobile Home park up in that area. Just so happens she was the Mgr.I can't wait to call her in a day or so and discuss more details about the park.God is AMAZING !!! 🙏🌿
Aug 04, 2021 · Angela JFor the amount of lot rent you would think that they would clean the streets They do not trim trees . They say that we are responsible . ?? The land is theirs ,but the trees ours? It could be a nice park if people would not dump ln the streets. Maybe if the park would cut the grass , trim trees ,clean streets and build retaining walls where needed. The people would take more pride in their places.
May 31, 2017 · Jo WilcoxonThis place is a freaking dump , rent is high , no amenities . Yes Eric is still here caught him walking around 10:30 pm as I was coming home from work , he has been arrested multiple times , why can’t you evict him , this is supposed to be 55 and up park . Oh and for everyone’s information , there are three tenants that have rats including myself . Take out the shuffleboard courts and put in a pool , for the profit you make off this land . I hope the road goes right through this park . I am only here cause I can’t afford to move at the moment . And staff does not need to be coming in my screen room , which I believe is trespassing . You threaten to remove my pets from my trailer and you will have a huge lawsuit on your hands , and by the way , my animals are always on a leash . If something is not done about this rat problem , I will commence to call the county , then the state then channel 9 news and public ally embarrass you and have your little trailer park condemned.
