Lazy JD RV Park Introduce
If you're searching for "RV parks near me" in the Summerset, South Dakota area, Lazy JD RV Park, located at 12336 Erickson Ranch Rd, Summerset, SD 57769, USA, presents a compelling option. You can reach them at (605) 787-7036 or +1 605-787-7036. Based on recent customer reviews, Lazy JD RV Park is a small, well-kept facility offering essential amenities and a tranquil environment, making it a pleasant stop for travelers.
The environment at Lazy JD RV Park is described as "very well kept," indicating a commitment to cleanliness and maintenance. With only 22 spots, it offers a more intimate and potentially quieter atmosphere compared to larger RV parks. Its location, approximately 5 miles off the freeway, is appreciated by guests who prefer a more peaceful setting away from the immediate noise of highway traffic. The presence of a "nice field to walk and run our dog" highlights its pet-friendly nature and provides a valuable amenity for travelers with animals.
Lazy JD RV Park offers a range of services and features designed to cater to the needs of RV travelers. These include:
- Full Hookups (FHU): Each of the 22 spots is equipped with 110v, 30A, and 50A electrical service, as well as water and sewer hookups, providing all the necessary connections for a comfortable stay.
- Shower House/Bathrooms: The park features four shower houses/bathrooms, suggesting adequate facilities for the number of sites.
- Laundry Facilities: Guests have access to a laundry area with a new washer and dryer, making it convenient for longer stays. While there is only one of each super large machine, the fact that they are new and available is a significant benefit. The cost is reported as $1.50 per wash and $1.50 per dry.
- Decent Sized Spots: The RV spots are described as "decent sized" and are 70-foot long pull-throughs, which is particularly convenient for larger rigs and those preferring not to back in. However, one reviewer noted that sometimes other guests do not follow proper parking procedures by not pulling far enough forward.
- Pet-Friendly: The availability of a nice field for dog walking and running makes Lazy JD RV Park a welcoming place for travelers with pets.
- Clean Facilities: Multiple reviewers specifically mentioned that the bathrooms and showers were clean and in good working condition, indicating a high standard of hygiene.
While Lazy JD RV Park offers many desirable features, it's important to note the absence of Wi-Fi. However, one guest reported having 4-5 bars of 5G on their AT&T service, suggesting that cellular data may be a viable alternative for staying connected.
The promotional aspects of Lazy JD RV Park can be inferred from the positive customer reviews. The repeated stays by some guests ("stayed here for a week a couple times this summer," "We'll stay again when we pass through on our next trip") indicate a high level of satisfaction and a willingness to return. The description of the park as "quite, chill and pleasant" promotes a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere. The positive comments about the cleanliness of the facilities and the helpfulness of the owner, Ann ("Ann was very nice"), further enhance its appeal.
The fact that the park is small (22 spots) could be seen as both a feature and a potential limitation. The smaller size likely contributes to the quiet and well-kept nature of the park, but it also means that availability might be limited, especially during peak travel seasons. The long pull-through sites are a significant advantage for ease of access and setup, particularly for larger RVs.
The mention that you must call to book a stay ("You must call though") provides essential information for potential guests on how to make reservations. This personal touch might also allow for direct communication with the owner, Ann, who is reported to be very nice.
In conclusion, if you are looking for "RV parks near me" in the Summerset, SD area, Lazy JD RV Park offers a well-maintained, quiet, and pleasant option. Its full hookups, clean facilities (including bathrooms, showers, and laundry), and long pull-through sites cater well to the needs of RV travelers. The pet-friendly environment and the owner's reported friendliness add to its appeal. While Wi-Fi is not available, strong cellular service may compensate for this. The park's small size suggests a more peaceful experience, but also the potential need to book in advance by calling the provided phone numbers. The positive repeat business and enthusiastic reviews indicate that Lazy JD RV Park is a reliable and enjoyable place to stay when passing through or visiting the Summerset region.

Sep 23, 2024 · Norleen overmanOwners are great people. Not too many sites so not overcrowded. They do not raise rates for Sturgis Ralley. Best rates around. Clean showers and laundry room. Love the farm atmosphere. Peace and quiet...
Aug 17, 2023 · Brian CarrCame to visit family again and stayed here. It was during a very rainy week and the camp ground owners were taxed with a bit of a challenge to keep the restrooms clean and the mud at bay. It is in South Dakota and it had rained more than 5 inches in 2 days and at least this campground did not have flooding water like the one a couple miles down the road did. This campground still has grass and hasn't covered everything up with asphalt and pavement. Ill take the mud over the flooding and power outage due to 'electrical issues' at the other place. Great family run campground. Great prices, honest hard working people. As for the review for the trucks loads of gravel, the other person left. The gravel was there in piles, but when the owner came around to ask if we wanted him to spread it out or wait for the rain to stop, we opted to wait (as the tractor would ultimately cause ruts for his field as well, and forecast was for 2 days of heavy rain and then clear skies). It was a win win, and then he spread the 45 tons of gravel for us, and it packed nicely. GREAT place.
May 22, 2023 · Brooke BeckhamCame up planning on staying here for a month, but just driving down the road to the RV area was treacherous! It was so soft and muddy that my husband lost traction a few times. Once we made it into the camping area, there were plenty of open spaces, but they were all very muddy. The vehicles and campers that were there, were covered in mud, and deep ruts where they had gotten into the spaces. $750 per month for camping in a giant mud pit? No thanks! Owners might want to seriously consider several truck loads of gravel.
