Pelican RV Park New Orleans Introduce
Are you a local resident of the vibrant New Orleans metropolitan area seeking a conveniently located RV park for temporary accommodation, work-related stays, or perhaps a base while exploring the city? Pelican RV Park New Orleans, situated at 3716 Downman Rd, New Orleans, LA 70126, presents itself as an option within the category of 'RV parks near me'. This introduction aims to provide a detailed, objective overview of the park based on publicly available information, particularly the experiences shared by previous visitors online.
Pelican RV Park New Orleans can be contacted directly at (504) 708-5359 or via mobile phone at +1 504-708-5359. Its location on Downman Road places it within New Orleans, offering accessibility to various parts of the city and surrounding areas. However, it's crucial for local users to consider the immediate environment based on the feedback provided by those who have stayed there.
Several reviews paint a picture that warrants careful consideration. One guest described an environment with "lots of excitement listening to the burnouts and automatic gunfire," and noted a "different" caliber of individuals outside a nearby establishment. While this reviewer stated they never truly felt their life was in danger and the location suited their work-related needs for over a month, they explicitly mentioned they "wouldn't bring my family here for a vacation." This suggests the environment may not be conducive to a relaxing family getaway for local residents seeking a weekend escape.
Another, significantly more critical review strongly advises against staying at Pelican RV Park New Orleans, labeling it a "very bad part of town." This guest reported experiencing a "loud street party going all night next door," along with "motorcycle burnouts til the am." The reviewer also detailed issues with the park's facilities, mentioning "trash and metal debris everywhere," and only "one shower and bathroom" lacking basic necessities such as hand soap, toilet paper, and paper towels. The cleanliness of the shower was described as "disgusting," and a request for replenishment of supplies was allegedly ignored. Furthermore, this guest reported being woken by a "weed whacker going outside our window at 7am" and decided to leave after only one night of a booked three-night stay.
Safety concerns were also raised, with the reviewer stating that Uber drivers were "very hesitant to pick up" from the location. They recounted an incident of being "threatened by party goers" while waiting for a ride. Attempts to address these issues with the management were reportedly unsuccessful, with one instance of being hung up on. The presence of a homeless individual living behind the bathroom who becomes upset when it's occupied further contributed to the negative experience. The reviewer also noted the park's surroundings, describing it as "surrounded by freeways and storage containers and enclosed by a gate," leading to a feeling of unsafety.
Considering these firsthand accounts, local users searching for 'RV parks near me' should be aware that Pelican RV Park New Orleans appears to present significant environmental and amenity-related challenges. While the location might offer basic accommodation for certain needs, the reported noise levels, safety concerns, and lack of adequate facilities, including cleanliness and essential supplies, are critical factors to weigh.
Features and services typically expected at an RV park might include hookups for water, electricity, and sewage, as well as restroom and shower facilities. However, the provided reviews indicate severe shortcomings in the latter, with limited availability and poor maintenance. It is unclear from the available information whether standard RV hookups are reliably provided and in good working order.
Promotional information is not explicitly available in the provided text. However, the very negative experiences shared by multiple guests serve as a strong caution against assuming a positive experience without further investigation or perhaps recent improvements that are not reflected in these reviews.
For local residents seeking RV parks for various purposes, it would be prudent to thoroughly research other options in the New Orleans area. Platforms categorized as 'RV parks near me' likely list alternative locations with potentially better-maintained facilities, safer environments, and more positive guest experiences. It is recommended to look for parks with more recent and consistently positive reviews, paying attention to comments regarding cleanliness, safety, amenities, and overall atmosphere.
Pelican RV Park New Orleans's location might be convenient for certain individuals or specific needs. For instance, the first reviewer mentioned it suited their work requirements. However, the stark contrast in experiences, particularly the serious safety and facility concerns raised in the second review, cannot be ignored. Local users should carefully consider their priorities and tolerance for potential disruptions and discomfort before choosing this RV park.
In conclusion, while Pelican RV Park New Orleans exists as an option within the 'RV parks near me' category, the available customer reviews paint a concerning picture regarding its environment, safety, and the quality of its facilities. Local individuals seeking RV accommodation in New Orleans are strongly advised to weigh these negative experiences heavily and explore alternative RV parks that may offer a more comfortable, safe, and well-maintained environment for their stay.

Pelican RV Park New Orleans Reviews
Pretty much the same experience as everyone else. Lots of excitement listening to the burnouts and automatic gunfire. The caliber of women outside the daiquiri chef parking lot was.. different. Never really felt like my life was in danger though. Wouldn't bring my family here for a vacation but it suited us fine for what we were there for. Work. Others in the group were pretty scared though and deemed the accommodations as unsatisfactory; demanding that we leave. But we stayed over a month. The Folger's plant was pretty cool. After my stay I stopped drinking Folger's Coffee all together. Would make for a great story if you do end up staying in Eastghanistan.
Nov 13, 2024 · Ryan BleichWarning! Do not stay here! Very bad part of town. Loud street party going all night next door. Motorcycle burnouts til the am. Trash and metal debris everywhere. Only one shower and bathroom. No hand soap, toilet paper or paper towels. Shower disgusting. When asked mgr said he would replenish but 24 hrs later, nothing. Weed whacker going outside our window at 7am. Booked 3 nights and leaving after 1. Horrible day and night. Uber drivers very hesitant to pick up. We waited at corner for Uber and were threatened by party goers. Tried to address this with Greg/Craig and he hung up on us. There’s a homeless person living behind the bathroom and gets very upset if the bathroom is busy and she needs to use it. We’re surrounded by freeways and storage containers and enclosed by a gate. We do not feel safe at all! This is only some of the bad stuff. I could go on but this reviews long enough. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO STAY HERE EVEN ONE NIGHT!
May 09, 2022 · Margeaux StarrGreg is great, the park is close to everything we wanted to see in New Orleans and was a convenient central hub. The price is right and we have no complaints. Yeah it was a bit noisy at night but Greg told us long before we decided to stay that it might be and he put us away from it as much as he could. You have to eat at Smiley's Grill just outside the gate. Tasty food, nice staff.
Mar 13, 2018 · Simple Meets AdventureThis was our second stay here and enjoyed the convenient location. The staff was friendly and helpful. Each day the staff was busy working on their property keeping everything clean and functional. We really enjoyed having the Landing restaurant on site providing very good New Orleans dishes. We'll be back...
Jul 25, 2021 · Alex Barthe'Owner/grounds people very nice and helpful. Spaces are large and easy to park larger rigs in. However, it was VERY noisy! Extremely loud music plays next door non stop from noon till about 11pm. It’s very close to the highway as well.
