Silver Lake RV & MH Estates Introduce
For local residents in the Angola, Indiana area looking for "rv parks near me," Silver Lake RV & MH Estates, located at 4305 US-20, Angola, IN 46703, USA, presents a camping and potential long-term living option. The park can be contacted at (260) 665-3783 or +1 260-665-3783.
Based on recent customer feedback, Silver Lake RV & MH Estates offers a unique experience where individuals can both camp and reside. One reviewer shared their positive transition from camping at the park to living there year-round while still enjoying camping during the warmer months. This suggests a welcoming environment for both short-term and potentially longer-term RV stays. A significant highlight mentioned by this reviewer is the opportunity to observe deer and other wildlife directly from their window throughout the year, indicating a natural and potentially scenic environment within the park.
To provide a more comprehensive understanding for local users, it's valuable to consider historical perspectives alongside recent experiences. A detailed review from someone with ties to the park in the 1960s paints a picture of a meticulously maintained community known as Silver Lake Park. During that era, the park was described as beautiful, with all mobile homes featuring skirting, consistently cut lawns, and an overall immaculate condition. The owners at the time reportedly took great pride in the park's upkeep, ensuring it was always clean and safe. Amenities included a nice, clean beach and a raft with a diving board in the deeper part of the lake. The roads were well-maintained, with prompt repairs of any potholes.
The historical account also details the park's structure, which comprised three distinct sections: one for full-time residents, one for summer and weekend residents, and an area specifically reserved for weekend campers. Notably, no trailers or campers were permitted in the beach area. The park was portrayed as a family-friendly destination catering to various age groups, from children enjoying nature to retired couples residing there year-round.
However, the historical review also notes a significant decline in the park's condition over the past decade, expressing disappointment at its current state compared to its former glory. The reviewer did observe some recent efforts towards cleanup during a drive-by, suggesting a potential move towards improvement, although with a degree of skepticism about a full return to its previous standards. The inclusion of a mid-1960s aerial postcard and a photo of the beach area with a diving board provides a visual reference to the park's past appearance.
Considering these contrasting perspectives, local users searching for "rv parks near me" should be aware of both the positive recent experiences, particularly regarding wildlife and the possibility of longer-term stays, and the historical context indicating a past reputation for exceptional cleanliness and maintenance, followed by a period of decline. The recent observation of cleanup efforts offers a glimmer of potential future improvement.
Given the information, specific details about the current environment, services, and features are somewhat limited. The recent positive review suggests a natural setting with wildlife, while the historical account points to a lakefront location with a beach. Local users should inquire about the current state of the lake access and any recreational facilities that may still be available. Information regarding the layout of RV sites, the presence of shade, and the overall aesthetics would also be beneficial.
Similarly, details about the services currently offered are not fully clear. Based on typical RV park offerings, local users might expect amenities such as water, electric, and sewer hookups at some or all sites, as well as potential access to restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, and Wi-Fi. It would be important to confirm the availability and functionality of these services with the park management.
Features that might appeal to local RV users could include the lake access (if still available and well-maintained), the reported wildlife viewing opportunities, and the potential for a community with both short-term and long-term residents, as suggested by the recent review. The historical mention of distinct camping areas might also still be relevant. Inquiring about specific features like pull-through sites, pet policies, or on-site management would be advisable.
Promotional information is not provided in the available reviews. Local users interested in potential discounts for extended stays, seasonal rates, or any other special offers should contact Silver Lake RV & MH Estates directly. It's also worth asking about their pricing structure and any requirements for reservations or deposits.
In conclusion, Silver Lake RV & MH Estates in Angola, Indiana, presents a mixed picture for local users seeking "rv parks near me." A recent positive experience highlights the natural environment and the possibility of both short-term camping and long-term living. However, a detailed historical account indicates a significant decline from a once immaculate park, although recent cleanup efforts suggest potential improvements. Local RV users are encouraged to contact the park directly to ascertain the current environment, available services, features, and any promotional offers to determine if it meets their needs and expectations. Visiting the park in person might also provide a clearer understanding of its present condition and suitability for a camping stay.

Silver Lake RV & MH Estates Reviews
Last year I camped here. Now I live here & still camp here in the camping months. It's the best of both worlds ❤️ I watch deer & other wild life all year right out my window.
Jan 16, 2025 · Lisa BrownYou all should have seen Silver Lake Park back in the '60's when we had a cottage (mobile home) permanently parked there. It was a beautiful place - All trailers had skirting, all lawns were cut, the entire park was immaculate. I worked for the owners back then as a Summer job in '67 and '68, cutting grass and picking up EVERY scrap of paper. It was never fancy, but always clean and safe. The beach was nice and clean, and the owners had a raft with a diving board in the deeper water off the beach. The roads were always in good shape, and if a pothole developed, the owners repaired it immediately before it swallowed vehicles.. There were basically 3 sections in the park. One area had full-time residents, one area had Summer and weekend residents, and one area was reserved for weekend campers. There were NO trailers or campers of any kind allowed down by the beach. This was a perfect place for all ages. I was a kid at the time doing lots of frog and turtle hunting and fishing. There were also many retired couples there year-round. I've driven through the park a few times in the last 10 years, and cannot believe the condition it has fallen in to. There seems to be evidence of an attempt to clean it up, based on a quick drive-by a few days ago, but it will never be how it used to be. I'm including a mid-'60's aerial postcard of the park. One more thing that I forgot to mention: ALL mobile homes had to be skirted - no exceptions. I added another shot, showing the beach area with it's yellow diving board raft. Note there are no trailers or campers or vehicles in the beach area. All the docks were towards the left in the photo. There have been several owners since about 1972, all promising to clean the place up. Let's hope this time they mean it.
Aug 08, 2021 · Tom BenderI ALSO spent Summers and weekends up on the hill and have a lot of fond memories. Tom Bender and his brother Gary were good friends of mine then.I also saved a man from drowning there once.
Jun 29, 2024 · RicNice view of the lake, lots of big shade trees, nice wide lanes but there's trash everywhere and the water smells bad of sulfer
Aug 04, 2019 · Melody YoderI had never heard of Silver Lake before this weekend and I am hooked! This is a beautiful, no-wake lake that is perfect for that easy pontoon ride or, better yet, kayak trip. Beautiful sand beach with roped off area for the kids. We were visiting relatives, but this looks like a wonderful place to live too.
