Southwood Village Introduce
If you're looking for "RV parks near me" in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area, Southwood Village, located at 440 60th St SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49548, is one option to consider. You can contact them at (616) 455-9660 or +1 616-455-9660 for inquiries. Understanding the environment, services, and features of any potential long-term living or visiting location is crucial, and online reviews can offer a glimpse into the experiences of others.
According to some residents, Southwood Village offers a generally calm and relaxed atmosphere. One reviewer described it as a "quiet and spacious complex" and highlighted the availability of a "nice size party room" that residents can reserve. This suggests that the park may offer some communal amenities for gatherings and events, which can be a valuable feature for those seeking a sense of community within an "RV park near me."
However, other reviews present a more nuanced and, at times, critical perspective. One individual whose mother-in-law resides in Southwood Village stated that "it isn't the worst. But it isn't the best either," indicating a somewhat average experience. This suggests that while there may not be significant issues, the park might not offer exceptional features or services that would elevate it above other options when searching for "RV parks near me."
A recurring concern raised by a reviewer over an extended period involves a significant drainage issue at the intersection near the mailboxes at the entrance. This reviewer describes a "huge 'lake' that forms when it rains hard and a lot," and notes that this problem has persisted for many years. The ongoing nature of this issue, even after the park's initial response acknowledging it, as indicated by subsequent updates stating the "lake" is still present and "worse than ever," could be a significant environmental drawback for residents and visitors alike. Poor drainage can lead to inconvenience, potential property damage, and aesthetic concerns within the park.
Another environmental factor mentioned is the issue of some neighbors "driving in and out blasting music at all hours," which can disrupt the peace and quiet that many seek in an "RV park near me." While one update noted a temporary improvement in noise levels, the initial mention suggests that this has been an occasional problem affecting the tranquility of the community.
One particularly concerning review details negative experiences with the office staff, describing the "worst customer service" received over the past year. The reviewer alleges a lack of follow-through on promises, specifically regarding communication about accepting payment assistance, which reportedly led to an eviction attempt. This paints a picture of significant issues with the park's administrative processes and communication with residents. Such experiences can be particularly distressing for individuals seeking a stable and supportive living environment in an "RV park near me" or mobile home park.
Despite these criticisms, one reviewer initially increased their rating after the park responded to their concerns and after experiencing a period of nice weather with quiet surroundings. This suggests that there may be positive aspects to living in Southwood Village, particularly during favorable weather conditions when noise levels are low. The spaciousness of the complex, as mentioned in another review, could also be an attractive feature for those looking for "RV parks near me" with ample room.
However, the subsequent updates from the same reviewer indicating the continued and worsening drainage problem and the negative interaction with the office staff ultimately led to a retraction of the positive rating. This highlights the importance of addressing fundamental infrastructure issues and ensuring professional and empathetic customer service in maintaining resident satisfaction within a mobile home or RV park.
When considering Southwood Village as one of your options for "RV parks near me," it is essential to weigh the positive comments about the spaciousness and potential for a quiet environment against the more serious concerns raised about persistent drainage problems, occasional noise disturbances, and negative experiences with the office staff. The availability of a party room is a potential amenity, but its value may be diminished if other aspects of the living environment or management are not satisfactory.
Prospective residents or visitors should consider visiting Southwood Village to assess the conditions firsthand, particularly after a period of significant rainfall to observe the drainage situation. If possible, speaking with current residents could provide further insights into the day-to-day living experience and the responsiveness of the management to resident concerns. Understanding the park's policies on noise and maintenance is also crucial.
In conclusion, Southwood Village in Grand Rapids, MI, offers a spacious environment and a party room for residents. While some have found it to be a calm and relaxed place to live, recurring issues with significant water accumulation during rain, occasional noise from vehicles, and concerning reports about customer service from the office staff should be carefully considered by anyone searching for "RV parks near me" in the area. The mixed reviews suggest that while some aspects of the park may be satisfactory, potential residents should conduct thorough due diligence to ensure it meets their needs and expectations for long-term living or visiting.

Southwood Village Reviews
Calm cool relaxed place to live or visit. It's a quiet and spacious complex with a nice size party room to reserve.
Mar 30, 2025 · Earl The Third at EA Productions LLCMy mother in law lives here. It isn't the worst. But it isn't the best either. There is a huge "lake" that forms when it rains hard and a lot, that fills the intersection near the mailboxes that are near the entrance. It has been this way for many years. There are a couple of neighbors who drive in and out blasting music at all hours.Overall, I guess I would say, it isn't horrible.***03/17/23 I saw a response in my notifications from Southwood Village but I can't find it in the post itself.I will definitely update this post after I see how the "lake" (or lack thereof lol 😊) looks the next time it rains. My mother in law doesn't want to complain about the cars music at this point. She said she doesn't want to start issues with her neighbors.Thank you Southwood Village for responding so quickly and for caring about your residents!***04/15/23 The "lake" is in fact still there. I happened to be there when it rained very hard recently. But I honestly don't know what you can do, if anything, about it. Mom is planning to move in the next few months anyway.I will say, that the weather has been nice the last few days and mom and her husband have been outside a lot. She has said it has been nice and quiet! Beautiful!!! No loud cars and no loud music. It has been wonderful she said!So I upped the rating from three stars to four. Well done!2-8-24The lakes are still in fact there and worse than ever. You should be honest about things if you are having a hard time fixing them. Instead of lying.Worst customer service I have ever had with your office staff as well this past year. Thanks for not calling back like you promised to let us know if you would accept the payment from DHS to get us caught up. You just sent the team to evict us instead. If your office staff is too scared to talk to people, and they are flat out lying to people about fixing the giant lakes that occur every single time it rains hard, maybe you should get new staff.Your whole operation is a joke.
Feb 08, 2024 · Corrin RodriguezTrashy place. Horrible people. Crime is horrendous. Even worse management. They drive up rent frequently. Vandalism, car theft, general theft, crime crime crime. Do not buy or rent here. Avoid at all costs. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
Oct 26, 2023 · Tara MPathetic management. Sent in an application and was told I’d hear back within 1 day. Called in to office the following day and no update. It has been over 2 weeks and have not heard back since and I have called every few days since then with no answer. The office is even closed during their regular scheduled business hours on two occasions I’ve tried to go in person. And based off these other reviews, I can confirm it’s not the place I want to move to. Trashy community with a pathetic joke of a management team. Don’t even consider going here.
Oct 29, 2024 · David IpinaWhen we first moved into the park in 2015, management was friendly and approachable. The manager in the office and the grounds-keeper were a married couple who were laid back and reasonable. We never had any problems. Some items promised in the home sale, such as garbage disposal and dishwasher, were not provided. However, we did not make any fuss as we're pretty "green" as is, and prefer hand-washing anyway.Since summer/autumn 2016, when that couple was promptly dismissed, harassment from maintenance has become unacceptable. We once received a notice that our grass needed cutting THE DAY AFTER OUR MOWING SERVICE HAD CUT IT. Nearly everyone else on our street received the same notice a few weeks after management transitioned, despite everyone's lawn looking fine and it being October, a time when grass rarely grows fast. When approached, the office simply told us we'd need to pay the $35 mowing fee. No alternatives were offered, no agreement could be reached.Since then, we have received weekly harassment from maintenance man "Al", who constantly posts notices on the door about moving porch furniture off of the covered, carpeted porch. There is no space for complaining about porch furniture on the form, as this is not prohibited by the lease, so he checks the "no outdoor storage - tires, debris, etc" area. We do not store tires or debris. We have outdoor furniture on our covered porch, as this is a safe area for it year round being COVERED and all. There's no where else for this to be stored, and certainly no way we'd pay additional monies to rent a storage unit to store items we want on our porch. In addition, even though we've been at home each and every single time notices have been delivered, the man has never taken the trouble to actually knock on the door and discuss the problem. Instead, he tucks notes in the door. Although we've addressed this with the office, and were given permission for the furniture, the harassment continues. It's such a shame to see how poorly this place is being run, as it's full of nice people and could really be a pleasant place to live if the rules were upheld properly and not so whimsical and Byzantine. Unfortunately, we have decided to move out due to the poor management and continued harassment.
