Sun Resorts & Residences Sanibel Gateway Introduce
For those searching for 'RV parks near me' in the Fort Myers, Florida area, Sun Resorts & Residences Sanibel Gateway, located at 19333 Summerlin Rd, Fort Myers, FL 33908, and reachable by phone at (239) 466-8988 or mobile at +1 239-466-8988, presents a complex picture based on recent customer feedback. While one review praises the property and staff, another expresses significant concerns regarding the pace of recovery and infrastructure repairs following what appears to be substantial damage.
One resident expresses considerable dissatisfaction with the current state of Sun Resorts & Residences Sanibel Gateway. They voice disbelief at being charged rent despite the park still being a "disaster." This strong statement suggests that the damage sustained by the property is extensive and significantly impacting the living conditions. The reviewer claims that the "infrastructure was not repaired right," leading to ongoing issues. Specifically, they mention that after homes were removed, the "empty lots have not been graded right," resulting in flooding during rain. This indicates potential safety and livability concerns for residents.
The pace of rebuilding is also a major point of contention, with the reviewer stating that the park has moved at a "snails pace" to repair buildings. Furthermore, key amenities such as the "pools still aren’t open," which can be a significant draw for residents, especially in Florida. The reviewer describes meetings with corporate management as "nothing but a joke," alleging a disconnect between promises of improved communication and actual progress. They claim that assurances regarding fixes and operational timelines have not materialized.
Adding to the frustration, the reviewer suggests a lack of coordination within the management, stating, "The right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing." They also point out an apparent disparity in the permitting process, noting that while residents had to "pull permits to fix our places," the park management has not done so in a timely manner, hindering overall progress. The reviewer contrasts the situation at Sun Resorts & Residences Sanibel Gateway with other nearby parks ("Siesta Bay, Indian creek, and the groves") that are reportedly "up and running fully," urging the management to fulfill their responsibilities to the residents who have done their part.
In stark contrast, another reviewer describes the property as "Beautiful!" and praises the "Helpful, friendly and hard working staff!" This individual states that they are "happy to call Siesta Bay our home for now!" and offers a "Highly recommend!" This review presents a very different perspective, focusing on the aesthetic appeal of the property and the positive attributes of the staff.
Considering the platform category 'RV parks near me,' Sun Resorts & Residences Sanibel Gateway presents a mixed picture for potential long-term RV residents or those interested in mobile home living. While the property may possess inherent beauty and the staff is described as friendly and helpful by one reviewer, the serious concerns raised by another regarding infrastructure, the pace of rebuilding, and management communication cannot be ignored. Prospective residents would need to weigh these contrasting perspectives carefully.
The environment of Sun Resorts & Residences Sanibel Gateway is described as "Beautiful property!" by one reviewer, suggesting an aesthetically pleasing setting. However, the other review paints a picture of a community struggling with the aftermath of damage, including improperly graded lots leading to flooding and a slow pace of building repairs. The discrepancy in these descriptions highlights the potential for significant variation in the living experience depending on location within the park and the extent of the damage in specific areas.
Information regarding specific services and amenities that are currently fully operational is limited and conflicting. Based on typical RV resorts and mobile home parks, Sun Resorts & Residences Sanibel Gateway likely offered or intends to offer:
- RV sites with hookups (water, electricity, sewer).
- Mobile home sites for rent or ownership.
- Laundry facilities.
- Restroom and shower facilities.
- Potentially a clubhouse or meeting areas.
- Recreational amenities such as pools (currently not open according to one review).
- On-site management and maintenance.
- Security services.
However, the negative review indicates that the functionality of key infrastructure and amenities is currently compromised due to the slow pace of repairs. The status of services like laundry, restrooms, and other common areas is not explicitly mentioned but could also be affected.
The features of Sun Resorts & Residences Sanibel Gateway are somewhat contradictory based on the provided reviews. The potential for a "Beautiful property!" and "Helpful, friendly and hard working staff!" are positive aspects. However, the significant concerns about the slow pace of rebuilding, unresolved infrastructure issues leading to flooding, and perceived lack of effective communication from corporate management are serious drawbacks. The fact that other nearby parks are reportedly fully operational further emphasizes the challenges faced by this community.
Promotional information is not explicitly present in the reviews. The positive review, while complimentary of the staff and the beauty of the property, does not offer any specific promotions. The negative review, understandably, does not highlight any positive promotional aspects and instead serves as a cautionary account. Potential residents would need to contact the management directly to inquire about the current status of the resort, any ongoing promotions or discounts related to the rebuilding phase, and the expected timeline for the restoration of amenities and infrastructure.
In conclusion, Sun Resorts & Residences Sanibel Gateway in Fort Myers, FL, presents a complex situation for those searching for 'RV parks near me' or considering mobile home living. While one reviewer describes a beautiful property with friendly staff and recommends it, another resident expresses significant dissatisfaction with the slow pace of rebuilding, unresolved infrastructure issues like flooding, and a perceived lack of effective communication from management. Prospective residents should carefully consider both perspectives and conduct thorough due diligence, including directly contacting the management for detailed information about the current status of the resort, the timeline for repairs and reopening of amenities, and any available accommodations or long-term stay options. Visiting the property in person, if possible, may also provide valuable insights into the current environment and ongoing efforts.

Sun Resorts & Residences Sanibel Gateway Reviews
I can’t believe that we are being charged rent. The park is still a disaster. The infrastructure was not repaired right. After they tore out the homes the empty lots have not been graded right. This has made it so when rains it floods. The park has moved at a snails pace to repair the buildings. The pools still aren’t open. The meeting s that we have had with corporate, have been nothing but a joke. They say they will communicate better with residents, that this will happen and that will be fixed and running, as of today it still the same. The right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing. We all had to pull permits to fix our places., they haven’t pulled theirs in a timely fashion at all. Therefore nothing is getting done. Most parks around us are up and running fully. Come on siesta bay, Indian creek, and the groves. Stop lying to your residents who did their part to make the place great again, and start doing yours!

Jan 31, 2025 · Greg SmithPlace was very nice and clean! The only problem I had, was that we checked in at 3p.m. Saturday and the office closed at 2p.m. and did not open again till Monday. We found a welcome packet on the front office door. We did not receive a key at this time. So for the first 2 days we were unable to use the bathrooms, showers, library, work out room, and pool table game room.I was told that I should've called the "emergency " number and they would've brought me a key. I think a sign that says "after hours" number would be better. But that's just my opinion. The place was very close to the beaches and the staff was very friendly when I was able to check in on Monday morning when they reopened the office. I would come back again and now I know how to get a key after hours.
Jun 23, 2019 · CHEFTIMPThis is a great 55 an over community. The pool is kept warm and sparkling clean. And the activities are top notch with pickler ball, tennis, shuffle board, and driving range net to name a few. They even host events such as pig roasts, dances and bingo. It keeps the community alive and well.
