Sun Retreats Fort Myers Beach Introduce
Are you searching for "RV parks near me" in the Fort Myers, Florida area, seeking a community-oriented environment with reasonable rates? Sun Retreats Fort Myers Beach, located at 16175 John Morris Rd, Fort Myers, FL 33908, USA, presents an interesting option. While recent customer feedback includes a significant negative experience with management, other aspects highlight a park with a friendly atmosphere (in general), a mix of long-term and short-term residents, and ongoing updates. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of Sun Retreats Fort Myers Beach based on the available reviews, combining both positive and negative feedback to give a comprehensive picture for local users considering a stay.
One recurring theme in the customer reviews is the presence of a strong sense of community, particularly among the long-term and full-time residents. One reviewer, who had stayed at multiple Sun Retreats locations previously, initially praised the "friendly environment and welcoming staff," which had led their family to consider purchasing a vacation home at this Fort Myers location. This suggests that, under normal circumstances and with interactions with general staff, the park fosters a positive and welcoming atmosphere. For local users seeking "RV parks near me" with a community feel, the presence of many long-term residents can often contribute to a more stable and neighborly environment.
Another reviewer described Sun Retreats Fort Myers Beach as a "nice older park with some post hurricane updates." This indicates that the park is established and has likely weathered recent storms, with efforts made to renovate and improve the facilities afterward. For RV owners concerned about the condition and resilience of "RV parks near me," the fact that this park has undergone post-hurricane updates could be reassuring. These updates might include improvements to infrastructure, common areas, or individual sites.
The park offers a mix of accommodation types, with the "south half of the park primarily RVs" and the "north side of the park closer to a 50/50 split between RV sites and permanent trailers/park models." This variety suggests that the park caters to both transient RV travelers and those seeking a more permanent or semi-permanent living arrangement. For local users searching for "RV parks near me" for different durations, this flexibility could be advantageous.
A significant positive aspect mentioned by one reviewer is the "very reasonable short-term stay rates." For budget-conscious travelers or those planning a shorter visit to the Fort Myers Beach area, the affordability of Sun Retreats Fort Myers Beach could be a major draw when comparing "RV parks near me." This suggests that the park offers a good value proposition for those not requiring luxury amenities and prioritizing cost-effectiveness.
However, it is crucial to address the serious concerns raised in one detailed review regarding an interaction with the on-site manager, Felisha. This reviewer recounted a troubling and unprofessional encounter that ultimately led to their family being banned from all Sun Retreats properties. The incident involved a dispute over a store-bought log burning in a covered fire pit and subsequent communication issues regarding access to restrooms. The reviewer described the manager's demeanor as "visibly hostile" and "aggressive," and the decision to ban them as being made "without due explanation, without an opportunity for us to respond, and without any formal communication."
This negative experience stands in stark contrast to the reviewer's otherwise positive experiences at other Sun Retreats locations and highlights a potential issue with the management at the Fort Myers Beach park. While this appears to be an isolated incident reported in the available reviews, it is a significant piece of information that local users should be aware of when considering Sun Retreats Fort Myers Beach. It underscores the importance of clear communication and professional conduct from park management.
Despite this serious concern, the other review offers a more balanced perspective, describing the overall experience as "pleasant" but noting that it might not be a park for stays longer than a week or two. This suggests that while the park has its merits, it may lack some of the amenities or features that would appeal to those seeking extended stays. However, for short-term visitors, the reasonable rates and the generally pleasant atmosphere might still make it a viable option when searching for "RV parks near me."
Information regarding specific services and amenities at Sun Retreats Fort Myers Beach is somewhat limited in the provided reviews. However, based on the fact that it accommodates RVs, it is likely to offer standard RV hookups, including water, electricity, and sewer. The mention of restrooms and laundry facilities in the context of the negative review suggests that these basic amenities are available. Given the presence of long-term residents and park models, there might also be additional amenities such as communal areas or recreational facilities, although these are not explicitly detailed.
The environment of Sun Retreats Fort Myers Beach appears to be a mix of older infrastructure with some recent updates. The presence of both RV sites and more permanent structures indicates a diverse community. The park's location in Fort Myers suggests proximity to local attractions, although specific details about nearby amenities (beyond the reviewer's mention of their boat club) are not provided in these reviews.
Promotional information is largely absent from the provided text, which primarily consists of customer reviews. However, based on the positive aspects mentioned, Sun Retreats Fort Myers Beach could promote its reasonable short-term rates, the friendly environment among residents, and the ongoing post-hurricane updates. Highlighting the mix of RV sites and park models could also appeal to a broader range of potential guests, from short-term travelers to those considering a longer stay or even park model ownership.
Local users considering Sun Retreats Fort Myers Beach as one of their "RV parks near me" should weigh the positive feedback regarding the community feel and reasonable rates against the serious negative experience reported with the management. It would be prudent to contact the park directly at (239) 466-4300 or +1 239-466-4300 to inquire about current rates, amenities, park policies, and to get a sense of the current management approach. Seeking clarification on policies regarding things like campfires and ensuring clear communication with the management upon arrival might help mitigate potential issues.
In conclusion, Sun Retreats Fort Myers Beach offers a mixed picture based on the available reviews. While it appears to have a generally friendly community atmosphere, reasonable rates, and ongoing improvements, the significant negative experience with the on-site manager raises concerns that potential visitors should be aware of. Local users searching for "RV parks near me" in Fort Myers should consider these factors and conduct their own due diligence before making a decision.

Sun Retreats Fort Myers Beach Reviews
I am writing to formally express my deep concern and disappointment regarding an incident that occurred during my family's recent stay at your Fort Myers Beach location from Monday, April 28 to Friday, May 2.Over the past two months, my family and I have stayed at multiple Sun Retreats locations—including Jacksonville, Key Largo, and Fort Myers—each for several days. We've returned to Sun Retreats repeatedly due to the friendly environment and welcoming staff. In fact, we have been seriously considering purchasing a vacation home at the Fort Myers location due to its proximity to our boat club and the community of friends and family we have in the area.Unfortunately, this most recent stay was marred by a troubling and unprofessional encounter with the on-site manager, Felisha. On the night of Tuesday, April 29 at 9:09 PM, I called the number listed on the restroom door after we were unable to access the facilities. I left a voicemail and returned to our site. Approximately an hour later, a woman—later identified as Felisha—approached our site in a visibly hostile manner. She did not initially identify herself but was upset that we had a single store-bought log burning in our covered fire pit. The fire had been going for some time without issue, and once she expressed her concern, my husband and his cousin immediately extinguished it.When I asked for clarification on her role and how to access the facilities, Felisha mentioned an email and app we had never received. The email in question did not arrive until later that evening, long after the incident. Her demeanor was aggressive, and despite our efforts to be cooperative and respectful, the interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational. The following day, Wednesday, went smoothly without incident. On Thursday, my husband extended our stay in person at the office without any issue. I also visited the office to inquire about laundry supplies, again without any mention of a problem. That evening, however, Felisha called my husband to the office and informed him we were banned from all Sun Retreats properties. This came as a complete shock. She cited a “rude message” I allegedly left (which I believe can and should be reviewed) and claimed I failed to apologize the following morning—though I was never told there was an issue requiring one. Furthermore, our site was directly in front of the office, and I was present throughout the day without being approached. This decision was made without due explanation, without an opportunity for us to respond, and without any formal communication. Felisha's behavior was not only unprofessional but humiliating. It stands in stark contrast to the otherwise positive experiences we’ve had with Sun Retreats staff at other locations.I have documentation, including photos and video from the evening in question, and I would be happy to provide this for review. I also have contact information for witnesses who are willing to corroborate our experience. We value community, professionalism, and safety above all. We do not understand why we were treated this way.
May 04, 2025 · Tiffany AgueroStayed in an RV site. Nice older park with some post hurricane updates. Sites may not fit the biggest rigs. A lot of long time and full-time residents. Very reasonable short-term stay rates. South half of the park is primarily RVs, north side of the park is closer to a 50/50 split between RV sites and permanent trailers/park models. Overall a pleasant experience but not a park we will most likely stay in for more than a week or two.
Mar 29, 2025 · Scott SchibonskiI have been a 7/5 resident at the Sun Retreats Fort Myers Beach for over 15 years. This park is more than an rv park it’s a community. We have had six managers during my time. Mrs. Campbell the current manager is by far the best that we have had in my 15 years. She’s made a remarkable difference and improvement in her short time. The park looks great as it nears the completion of its renovation after hurricane Ian. I give it and Mrs. Campbell 5 stars.
Jan 14, 2025 · Teri GoodwinI’d say around 1/3 of this park are tiny homes/small double wides. The other 2/3 are RV lots. We stayed in our RV. This is a great community. Everyone is super friendly. Staff, home owners and guests. Super clean grounds. Quiet atmosphere. Very dog friendly. Excellent dog park and walking areas. People actually clean up after their pets here, unlike a lot of places we’ve camped. Highly recommend this campground to RVers and anyone looking for a nice retirement/snowbird home for a reasonable price in an excellent area.
Jan 21, 2025 · Brown Mike & JessicaWe try to always go to Sun Outdoors and are traveling for the next 12 months and unsure if we will seek out any further Sun Retreats. We were treated horribly by the management. Too much to type but the manager basically questioned my husband's moral compass by saying "we can pull the cameras to see what was said".. he said "please do so and let's look together" then she refused and 'dismissed him' from the office. He is such a kind soul and was trying to help the next person checking in to our site but they are sooo rude and nasty. We also got several calls asking us what site we were on, when we were checking out, and twice called to say we owed extra money and when we called back after hearing the messages they denied calling..No one knew anything...could have dealt with that but the nastiness was the worst. We are very quiet and very easy going and keep our site immaculate. We bother no one...but this was over the top in the rudeness category!! Take the warning and book elsewhere!
