Sun Retreats Lancaster County Reviews
Recently, my wife and I had an opportunity to visit the campground. We were kind of doing a reconnaissance to see if it is a place we would like to stay. The first person who made contact with us in the office was Kim Leslie. We had many questions And she was able to answer them all. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. Soon we will be staying at the campground and one of those reasons is because of Kim Leslie. They say it’s always good to make a great first impression. Well, she has impressed us greatly. Oh and yes, of course the campground is wonderful and we’re looking forward to staying there.
Apr 26, 2025 · Rick LynchNice family campground for a spring weekend away. The indoor pool drew us here, but we would love to return in the summer when the pool enclosure is opened up and you can use the splash park too. Had activities for the kids in a beautiful meeting hall. Nicely spaced and level sites, good restroom access, good views. The unexpected perk for the kids was the paved roads that were perfect for biking/scootering!
Apr 24, 2025 · Janel GleesonI loved it, we thought the place was terrific. we opted out of the golf cart and walk the whole property(next time we will get the golf cart, the place is huge) We had perfect weather and a perfect experience. We walked all the way by the horseshoe pits and found, what was labeled on the map, as a hiking trail. We went beyond the hiking trail and found an entrance to 14,000 acres of state game Lands. It was incredible out there, but it is a hunting ground. Be careful when you get out there. The campsites were vast and different. You get a basic tent site. Some of which back up to a stream. You can get RV sites. You can rent a teepee, a wagon, a caboose, and a pirate ship. Most rentals have bathrooms and showers in them. But for the ones that don't there are convenience stations throughout the whole property. One day for about an hour I just sat on a bench at a small baseball field and just listened to the wind blow. There are fire pits throughout the property. They have a nice indoor pool. They have a nice playground. They have an outdoor pool. They have mini golf. They have a lake. Fishing, baseball, horseshoes, basketball. The possibilities are endless. I really liked it.
Apr 30, 2025 · Joe CWe visited this campground for the first time last fall and loved it. We chose it because of the Halloween activities that were advertised, and we had a fantastic time. Our kids especially enjoyed all the fun events. The terrain is mountainous, so the driveways are mostly one-way, but that didn't bother us at all. There's a large lake in the middle of the campground, which adds to its charm and attractions.I can imagine this campground being fully booked all the time, and if you're planning to rent a golf cart, be sure to reserve it early!
Nov 20, 2024 · Arlene LardizabalI used to vacation here yearly 12 years ago when it was “Lake in Wood” and now I'm bringing my toddler to enjoy it. We enjoyed our time so so much. We found the workers to be nice and welcoming. The main playground is great, our kids enjoyed it. I love the clean slides, the soft rubber mulch, the little house for then to play in. But, the house door needs to be repaired, a child could get hurt on the splintered hole. The pool was clean, we went in Sept so we didn't get to enjoy the kiddie pool, we will have to come back in the summer. The laundry room & sitting area was nice and comfy. We stayed in a tent at site O15 and it was really close to site O14. Luckily, we booked both as we had family staying in the other, but if it had only been us, it would have been way to close to strangers. The bathroom near us was clean and often empty, which was nice. I would suggest adding hooks, shelves, or something to put clothes on. Our site location also had noise from the quarry & the race track nearby. It didn't bother us, but it is something to note. It scared us the first night until we knew what it was lol. Our site also had a few critter visitors, including a cat, a skunk, and a raccoon that went on their way when they saw us. Activities could definitely be better. And the rec room should be open at all times in case of rain, cold weather, or hot weather for people to hang out in. All in all, we enjoyed our trip and will be back again whenever we can.
