The Hohenwald Hideaway Introduce
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" in the Hohenwald, Tennessee area, The Hohenwald Hideaway, situated at 361 Swiss Colony Rd, Hohenwald, TN 38462, USA, presents a camping option that warrants careful consideration based on recent customer feedback. The reviews offer contrasting experiences, highlighting both positive aspects and significant concerns that potential visitors should be aware of when making their travel plans.
One reviewer describes The Hohenwald Hideaway as a "very nice little RV park," noting positive experiences with the utilities, stating there were "no issues." This is a fundamental aspect of any RV park, and reliable utilities (electricity, water, and sewer hookups) are essential for a comfortable stay. The same reviewer also praised the "clean showers and laundry room," indicating that these facilities were well-maintained, which is a significant amenity for travelers. Furthermore, they mentioned "friendly staff," suggesting a welcoming and helpful management presence that contributed to a positive experience and a "great place to relax." This initial positive review paints a picture of a well-functioning and pleasant small RV park.
However, a more detailed and critical review presents a starkly different perspective, raising several serious concerns about the environment, privacy, amenities, and management of The Hohenwald Hideaway. This reviewer begins by stating that the reality of the location is likely "nothing you’re expecting," elaborating that the camping experience is akin to "literally camping in someone’s back yard." This description suggests a lack of separation from a residential property and potentially a less secluded or natural setting than one might anticipate from a traditional RV park.
Privacy appears to be a significant issue, with the reviewer noting the presence of a man living in the house on the property, approximately 50 yards from the campground, with windows facing the camping area. Additionally, the presence of "multiple cameras" is mentioned, leading to a feeling of being observed and a lack of privacy for guests. The proximity to two subdivisions is also highlighted, with the reviewer stating that residents can "look right at you the whole time you are ‘camping’." These factors collectively suggest a potentially exposed and less private camping environment than some travelers might prefer.
The ambient noise levels are also a concern, with complaints about dogs barking throughout the night and loud echoes from passing cars. This could detract from the peacefulness and relaxation that many seek in a camping experience, potentially disrupting sleep and overall enjoyment of the outdoors.
The physical layout of the campsites is criticized, with the reviewer stating, "You can literally touch the camper next you as the lots are so close together." This lack of space between sites can lead to a feeling of being crowded and can impact privacy and the ability to comfortably set up and move around your campsite.
The bathhouse facilities also come under scrutiny. While a bathhouse is mentioned, the reviewer states that one side was locked, resulting in multiple people sharing a single shower and toilet. Furthermore, the bathhouse is described as being "80 plus degrees," making showering or using the toilet in such a "hot and moist environment" uncomfortable. When the reviewer requested that the owners lower the air conditioning in the bathhouse due to the discomfort and standing water, they allegedly "threatened to lock it." This suggests potential issues with the maintenance and management of the bathhouse facilities and a lack of responsiveness to guest comfort.
The overall impression conveyed by this negative review is that the owners may be perceived as unwilling to invest effort in maintaining the property and prioritizing guest comfort. The reviewer states, "I got the vibe they just don’t want to have to do anything, they don’t want to have to clean they just expect the guests do everything." This perception, if accurate, could significantly impact the guest experience.
Financial and customer service concerns are also raised, with the reviewer claiming that the owners "refuse to give you your money back when you arrive and see it’s false advertisement and nothing like the photos." This is a serious accusation, suggesting a potential discrepancy between the advertised experience and the reality of the campground. The reviewer concludes by advising others not to waste their money at The Hohenwald Hideaway, describing the owners as "not considerate of their guests," "extremely rude," and "always threatening."
A "side note" at the end of the negative review further escalates the concerns, alleging that after the review was posted, "the owner sent the sheriffs there and gave us a call to get out right away or we would be towed. LOL." If accurate, this action raises significant questions about the management's approach to guest feedback and conflict resolution.
Considering these contrasting reviews, it is challenging to provide a definitive objective introduction without acknowledging both perspectives. The positive review highlights basic functionality (utilities), cleanliness of some facilities, and friendly staff. However, the detailed negative review raises substantial concerns about privacy, noise, site spacing, bathhouse conditions and accessibility, potential misrepresentation, and alarming management behavior.
Given the significant discrepancies in the reported experiences, local users searching for "RV parks near me" who are considering The Hohenwald Hideaway should proceed with extreme caution. It would be prudent to seek additional, more recent reviews from multiple sources to gain a broader understanding of the current state of the campground. Directly contacting the owners with specific questions about site layout, privacy measures, bathhouse facilities, and their policies regarding refunds and guest feedback would also be a wise step before making a reservation.
Due to the serious nature of the allegations in the negative review, including potential false advertisement and concerning interactions with management, potential guests should be fully aware of these risks. While the positive review suggests a basic level of functionality and pleasant staff interaction, the negative account paints a picture of a potentially uncomfortable, unprivate, and poorly managed camping experience. Without further information or more balanced recent reviews, it is impossible to definitively assess the current environment, services, and features of The Hohenwald Hideaway. Local users are strongly advised to conduct thorough research and exercise caution before booking a stay at this RV park.
No promotional information is available in the provided reviews. Any potential discounts or special offers would need to be inquired about directly with the owners, keeping in mind the reported issues with customer service and communication.

The Hohenwald Hideaway Reviews
Very nice little RV park. No issues with utilities. Clean showers and laundry roomAnd friendly staff. Great place to relax
Mar 04, 2025 · Julian GordonThis place is really nothing you’re expecting. You are literally camping in someone’s back yard. There is a man that lives in the house on the property , 50 yards from the campground, with all of his windows aimed at the ground. There are multiple cameras, so don’t expect any privacy. There are two subdivisions on both sides and the residents can look right at you the whole time you are “camping”. You hear the dogs barking all night and Loud echos from all the cars passing. You can literally touch the camper next you as the lots are so close together. They have a bathhouse but they lock one side so you are sharing one shower and one toilet with multiple people and the bath house is 80 plus degrees. We had simply asked the owners to turn the A/C down in bathhouse as it’s soo uncomfortable to shower or use the toilet in such a hot and moist environment and they threatened to lock it due to standing water in there. I got the vibe they just don’t want to have to do anything, they don’t want to have to clean they just expect the guests do everything. They refuse to give you your money back when you arrive and see it’s false advertisement and nothing like the photos. Don’t waste your money here, they aren’t considerate of their guests, they are extremely rude and always threatening.Side note: after our review the owner sent the sheriffs there and gave us a call to get out right away or we would be towed. LOL
Aug 28, 2024 · Heather RogersGreat place to camp! The owner is a great guy with a heart of gold. I would recommend this place to anyone. I've stayed in many campgrounds and cameras and people living on the property is very common. The ones who disrespect a buisness are usually the ones worried about that kind of stuff so ignore the negative comments because this is a great place to stay and great place to bring your family!
Sep 21, 2024 · Jamie ColesOverall horrible experience. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT, it is NOT luxury. Don’t get fooled by the sideways pictures they post, you’re literally in his backyard. Any of the 5 star reviews are fake accounts the owner makes or has his friends do to boost his ratings. There were no other RVs except one besides ours for the last month.
