Tinsley's Old 66 Highway Introduce
Are you searching for "RV parks near me" in the Weatherford, Oklahoma area? Tinsley's Old 66 Highway, located at 2701 E Main St, Weatherford, OK 73096, USA, offers a convenient and budget-friendly option, especially for those traveling along the iconic Route 66. You can reach them at (580) 772-2902 or their mobile number +1 580-772-2902 to inquire about availability and specific amenities. Based on recent customer feedback, Tinsley's Old 66 Highway provides a no-frills, accessible stopover for travelers.
One of the standout features of Tinsley's Old 66 Highway is its prime location directly off the historic Route 66. This makes it an exceptionally convenient choice for those journeying along this famous American highway. As one reviewer noted, "This place is right off route 66," highlighting the ease of access for passing travelers. This accessibility is a significant advantage for those looking for a quick and easy overnight stop without venturing far from their route.
The owner's friendliness is another aspect frequently mentioned in the reviews. One guest described the owner as "super friendly," which can greatly enhance the overall experience, especially for weary travelers seeking a welcoming atmosphere. This personal touch can make a significant difference, providing a sense of security and assistance during your stay.
For those traveling in vans or smaller RVs requiring basic amenities, Tinsley's Old 66 Highway appears to offer essential services. One reviewer specifically mentioned paying "just for power to run our AC," indicating the availability of electrical hookups. This is crucial for maintaining comfort, especially during warmer months. The same reviewer also noted the ease of arrival, stating, "We pulled up plugged in and crashed out," suggesting a straightforward and hassle-free check-in process.
Privacy and a sense of security seem to be additional benefits of staying at Tinsley's Old 66 Highway. The reviewer who stayed in a van commented, "nobody bothered us it was pretty private" and "It's not sketchy, everyone there looked to be working travelers." This provides reassurance for those who value their peace and quiet and prefer a low-key environment. The observation that other guests appeared to be "working travelers" suggests a community of individuals who are likely respectful and mindful of their neighbors.
Affordability is another key aspect highlighted in the reviews. The van traveler mentioned, "it was only $25 so that was nice," indicating that Tinsley's Old 66 Highway offers a budget-friendly option compared to some other RV parks. This can be a significant factor for travelers mindful of their expenses, especially for short overnight stays.
However, it's important to consider all aspects of the feedback. Another reviewer noted that "Park is some what run down" and mentioned the presence of "fireants everywhere on my site." This suggests that while the park may offer essential amenities and a convenient location, it might lack some of the upkeep and pest control measures found in more modern or higher-end RV parks. Travelers who prioritize pristine conditions might find this aspect less appealing.
Despite the park's condition, the second reviewer also echoed the positive sentiment about the staff, stating, "The people were very nice." This reinforces the earlier feedback about the friendly and helpful nature of the park management. Additionally, this reviewer highlighted some practical amenities, noting, "Good news is they had 50 amp and pull throughs." The availability of 50-amp electrical service is essential for larger RVs with higher power demands, and pull-through sites offer the convenience of not having to back in, which can be particularly beneficial for larger rigs or tired drivers.
The same reviewer also observed that "the park seems to be folks who live there in older RVs." This suggests a community of longer-term residents, which can sometimes contribute to a more relaxed and less transient atmosphere. However, it's worth noting that some travelers prefer parks with a higher turnover of short-term guests.
In summary, Tinsley's Old 66 Highway appears to be a no-frills RV park that prioritizes affordability and convenience, particularly for those traveling along Route 66. The friendly owner and the availability of essential amenities like electrical hookups (including 50 amp) and pull-through sites are definite advantages. The park's somewhat run-down condition and potential pest issues (fireants) are factors to consider. The presence of longer-term residents might appeal to some while being less desirable for others.
For local users searching for "RV parks near me" in Weatherford, Oklahoma, Tinsley's Old 66 Highway offers a budget-friendly option with easy access from East Main Street and, crucially, historic Route 66. If you are looking for a simple overnight stop with friendly service and essential hookups, especially if you are just needing power or prefer the ease of a pull-through site, Tinsley's Old 66 Highway is worth considering. However, if you prioritize a more modern and well-maintained park with comprehensive amenities and strict pest control, you might want to explore other options in the area.
To get the most current information on rates, availability, and any ongoing promotions, it is always best to contact Tinsley's Old 66 Highway directly at (580) 772-2902 or +1 580-772-2902. This place is right off route 66 we are traveling in a van so just paid for power to run our AC. the guy who ownes the place was super friendly. We pulled up plugged in and crashed out, nobody bothered us it was pretty private. It's not sketchy, everyone there looked to be working travelers. We enjoyed our rest then moved on the next day, it was only $25 so that was nice.

Nov 01, 2023 · FRANK HOULEThis spot right on old route 66 slightly pulled us in and storms up ahead made us feel this was the safest spot for the night. We ended up pulling over here one evening on our road trip back to WI from the desert for a peaceful nights sleep with electricity/water hook ups and dump stations with easy pull through. $25 a night, not bad.. We were excited to have electricity to turn on our air for a night as we had been driving through hot temps all day. The gentleman who helped us check in was friendly and he made it very welcoming, he wasn't on sight when we called but he got there super fast when we said we were close by. I can see how it could get crowded (what RV park doesn't these days), but it was a quiet place to stop and get a good nights sleep with plenty of grass for the dogs to roam. The only downfall (which is huge for us dog lovers) was the poor dog tied up alone outside a trailer across from us for the whole time we stayed, even through the night. That is not cool in our book and that would not be happening with animals if we ran an rv park. You don't get to have animals and just leave them tied up outside for days alone. We left the poor dog food and water and booked out of there so our hearts didn't break even more listening to this poor pup cry for attention. You would think the people who run the place would care a little more too....And a heads up because we saw no warnings, Big rigs there is also a very tiny bridge you will have to fit your rig through if you go the directions google takes you off the highway, make sure you have clearance before attempting to fit through, otherwise you may have to take a small detour to get around. (Our 32' made it but it was tight). Nice, easy, friendly place to stop for a night though, minus the dog situation.
May 17, 2020 · Erin AndersonA nice, friendly place. Little to offer in amenities, but had good electricity, water, and sewer. Was kind of crowded, but we only needed one night and this fit the bill well for a very reasonable price. I would come here again. The gentleman who serviced us was welcoming and helpful.
Jul 15, 2018 · Bry JThis place is a normal camp ground, 5 star owners are the best. We were traveling to Arkansas but the wind wasn’t cooperating , so we called for a spot for the night. Sure come on in. Was so welcoming, and very very reasonable. Thank you.
