Valley River RV Resort Introduce
Are you a local RV enthusiast seeking a conveniently located base to explore the scenic wonders of Western North Carolina? Valley River RV Resort, situated near Marble, presents itself as an option within the 'RV parks near me' category. While online reviews offer varied perspectives, this introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the resort's environment, services, and features based on available customer feedback, allowing you to make an informed decision for your next RV adventure.
Location and Surrounding Environment
Located at 65 Old Tomotla Rd, Marble, NC 28905, USA, Valley River RV Resort benefits from its proximity to several towns in Western North Carolina (WNC), offering easy access to a variety of local attractions and amenities. Notably, the resort is conveniently located across the highway from a casino, which may be a significant draw for some visitors seeking entertainment options. The surrounding area offers opportunities to explore the natural beauty of the region, although some reviewers have noted that the immediate environment of the resort itself may not entirely align with the picturesque expectations set by promotional photos.
One reviewer described the "lake" on the property as a "mere pond" that is only moderately attractive on one end, and another mentioned a less appealing view towards the back of the campground where this pond is located. Additionally, some guests have experienced noticeable traffic noise, which they found detracted from a relaxing atmosphere. Therefore, while the resort serves as a gateway to the broader WNC region, the immediate on-site environment may have aspects that some visitors find less appealing.
Services and Amenities
Valley River RV Resort offers a range of amenities typically expected of a resort-style RV park. Based on customer reviews, the following services and features are available:
- Spacious Sites: According to one guest, the RV sites are fairly spacious, which can be a significant advantage for accommodating larger RVs and providing a comfortable living area. However, it's important to note that at least the middle row of sites reportedly lacks shade, which could be a consideration during warmer months.
- Swimming Pool: A "nice pool" is mentioned as a welcome amenity, particularly appreciated by visitors after engaging in outdoor activities like cycling. The pool appears to be a functional and enjoyable feature of the resort, although one review noted that the pool was advertised as open in the spring but did not have water in it shortly after the season began, indicating potential inconsistencies in amenity availability.
- Restrooms: Bathrooms are available near the pool, although one reviewer suggested they "could stand a good airing out" due to a slightly musty odor. This indicates that while facilities are present, their condition might be an area for improvement.
- Wi-Fi: The resort offers Wi-Fi access; however, one guest reported that it did not work with smart TVs, suggesting potential limitations in its capabilities. This discrepancy between advertised and actual functionality was a point of disappointment for that particular visitor.
- Friendly Staff: Positive feedback was received regarding the staff, who were described as "very friendly." One reviewer appreciated a proactive call to ascertain their arrival time and having paperwork ready upon check-in, highlighting good customer service.
While the resort offers several amenities, it's advisable for potential guests to inquire about the current operational status and specific limitations of these services, such as the pool's availability and the Wi-Fi's compatibility with different devices.
Features and Highlights
Beyond the standard RV park amenities, Valley River RV Resort has a few notable features:
- Proximity to Casino: The resort's location across the highway from a casino is a significant feature that may attract visitors interested in gaming and entertainment options. This proximity offers a convenient recreational activity just a short distance from the campground.
- Access to WNC Towns: Its location near several towns in Western North Carolina provides a good base for exploring the region. Guests can easily access the attractions, dining, and cultural experiences offered by these nearby towns.
- Scenic Lake (Pond): While opinions on its attractiveness vary, there is a small lake or pond on one side of the park, which some visitors may find visually appealing. However, it's important to manage expectations based on the contrasting descriptions provided in the reviews.
It's worth noting that the resort seems to cater to individuals who appreciate resort-style camping with certain amenities. Guests who prefer more natural, spacious sites with shade, such as state park campers, might find Valley River RV Resort less aligned with their preferences, as indicated by one of the reviews.
Promotional Considerations and Local Appeal
To attract local RV users, Valley River RV Resort could consider highlighting the following aspects, while also addressing areas identified as needing improvement in customer reviews:
- Convenient Location for Casino Enthusiasts: Emphasize the easy access to the nearby casino as a key entertainment option for those interested. Packages or partnerships with the casino could be explored.
- Central Hub for Exploring WNC: Promote the resort as a strategically located base for day trips to various towns and attractions in Western North Carolina. Highlight the ease of access to cultural sites, outdoor activities, and scenic drives.
- Pool Amenity: Market the pool as a refreshing feature, especially appealing during the warmer months after outdoor adventures. Ensure accurate and timely information regarding its opening and maintenance is provided.
- Spacious Sites (with caveats): While promoting the spaciousness of the sites, it would be prudent to acknowledge the lack of shade in certain areas and potentially offer solutions or information to mitigate this, such as suggesting specific site numbers with better shade if available.
- Friendly Staff and Service: Continue to emphasize the positive feedback regarding the friendly and helpful staff, as good customer service is a significant draw for many travelers.
- Address Wi-Fi Limitations: Clearly communicate the limitations of the Wi-Fi service, particularly its incompatibility with smart TVs, to avoid misleading potential guests. If upgrades are planned, these should be highlighted.
- Improve Restroom Ventilation: Addressing the musty odor in the restrooms near the pool would enhance the overall guest experience and should be a priority for maintenance.
- Manage Expectations Regarding the "Lake": Use accurate descriptions and potentially updated photos of the pond area to avoid the disappointment expressed by some reviewers who expected a more substantial or picturesque lake.
By focusing on its strengths, such as location and friendly staff, while transparently addressing areas for improvement highlighted in customer feedback, Valley River RV Resort can better cater to the needs and expectations of local RV users seeking a convenient base in the WNC region.

Valley River RV Resort Reviews
From the photos, you think you'll be staying in a really nice 'resort,' but au contraire! The 'lake' is a mere pond that is only moderately pretty on one end. The traffic noise is annoying and not relaxing. We had high hopes that this would live up to the pictures and description, but we were sadly disappointed. They have Wifi but come to find out it doesn't work with smart TVs, so that was yet another misleading advertisement. They also state on their site that the pool is open in the spring. We were up there shortly after the first day of spring and there wasn't even water in the pool. The view toward the back of the campground is hideous and that's where the pond is less than attractive as well. The only plus I could see in booking here is the proximity to the casino. Save your money and go to the KOA in Murphy... you won't be disappointed.
Mar 28, 2025 · DeborahSpent a long weekend here while in town for a cycling event. The resort is near several WNC towns, each with plenty to offer. Apparently, there is a casino across the highway. For a this type resort the sites are fairly spacious, but there is absolutely no shade for the middle row of sites. Scenic Little lake on one side of the park. Nice pool (very welcome after spending hours on a bicycle in the heat!!). The bathrooms near the pool could stand a good airing out as they are a tad musty.Very friendly staff - called to find out when they might expect us, and they had all the paperwork ready when we walked in the door. For those who like this type of resort you will enjoy this place. We are state park campers and prefer spacious sites with shade.
Aug 06, 2024 · Melissa RollossonLocation, Location, Location! Clean, kid friendly, and camp host is phenomenal! I saw the post the about the pool & workout room. The pool is big enough to swim in & you can also walk in it. We spent a lot of time at the pool and made a lot of memories with our family. The work out equipment is NOT all broken. Also, as far as this video, I distinctly remember this RV and they had a huge bird feeder out back of it. With any kind of sense, you’re attracting other critters. Also, it’s camping. You’re going to have animals. We are in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains. Believe it, or not, they have birds (with wings and feathers) that fly over. I hope you stop and enjoy this best kept secret. We will continue staying here and making memories in this campground.
Jul 12, 2024 · Taryn WoodWe stayed here in our camper. Everything was great. Met Robert and his wife, and Allen and Rita. I wish we had more time to have dinner or explore together. Very friendly people. The staff here was very nice. The grounds and bath house was very well maintained. The location is perfect to Murphy and GA. We have reservations in October to come back and have the same spot 48 locked in. We didn't like the water because it tasted different than our well water but there was nothing wrong with. Our hookups were perfect. Cable worked well. Water pressure was great. The WiFi was about 12mbs and worked well most of the time.
Jun 09, 2024 · Clay PowellThis was a great RV campground. The spaces are all concrete and Level. The bathrooms were very clean and had wonderful water pressure! The pool was beautiful and the grounds are well kept. Quick drive to Murphy for shopping and necessities. Worked out well for us
