Wagon Wheel RV Campground Introduce
If you're searching for "RV parks near me" with convenient access to the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park, Wagon Wheel RV Campground, located at 408 Gibbon Ave, West Yellowstone, MT 59758, USA, presents a solid option. Based on recent customer reviews, this campground offers a blend of practicality, friendly service, and a prime location for exploring the wonders of Yellowstone.
One of the key advantages of Wagon Wheel RV Campground is its location, described as being "on the doorstep of Yellowstone’s west gate." This proximity is a significant draw for tourists looking to maximize their time in the park without long commutes. While one reviewer noted that the pricing might be "too expensive for the what it is," they also conceded that it offers "actually good value compared to other options in this tourist town," suggesting that while not the cheapest, it is competitively priced within the local market.
The campground itself appears to offer a pleasant environment. One visitor who stayed at site #4 highlighted its convenient "back in from the road" layout, which allowed for easy pull-out access without navigating the entire campground. The reviewer also appreciated that the campground is "nice and shaded" and that their site offered "a decent amount of space to relax outside." The presence of shade is particularly valuable during the warmer months, providing a comfortable outdoor living area for campers.
While one reviewer mentioned using their own RV facilities and could not comment on the campground bathrooms, the overall impression of the grounds is positive. The emphasis on shaded sites and adequate space suggests a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience.
The staff at both the campground and the adjacent Wagonwheel Hotel consistently receive high praise for their friendliness and helpfulness. One reviewer specifically mentioned that the "Staff at the campground and hotel were friendly and helpful." This positive feedback extends to the hotel staff as well, where the same reviewer noted that their parents stayed and found their room "very nice" and enjoyed their stay. This suggests a consistent level of good service across the entire Wagon Wheel operation.
The positive experiences with the staff are further elaborated by another guest who stayed at the hotel. They described the staff as "very informative and polite," "very courteous," and proactive in ensuring guests had everything they needed. The staff also made efforts to be fair with pricing and apply all applicable discounts, which was appreciated by the reviewer. This dedication to customer service appears to be a significant strength of the Wagon Wheel.
The hotel portion of the Wagon Wheel also receives positive feedback regarding cleanliness and comfort. The reviewer noted that "The hotel and the rooms were really clean" and "The beds were comfortable." While one minor issue was raised about the bed height being "too tall for kids," the overall comfort and cleanliness of the accommodations seem to be well-regarded.
Additional amenities at the Wagon Wheel include a decent breakfast, although one guest suggested the hot items could be warmer. The availability of "a bathroom right there in the lobby" for hotel guests was also seen as a convenience. The peaceful atmosphere of the location was another positive aspect highlighted by a reviewer.
One particularly noteworthy aspect mentioned in a review was the positive interaction with the Hispanic staff member, Claudia, and Deana, who worked hard and kept the breakfast area clean and well-stocked. The reviewer specifically mentioned that "Having a Hispanic staff helped when the local people felt racist," indicating that the diverse staff contributed to a more welcoming and comfortable environment for some guests. This highlights the importance of a diverse and inclusive staff in addressing potential issues of discrimination.
The availability of a "variety of snacks to buy" was also appreciated as a "wonderful idea," although the pricing of some items, such as hats and single tide pods, was considered "too pricey" and "outrageous." The presence of a "laundromat on-site" was noted as a convenient amenity for travelers.
Despite a minor hiccup with a late-night check-in at the hotel, the reviewer ultimately had a positive experience, attributing it to the "great team" and expressing gratitude to the owner. This suggests that while there might be occasional minor issues, the overall quality of service and the team's dedication contribute to a positive guest experience.
For those searching for "RV parks near me" that offer a strategic location near Yellowstone's west entrance, shaded campsites with adequate space, and friendly, helpful staff, Wagon Wheel RV Campground is a strong contender. The positive feedback regarding the adjacent hotel's cleanliness, comfortable beds, and courteous staff further enhances its appeal for travelers with varying accommodation needs.
While pricing might be a consideration, the consensus is that Wagon Wheel offers good value relative to other options in the popular tourist destination of West Yellowstone. The presence of amenities like on-site laundry and a snack store adds to the convenience for campers. The positive comments about the staff, including their helpfulness and the inclusive environment fostered by a diverse team, are significant assets.

Wagon Wheel RV Campground Reviews
A solid little RV campground on the doorstep of Yellowstone’s west gate. Yes it is too expensive for the what it is, but actually good value compared to other options in this tourist town.We enjoyed our site (#4) which was a back in from the road which means you could pull up right out the front without having to wind through an entire campground to get home at night. The campground is nice and shaded and actually a decent amount of space at our site to relax outside. We use facilities in our RV so can’t comment on the bathrooms etc.Staff at the campground and hotel were friendly and helpful. My parents stayed in the Wagonwheel hotel and their room was very nice and they enjoyed their stay too. We would definitely come back here if in the area again.
Sep 12, 2024 · Emily PiperThe beds were comfortable but were too tall for kids. The hotel and the rooms were really clean. The staff was very informative and polite. They were very courteous and made sure we had everything we needed. The staff made sure to be fair with the price and gave us all applicable discounts. The price was lower than most of the area but didn't look cheap. The whiteness of the towels was outstanding. The breakfast was decent. I just wish that the eggs and potatoes were warmer but the lemonade tea was very good. I don't know if they get a lot of babies but they should get a high chair. I don't know if you get a lot of groups but it would be nice if the dining area had more chairs and a bigger family table. There was a bathroom right there in the lobby so you dont have to go all the way back to your room. I liked how peaceful it was. Having a Hispanic staff helped when the local people felt racist. Claudia and Deana were very hard workers. Deana kept cleaning and kept the breakfast area really clean and well stocked. After having such a horrible time in Madison, thanks to your hotel and staff we are leaving with better memories than we thought we would. Having a variety of snacks to buy was such a wonderful idea but the hats were too pricey and one tide pod for 2 dollars is outrageous. Having a laundromat on-site was convenient. Whoever the owner is, I want to thank her for such a great team. We called late at night the previous night but the owner wouldn't check us in because she was tired when she answered the phone. So we decided to give it a second chance and I'm glad we did.
Jun 30, 2023 · Sandra ArambulaIt serves as a good place to park, its close to the entrance. it's very tight spots, you are parked pretty much on top of your neighbour.so little privacy. full hook up but the drain pipes are fairly elevated and share with the neighbours on a y connector , so when they dump it ends up in your tube if you stay connected.
Feb 13, 2025 · Jay JahnI PROMISE THIS WILL BE THE MOST ACCURATE REVIEW WITH PROOF!***** LET THE DRAMA BEGIN!As I’m sure you have seen from the other reviews that some say 5 star and some that say 1 star and there isn’t much in between, let me tell you why.The 5 star reviews are from the employees from the park. I know this because I was so shocked by the conditions of this place after reading the reviews that I checked each 5 star and saw their faces working at the Rv park.As for the condition of the RV park it’s a 50/50. It’s in shambles 100% but if you’re staying inside your vehicle and not using the showers or anything you may be fine.THIS IS ALL FROM EXPERIENCE AND WITH VIDEOS OR PICTURES* if it’s a large RV you will scrape your vehicle on the trees they need trimmed.* You will also struggle with reception for satellite because the tree limbs scratching up the roof are smothering the option for reception* They stack the spots so if you are on the outside lot you have to back in over a curb and they have to guide you into it because you will have inches from trees or the other RV’s* The Rv drainage hookups are old. When you open them you can see water inches from the top. It was a concern thinking it would overflow so we didn’t use much water.* The concrete slabs slabs are broken up and a tripping hazard. Concrete blocks and garbage piled up around the walls of the camp site fences.* BATHROOMS!! mold everywhere, so dirty we wouldn’t even use them. That’s coming from someone that once showered with an inch worm in some random place outside LA.* Showers again in desperate need of repair the pictures will show you.* There is no “game room” on the premises and no communication to find out where.* The garbage cans we were using are the dumpsters next to the hotel as far as I know because there wasn’t any on our lot.AND HERE IS WHERE IT GETS WEIRD !! (Then I’ll show you videos of the condition in real time)Last night curled up in bed for the night only to be disturbed by two men laying halfway under our van hooking up to our water. My husband came out and asked what they were doing and they said they were getting water dry camping by the lake.We said “no you should go to the office and ask to use their water rather than using the water from our van”.They responded with “we are the office we work here and we need water for our dry camping”.We asked him to leave. They stood there and stared at us for about two or three minutes until my husband got somewhat aggressive and asked him to leave our van alone and get off our lot. I was a little afraid of leaving our van alone at night after that. Thank goodness we have security cameras. We didn’t have them on at the time, but we turned them on afterwards. All in all don’t believe the 5 star comments from the RV park itself. Trust your gut. This place would be a Gem if someone fixed it up. And in all honesty I’d probably stay here in a pinch if it wasn’t for them crawling under my van 🫣.It’s basically run down and in desperate need of repair. We looked and there are several RV parks near by that are SO much better.* also for some reason the videos aren’t posting so I’ll try until they do
Sep 16, 2023 · cindy harrisonGreat place and awesome views!! The host was wonderful, very helpful. The site is within walking distance to restaurants and other stores. They have clean shower, beautiful mature trees also very reasonably priced. The reason why I give 4 stars was that the fact it is an older campground and they don’t have cable TV.
