Are you currently searching for "RV parks near me" in the Winfield, Missouri area? Whispering Wind RV Park, located at 71 Whispering Wind Dr, Winfield, MO 63389, USA, offers a quiet and pet-friendly option for RV travelers. You can reach them at (636) 281-6402 or +1 636-281-6402. Based on recent customer reviews, the park presents a mixed experience, with some guests praising the responsive owner and peaceful atmosphere, while others highlight potential environmental concerns such as mud, flooding, and odors. It's important to consider these varying perspectives when evaluating Whispering Wind RV Park for your stay.
The environment at Whispering Wind RV Park is described by one reviewer as offering "beautiful sunrises and sunsets," suggesting a scenic aspect to the location, likely due to its more rural setting. However, this same reviewer also points out significant drawbacks, noting that the park is "horribly muddy and floods every time it rains." This suggests potential issues with drainage and ground conditions, which could impact the usability and enjoyment of the campsites and surrounding areas, particularly during periods of wet weather. Additionally, the presence of a "retention pond right at the front of the park" is mentioned as a source of unpleasant odors, with the reviewer stating that "unless it's below freezing it reeks." This could be a significant factor for sensitive individuals or those planning to spend extended time outdoors at their campsite. In contrast, another guest who stayed for several months described the park as "clean and generally quiet," indicating that while some areas or times might experience issues, others find the environment satisfactory. The presence of a retention pond near the entrance is a notable environmental feature that potential guests should be aware of.
In terms of services and features, one of the consistently praised aspects of Whispering Wind RV Park is the owner, Dave, who is described as "great" and "quite the character," as well as "always very responsive and friendly." This suggests that guests can expect attentive and helpful service from the park management. The park is also noted as being "pet friendly," which is a significant advantage for travelers with animals. While specific details about amenities like laundry facilities, restrooms, or Wi-Fi are not mentioned in the provided reviews, the positive feedback regarding the owner's responsiveness suggests that inquiries about these services would likely be addressed promptly. One concerning observation from a reviewer mentions the owner's father "rides around on a zero turn mower or golf cart constantly drinking" and is claimed to be "security." This raises potential safety and liability concerns that prospective guests may want to consider or inquire about with the management.
The location of Whispering Wind RV Park is described as being somewhat remote, with one reviewer stating that it is "30 minutes from anything besides a few gas stations, a small overpriced grocery store and dollar general." This suggests that while the park may offer a quiet and potentially secluded setting, access to a wider range of amenities, shopping, and entertainment options may require a significant drive. For those seeking a peaceful, out-of-the-way location, this might be appealing. However, for travelers who prefer easy access to urban conveniences or a variety of local attractions, the more isolated location of Whispering Wind RV Park could be a drawback. Potential guests should consider their preferences regarding proximity to services and plan accordingly.
The provided reviews do not contain any specific promotional information or details about the pricing of campsites or propane refills. To obtain the most current information on rates, availability, and any special offers, it is recommended to contact Whispering Wind RV Park directly at the phone numbers provided. Inquiring about daily, weekly, and monthly rates, as well as any potential discounts for longer stays or other promotions, will help you determine the cost-effectiveness of staying at the park. Given the contrasting experiences reported in the reviews, it would be prudent to inquire about the park's policies regarding refunds or adjustments in case of issues like flooding or odor.
Whispering Wind RV Park appears to cater to travelers seeking a quieter, more rural RV experience and those traveling with pets. The positive comments about the owner's responsiveness suggest that any issues or concerns are likely to be addressed promptly. However, prospective guests should be aware of the potential downsides mentioned in the reviews, including the possibility of muddy conditions, flooding during rain, and unpleasant odors from the retention pond. The more remote location may also be a factor to consider based on individual preferences for accessibility to services and attractions. It is advisable to weigh the positive feedback regarding the owner and the quiet atmosphere against the potential environmental drawbacks and the park's location when making your decision.
In conclusion, Whispering Wind RV Park near Winfield, Missouri, offers a potentially quiet and pet-friendly stay with a responsive owner. The beautiful sunrises and sunsets are a noted positive aspect of the environment. However, potential guests should be aware of the reported issues with mud, flooding during rain, and odors emanating from a nearby retention pond. The park's more remote location means that access to a wider range of amenities may require a drive. For the most accurate and up-to-date information on pricing, availability, and any park policies related to the concerns raised in the reviews, please contact Whispering Wind RV Park directly at (636) 281-6402 or +1 636-281-6402. Whispering Wind RV Park Reviews
It has beautiful sunrises and sunsets but that's about the only good thing I can say about this place. It's horribly muddy and floods every time it rains, there's a retention pond right at the front of the park and unless it's below freezing it reeks. It's 30 minutes from anything besides a few gas stations, a small overpriced grocery store and dollar general. His father rides around on a zero turn mower or golf cart constantly drinking and they claim he's "security"
Apr 03, 2025 · Sara KI have been staying here for the past several months and have nothing but good things to say about my experience so far. . The owner, Dave, is great (and Is quite the character) and always very responsive and friendly. The park itself is clean and generally quiet - no complaints! Pet friendly too !
Apr 09, 2025 · Amy DelGrossoGreat and convenient RV site. Owners are amazing and accommodating. Stayed 5 months and this is the most affordable place in this area. Sites very easy to back into. Electric and water included. Year round. Will be back.
May 04, 2025 · Mike HollifieldWe have been here going on 3 months. Dave and his family are very upfront and honest people to work with. They tell you what to expect as soon as you call to make a reservation. Nice quiet area pets welcome. We love it here
Nov 01, 2024 · Agness DickensExcellent people to work with can’t say enough good things about them. Got me in for a month long stay same day with no reservations. Plenty of space for my 43’ rig and dually plus wife’s car, still had plenty of space for a full size mat and chairs to sit outside in this quiet and peaceful park.
