A Spark in the Dark Campground Reviews
We visited Spark last weekend and had a fantastic and relaxing couple days and nights. We were surprised how straightforward it was to find and reach the campground in a medium-clearance vehicle. Not a bad trek at all.Clifford, the proprietor, is a living LEGEND, and does an amazing job keeping the place looking great, the wood pile stocked, and the Porta-John clean. (Forgot to sign the guest book. Next time!)Wide open views, fresh air, dark skies, and plenty of options to set up camp however you'd like.Recommended to anyone looking to camp comfortably in the high desert, or just snooze a night or two on a route 66 road trip.
Oct 18, 2024 · Rob HeckmanTruly the best host we have yet to come across. Clifford is the most laid back, kind, and friendly soul. He truly makes you feel welcome and whether you stay one night or long term (we stayed 3 months), your presence is always enjoyed. It is dry camping but Clifford offers a clean and enjoyable port-a-potty on site, a little store called “The Moon Light Market” which offers your necessities, a pleasant hiking trail, a meditation spot along with some horseshoe playing. His place truly offers you a safe and pleasurable experience that you will no doubt love. Thank you Clifford for our experience. You have made lifelong friends in us.
Aug 08, 2024 · Sierra WalkenbachWe stayed here for 2 nights a few weeks ago and had a great time. The night sky was amazing with the core being visible almost right away because of the time of year. Clifford is the nicest host we've come across and was very helpful when we noticed that we forgot something at the last minute. If you are in the area this should be #1 on your list of places to stay!
Nov 01, 2024 · Shaun HathawayClifford is such a kind, naturally welcoming soul! The property was just perfect for our needs, very open and quiet. Filled with quirky signs and features, definitely worth stopping by!
Feb 23, 2025 · Charles ByeMy family & I had a wonderful experience it being our first experience (hopefully visiting very soon again!). The host Cliff was an outstanding host as well as very hospitable :D his campground was something very unique & unlike anything I’ve ever seen🤩 Very thoughtful on the designs (won’t spoil the fun) he also has a trail practically within the campground in case anyone would like to go on a 3 mile hike 😁 best part he has the path winding & if you’re very observant you might come across some of his walking sticks that you can stake claim too. Which from my experience very hidden so keep those eyes peeled. If the hike is to much that’s alright he has some walking sticks you can buy at a reasonable price plus a rotating selection of items which I thought it was awesome! The camp itself was very spacious & the night sky was wonderful to see! P.S. I don’t won’t to add any spoiler pictures & please pick up any trash that you bring because he’s a great guy trying to provide a family friendly experience for everyone (also pick up after your dogs to one mindful) ✌️
