Immerse Yourself in the Beauty of Percy Priest Lake
The environment surrounding Anderson Road Campground is undoubtedly one of its primary draws. Situated on Percy Priest Lake, a large and scenic reservoir, the campground offers campers stunning water views and direct access for various lake activities. The lake is described as "beautiful" with "very clear" water, making it ideal for swimming, boating, kayaking, and simply enjoying the waterfront scenery. The presence of lakeside sites allows campers to wake up to picturesque views and easily engage in water-based recreation throughout their stay.
The campground itself boasts a mature and pleasant environment. Reviews mention "paved" sites and others with "packed gravel that were relatively flat," indicating well-maintained camping pads. The presence of trees, as noted by one camper who enjoyed hanging hammocks, suggests that many sites offer shade and a natural ambiance. Interestingly, despite its lakeside location, one reviewer was pleasantly surprised by the "surprisingly few bugs," which can significantly enhance the outdoor experience, particularly during warmer months.
While the campground offers a tranquil setting, one potential environmental consideration is the proximity to Nashville and its associated traffic. One reviewer noted that their "only drawback was the Nashville traffic," implying that some noise from the city might be audible at times. However, they still found the overall experience positive enough to plan a return visit, suggesting that the benefits of the campground outweigh this minor inconvenience for many.
Spacious and Well-Maintained Services and Features
Anderson Road Campground is praised for its "very spacious sites," a significant advantage that provides campers with ample room for setting up their equipment and enjoying their outdoor living space without feeling crowded. The fact that most sites are either paved or packed gravel contributes to a clean and level camping experience, making setup easier for both RVs and tents. The reviewer who stayed on three separate sites during a long weekend found them all "easy enough to get into and level without any blocking," highlighting the thoughtful design and maintenance of the campsites.
For those with larger RVs or trailers, it's worth noting that while most sites are accommodating, one reviewer cautioned that "there were a few that would have proved challenging" for "a long rig." This suggests that campers with larger vehicles may want to inquire about specific site dimensions or consult a campground map to ensure a suitable and easily accessible spot.
A significant feature of Anderson Road Campground is the lake access available from many sites. One reviewer specifically mentioned staying in "site #2 with lake access" and noted that "sites 1-7 have what looks like the best lake access." This direct access allows campers to easily enjoy swimming, fishing, or simply relaxing by the water's edge. The clear water of Percy Priest Lake further enhances these activities.

One reviewer mentioned having "good service" with Starlink at site #2, indicating that cellular or satellite internet connectivity may be available at some locations within the campground, which can be a valuable feature for those needing to stay connected.
The campground's closure for the winter on September 30th is an important piece of information for local users planning late-season camping trips. This seasonal closure suggests that the optimal time to visit Anderson Road Campground is during the spring and summer months.

Anderson Road Campground Reviews
Better than typical COE park, most sites are paved but others packed gravel that were relatively flat. Our first time here, we stopped in for a long weekend and stayed on three separate sites, All were easy enough to get into and level without any blocking. Walking around, there were a few that would have proved challenging. So be careful if you have a long rig. The lake is beautiful and the water very clear; surprisingly few bugs, even on the lakeside sites. Our only drawback was the Nashville traffic, even so we will plan a week back here next year -- they close for the winter September 30.
Sep 08, 2024 · Mark GambalieBeautiful campground with very spacious sites. We stayed in site #2 with lake access. There are quite a few sites with lake access so look at the campground map. I know that sites 1-7 have what looks like the best lake access. Nice and quiet within the campground. We have a starlink and site #2 gave us good service. We hung our hammocks on the trees and spent most of the day floating on the water and afternoons swinging in the hammocks! Then dinner and back on the floats until sunset. A beautiful place to relax 🥰
Jul 12, 2024 · Dawn DykstraThis is Corps of Engineers campground. Bathrooms are old, from the Cold War era and require a hike or a drive. Most of the tent sites have no electric and no water. Views from the beach are beautiful though. Sites are well maintained.
Jul 20, 2024 · Marina De LongI stayed here for an over night trip. It's great if you're looking for a quick getaway, but it's still in Antioch, so it's a little noisy and it can be a little rowdy. I heard gun shots and sirens from the development on the other side of the woods, but other than that, it felt like nature!
Jun 24, 2024 · Harrison DoyleAbsolutely love this campground. It's insanely close to where we live, but even better is the lake front camp sites! Some have electric hook ups for RV and there are RV specific sites. However, every site is allowed tents and there are plenty of places to pick from. There are only about 3-4 sites that are legitimately a step away from the lake, some are just a tad further away and a couple have a very nice path to your lakefront. The rest are in the trees on the inside loop of the peninsula. All come with a stone Picnic Bench, Fire Pit, Grill, and wooden Prep Table. The bathrooms, showers, and sites are all kept very clean too! Perfect place for a night or two, or a whole week! We have also come to learn that lots of guests stay here for cheap and make their way to Nashville! My favorite site is most certainly 19, but book fast! We booked our fourth of July celebration 4-5 months in advance!
