Called to book a cabin and got anxiety from the rude lady on the phone. She is the middle of the most beautiful piece of land that there is in CA and to be that stressed, mean, and rude she must have a rough life. We rented down at Virginia creek. Why give your money toSomeone that couldn’t care less about the people whose $ supports their land. There are other happier people to rent from such as the family at the first lake. They homeschool their kids and are and have always been nice and responsible to deal with. Their store is stocked, they have a great bar, bait tackle, laundry, FREE WIFI and a smile. Spend your money wisely. You vote with your dollars. - Yehuda Schweizer

Annett's Mono Village Introduce

Annett's Mono Village, located at 13425 Twin Lakes Rd, Bridgeport, CA 93517, USA, is more than just a campground; it is a full-service destination resort offering a wide array of accommodations and amenities in one of California's most breathtaking natural settings. For anyone searching 'Camping Near Me' in the Eastern Sierra, Annett's Mono Village presents a comprehensive option for everything from rustic tent camping to comfortable cabin stays, all centered around the stunning Upper Twin Lake.

Environment and Location

Annett's Mono Village is majestically situated on the shores of Upper Twin Lake, at an elevation of approximately 7,100 feet. This puts it squarely in the heart of the "California Alps," with the dramatic Sawtooth Ridge and Sierra Crest providing a stunning backdrop, creating a basin that borders Yosemite National Park. The scenery is nothing short of spectacular, characterized by pristine alpine lakes, lush evergreens, and vibrant patches of aspen and cottonwood trees, particularly striking during the fall foliage season.

The resort is approximately 14 miles southwest of the charming town of Bridgeport, easily accessible via Twin Lakes Road. This paved road winds through picturesque landscapes, offering numerous pull-offs to admire the reflection of the trees in the clear lake water. While the location feels wonderfully secluded and immersed in nature, its relative proximity to Bridgeport means essential services and additional dining options are within a reasonable drive.

The operational season for Annett's Mono Village typically runs from the last Saturday in April through October 31st annually, allowing visitors to experience the beauty of spring, summer, and autumn in the High Sierra. The climate offers warm summer days ideal for outdoor activities, with cooler evenings. Visitors should be prepared for varying mountain weather, as conditions can change quickly, especially as the season progresses towards late fall.

The immediate environment of the resort includes a large beach on the lake, providing direct access for swimming and relaxing by the water. A stream also runs through the area, adding to the natural charm and offering additional spots for leisurely strolls or quiet contemplation. The natural setting means abundant opportunities for wildlife viewing, with deer being a common sight.

Services and Features

Annett's Mono Village stands out for its extensive range of services and features, designed to cater to a diverse clientele, from serious anglers to families seeking a comfortable wilderness retreat:

  • Accommodations:
    • Campground: The resort boasts a 300-space campground, operating on a "first-come, first-served" basis with no reservations for any sites. It offers both "hook-up" (water, sewer, and electricity) and "dry camp" sites. Hook-up sites are noted as potentially being "taken up by old timers" for the whole season, and some can be quite close together. Pets are allowed in camp or hook-up sites, but must be kept on a short leash and attended at all times. Maximum of eight persons (including infants) per site.
    • Cabins: Numerous fully furnished and equipped housekeeping units are available. These come with bathrooms (some rustic cabins may not have a sink in the bathroom, but all kitchens have sinks), fully equipped kitchens (pots, pans, dishes, utensils, toaster, coffee maker), bedding, linens, and towels. Microwaves are generally not provided in units but are available in the nearby store. All rental units are non-smoking, and pets are strictly prohibited in or around cabins/rentals, with violations leading to immediate eviction and forfeiture of deposits. Cabins require a two-night minimum stay in the off-season and are rented weekly (Saturday to Saturday) from early June through Labor Day.
    • Motel Rooms: The resort also offers motel rooms with various bed configurations (e.g., two double beds or two singles and one double), a walk-in shower, and in-room coffee supplies. Similar to cabins, motel units are non-smoking and do not allow pets. They also lack telephones, televisions, refrigerators, or air conditioning, maintaining a rustic feel.
  • Marina and Boating: Annett's Mono Village features a fully equipped marina with launching valet services, boat rentals (including pontoon boats), fuel sales, haul out and boat repair services, and dry storage capacity. This makes it a prime location for boating enthusiasts.
  • Dining and Retail:
    • Cafe/Restaurant: An on-site cafe offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Reviews mention an outdoor Friday night BBQ from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
    • Cocktail Lounge: A full bar is available for evening relaxation.
    • General Store: A fully stocked grocery store with an ATM machine. This store is highly praised for having "almost everything you need," from fishing gear to snacks and camping supplies. Operating hours vary by season, so checking them is recommended.
    • Bait and Tackle Shop: Specifically catering to anglers, this shop offers fishing licenses, bait, tackle, and other fishing essentials.
    • Gift Shop: Features clothing and assorted gift items.
  • Other Amenities:
    • Laundry Facilities: Available on-site for guest convenience.
    • Free Wi-Fi: Available, which is a significant amenity in a remote area where cell service is often unavailable (cell service is generally only accessible about eight miles out Twin Lakes Road towards Bridgeport).
    • Picnic Areas: Spacious lawn areas with BBQs and picnic tables are available for general use.
    • Utilities: Propane and wood are sold on-site. Ice is also available.
    • Fish Cleaning Station: A necessary amenity for a popular fishing destination.
    • Sanitary Dump Station: For RV and trailer waste disposal.

Promotional Information and Community Vibe

Annett's Mono Village is promoted as a "fishermen's haven and family vacation hideaway," emphasizing its dual appeal. The resort hosts an Annual Summer Fishing Derby on Upper Twin Lake, attracting anglers with cash and merchandise prizes, highlighting its strong fishing culture. The beautiful scenery and ease of access to the lake are consistent themes in positive feedback.

For those searching 'Camping Near Me' who are looking for a comprehensive resort experience rather than just a simple campsite, Annett's Mono Village is an ideal fit. It caters to those who enjoy fishing, hiking, boating, and simply relaxing in a stunning natural environment, with the convenience of on-site dining, shopping, and essential services.

However, it is important for prospective visitors to be aware of some feedback regarding customer service. While some reviews highlight friendly and helpful staff, others mention encountering rude or stressed individuals, particularly when making reservations or regarding specific rules. There have been instances where strict enforcement of rules, especially regarding pets in non-designated areas and occupancy limits, has led to negative experiences for some guests. Visitors should be prepared for the resort's strict pet policy for rentals and motels and ensure they adhere to all posted rules. The "first-come, first-served" policy for campsites also means early arrival is advised, especially during peak season, to secure a spot.

Despite these occasional concerns, the overwhelming sentiment from many long-term visitors and first-timers alike is that Annett's Mono Village offers a "beautiful scenery and memorable experience." It's a place where generations of families have created cherished memories, enjoying the abundance of outdoor activities and the convenience of a full-service resort in the heart of the Eastern Sierra. For those who appreciate a lively, amenity-rich camping and resort experience amidst unparalleled natural beauty, Annett's Mono Village provides a compelling option.
