Antioch Loop #118 Introduce
For local residents in the Montgomery, Alabama area seeking "camping near me," Antioch Loop #118, located at 561 Booth Rd, Montgomery, AL 36108, USA, presents a riverside camping option managed by the Corp of Engineers. With contact numbers (334) 269-1053 and +1 334-269-1053 available for inquiries, this campground offers the potential for scenic views and river access. However, based on recent customer reviews, it's important for prospective visitors to be aware of the current conditions and consider their specific camping needs.
The environment surrounding Antioch Loop #118 appears to be a significant draw, with one reviewer noting that many sites are located "right on the river with a view!" This suggests a picturesque setting along a waterway, potentially offering opportunities for fishing, waterside relaxation, and enjoying natural scenery. Being a Corp of Engineers campground often implies access to public lands and natural resources associated with the river. However, one review also mentions that the campground is in need of "a lot of work," indicating that while the location itself might be appealing, the upkeep of the grounds could be a concern. Despite this, the potential for waterfront camping is a key environmental feature that might attract those seeking proximity to the river.
The services and amenities at Antioch Loop #118 seem to be basic, based on the available reviews. One reviewer noted that "the bathrooms were clean," which is a positive aspect regarding hygiene. However, they also mentioned that "the infrastructure could use an upgrade," suggesting that the facilities might be somewhat dated or in need of repair. Another significant concern raised is that "it appears that no one works cleaning up the sites due to their conditions," implying that individual campsites might not be well-maintained between visitors. The condition of the infrastructure extends to the roadways within the campground, described as being in "terrible condition" with a lack of directional signs, potentially making navigation difficult. While the presence of a bathhouse with clean bathrooms is a basic service, the overall infrastructure and site maintenance appear to be areas needing improvement.
The primary feature of Antioch Loop #118 seems to be its location, with "may site right on the river with a view!" This direct river access and the potential for scenic waterfront camping are significant attractions. However, the negative feedback regarding the campground's condition is a crucial factor to consider. The reviewer who suggested it might be suitable for an "overnight traveling site, but not for a longer period of time" implies that while the location might be convenient for a brief stopover, the overall state of the campground might not be conducive to an extended stay. The comparison to the "Catoma section of campsites," which is described as "100 times better" with better roads, bathhouse, and paved driveways, highlights a significant difference in quality within the broader camping area. This suggests that while Antioch Loop #118 offers riverside camping, potential visitors might want to inquire about the Catoma section as an alternative if they are seeking a more well-maintained experience within the same general location.
The lack of positive comments regarding specific recreational features or additional amenities beyond the basic bathhouse is notable. There is no mention of facilities like a playground, picnic areas, or organized activities, which are often found in more developed campgrounds. This reinforces the impression that Antioch Loop #118 offers a more basic camping experience focused primarily on the natural environment of the river.
Promotional information is not provided in the available reviews. Local users interested in camping at Antioch Loop #118 should contact the provided phone numbers, (334) 269-1053 or +1 334-269-1053, to inquire about current rates, availability, and any specific regulations or guidelines for the campground. As a Corp of Engineers facility, pricing might be standardized or based on site type (e.g., waterfront vs. non-waterfront). It would also be wise to ask about the conditions of the campsites and roadways, as well as the availability of amenities beyond the bathhouse. Inquiring about the Catoma section and its availability might also be a prudent step based on the reviewer's positive feedback about that area.
In conclusion, for local residents seeking "camping near me" in Montgomery, Alabama, Antioch Loop #118 offers the appealing prospect of riverside camping managed by the Corp of Engineers. The potential for scenic views and direct river access is a significant draw. However, prospective visitors should be aware of the concerns raised in the reviews regarding the campground's infrastructure, site maintenance, and the condition of the roadways. While the clean bathrooms are a positive aspect, the overall impression is of a campground in need of upgrades and better upkeep. For those seeking a basic overnight stop with river access, Antioch Loop #118 might suffice. However, for a longer or more comfortable stay, exploring the Catoma section of the same camping area appears to be a strongly recommended alternative based on the available feedback.

Antioch Loop #118 Reviews
This is not a bad campground but it needs a lot of work. I would stay here for an overnight traveling site, but not for a longer period of time. The bathrooms were clean but the infrastructure could use an upgrade. It appears that no one works cleaning up the sites due to their conditions. The roadway thru the campground is in terrible condition and there are NO signs telling you which direction to go. We drove thru the Catoma section of campsites and it is 100 times better. The roads, the Bathhouse, paved driveways, everything!!! So if we return we'll stay in that area.
May 19, 2024 · Tona MorganNice place to Camp! This is a Corp of Engineers campground with may site right on the river with a view!

Mar 23, 2025 · Mike LyonsNice campground, but the women's bathroom was disgusting. Only one sink worked out of all of them, half the toilets wouldn't flush, the air conditioner didn't work, and I don't think they've ever been cleaned. The showers were awful as well. Otherwise, it was a beautiful place and we enjoyed our time there!
