Based on recent customer reviews, this resort offers a blend of convenient amenities, spacious sites, and a friendly, community-oriented atmosphere, making it a noteworthy option for RV enthusiasts exploring or passing through the region.
Convenient Location with Manageable Highway Access
While one reviewer noted that the location might not be in a "great" area, another highlighted the manageable access from westbound Highway 80. Despite heavy traffic, the presence of stoplights facilitates safe crossing of eastbound lanes to reach the park. For those traveling across the country, the resort's accessibility from a major highway is a significant advantage. Furthermore, the new managers, Trish and Blake, are commended for providing clear directions for navigating both into and out of the park, even offering specific guidance on safely accessing westbound Highway 80 via a nearby Circle K parking lot, addressing potential challenges with exiting directly onto the highway.
Spacious and Well-Equipped Pull-Through Sites
The Backyard RV Resort appears to cater well to larger RVs and trailers. One reviewer with a "big rig plus long trailer" specifically praised their 120-foot pull-through site (#402) for being level and having a crushed rock surface. The utility connections are reported to be perfectly placed for easy access, providing strong 50-amp electrical service. Although not used by the reviewer, complimentary Wi-Fi and cable TV connections are also offered, adding to the convenience for guests looking to stay connected and entertained.
Comprehensive Amenities for a Comfortable Stay
The resort boasts a range of amenities designed to enhance the comfort and convenience of its guests. A large bathhouse with ADA-accessible showers and toilets ensures that the facilities are inclusive and cater to various needs. Fee-based washers and dryers are available for those requiring laundry services, particularly beneficial for longer stays. The community "Grill Hub" provides a dedicated space for outdoor cooking and socializing. A concrete fire pit area with comfortable Adirondack chairs offers a cozy spot for evening gatherings. Additionally, a large covered "Hangout" area, equipped with tall tables and even a TV, serves as a communal space for relaxation and interaction.
Unique Recreational Features
Beyond the standard amenities, The Backyard RV Resort offers some unique recreational features. A catch and release lake provides a relaxing opportunity for fishing enthusiasts. The "cool hangout area" mentioned in one review also features plenty of yard games for family entertainment, suggesting a focus on providing leisure activities within the resort grounds.
A Welcoming and Diverse Community Atmosphere
The resort seems to foster a welcoming atmosphere, with one reviewer noting that the other patrons appeared to be a mix of overnight travelers, families, and extended-stay RVers. This blend suggests a diverse and potentially engaging community environment for guests, whether they are passing through for a night or settling in for a longer period.
Friendly and Helpful Management
The new managers, Trish and Blake, receive high praise in one review for their eagerness to help and provide clear directions. The "lady in the office" is also described as a "gem," indicating a generally friendly and helpful staff presence. However, one reviewer did mention an initial abrupt encounter with a manager who didn't realize they were registered, highlighting the importance of clear communication upon arrival.
Considerations Regarding Security and Aesthetics
One area for potential improvement, noted by a reviewer, is the condition of the fencing around the property, with a portion reported as fallen down, creating a feeling of being "junky" and potentially raising concerns about security. While this didn't result in any actual problems for the reviewer, it is an aesthetic and potential security aspect that local users might want to consider. The resort management may be addressing this issue to enhance the overall appearance and security of the property.
Thoughtful Design of Restroom Facilities
The restroom facilities are noted for having different codes for men's and women's restrooms, which is seen as a positive security measure by one reviewer. However, this reviewer also mentioned receiving both codes, making the purpose of the separate codes somewhat unclear in their specific situation. Nonetheless, the intention behind the separate codes suggests a focus on guest safety and privacy.
Peaceful Natural Sounds
Guests can expect to wake up to the pleasant sounds of birds chirping, contributing to a peaceful and relaxing environment. The gentle hum of a distant train is also mentioned, which some might find soothing while others might be more sensitive to such sounds.

The Backyard RV Resort Reviews
Traveling across country and found this gem! We accessed the park via westbound Hwy 80 and although traffic was heavy, there were plenty of stoplights to safely cross the eastbound lanes into the park. Arriving late afternoon on a Wednesday we found the new managers, Trish and Blake eager to help direct us to our pull-through site (#402 - crushed rock, level and 120' to accommodate our big rig plus long trailer). The utility connections were perfectly placed for easy access providing strong 50 amp service and although we did not use it, they offered complimentary wi-fi and cable TV connections. The amenities included a large bathhouse with ADA-accessible showers & toilets, fee-based washers & dryers, community "Grill Hub", concrete fire pit area with comfy Adirondack chairs, a large covered "Hangout" with (tall tables and even a TV) plus a catch & release lake! The other patrons appeared to be a mix of overnight travelers, families and extended stay RVers. After a peaceful nights rest, we awoke to birds chirping and the gentle hum of a distant train. Exiting the park to access Hwy 80 west appeared to be a challenge, however Trish & Blake directed us to take a right turn out of the park, a quick left turn into a large Circle K parking lot with large driveway access to westbound Hwy 80. Easy!!Looking forward to our next opportunity to enjoy all that this RV park has to offer!
Apr 25, 2025 · TNT HartungNot bad. Not in a great location, but we didn't have any problems either. A bunch of the fence has fallen down which gives a feeling of junky and lack of security. Inside the campground there is a cool hangout area with plenty of yard games for the family. We had fun. The manager was a bit abrupt when he saw us driving around. He didn't realize we were registered and was not welcoming. The lady in the office was a gem though. The bathrooms have different codes for men's and women's, good thinking. But they have us both codes, which we needed, so I'm not sure it really matters...?
Mar 06, 2025 · Dan FagundoBackyard has been a stopping place for the last 8 years. It is so convenient for us on our way to Gulf Shores and later Florida. It’s easy to exit 65 South or North and only minutes from the Interstate. Clean restrooms, laundry, plenty of water pressure, 30/50 amp service, WiFi, and cable tv. It’s moderately priced and well worth it. I give it a 10 out of 10.
Mar 06, 2025 · Dennis StreightI would not stay here if I was you. Reason #1-you can not get a hold of anyone in the office. Phone says no matter when you call, "I'm sorry the the person you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time". God forbid there is an emergency. You are packed in like sardines. When we arrived early afternoon one orange paper hung on office door. Gave us minimal information. #2 There is dog crap everywhere in grass areas, despite waste receptacles spaced out nicely. #3 Advertises Wifi but you can't get it. If you are lucky and get it on your phone all it does is buffer. This is deceptive advertising!! Not everyone has "Hotspot " availability and for you to state that is how you can get Wifi is illegal when you advertise Wifi is part of your experience there.**Just heard from them. I stand by my assessment but since it under new management I'm sure these issues will be addressed and will be a delightful place to stay. Thanks for responding to me.
