Arnold Air Force Base FamCamp Main Office Introduce
For local users seeking "camping near me" in the Tullahoma, Tennessee, area, the Arnold Air Force Base FamCamp Main Office, located at 4176 Westover Rd, Tullahoma, TN 37388, USA, offers a campground experience with a mix of practical amenities and natural beauty. Reachable by phone at (931) 454-6084 or mobile at +1 931-454-6084, this FamCamp provides a camping option primarily catering to those with military access, though it may be open to other eligible users as well. It’s important to verify eligibility requirements prior to planning a stay.
The environment of Arnold Air Force Base FamCamp presents a blend of managed facilities and natural surroundings. One of the notable aspects highlighted in reviews is the "very nice views of the lake," suggesting a scenic setting that can enhance the camping experience. Guests have also reported seeing deer and other wildlife throughout the area, indicating a connection with nature. However, it's worth noting that the campground is described as "kinda remote" with "not much to do" in the immediate vicinity. This could be a significant advantage for those seeking a quiet and secluded retreat away from busier tourist areas. The remoteness encourages a focus on the natural environment and the campground's amenities rather than nearby attractions.
While the remoteness might limit off-site activities, the FamCamp does offer certain conveniences for its guests, particularly those with base access. A commissary, described as "okay" but "smallish," is located approximately 5 miles from the FamCamp, providing access to groceries and essential supplies. The exchange (BX) is noted as being "extremely small," which might limit shopping options for campers. For practical needs, the campground offers a laundry facility with one washer and dryer, which is reported to be reasonably priced. Additionally, the bathhouse is praised for being "well kept" with "plenty of hot water and good showerheads," indicating a comfortable and clean amenity for guests.
The Arnold Air Force Base FamCamp offers several features that contribute to the camping experience:
- Concrete Pads: A significant plus mentioned by reviewers is that "most of the sites have concrete pads," providing a stable and relatively clean surface for RVs and camping setups.
- Electric and Water Hookups: One review specifically mentions "nice concrete pads with electric and water," indicating essential utility hookups are available at some or most sites.
- Free Dump Buddy: The availability of a "free to use dump buddy" is a valuable amenity for RV owners, simplifying waste disposal.
- Lake Views: As highlighted by a guest, the campground offers "very nice views of the lake," enhancing the aesthetic appeal and providing a tranquil backdrop.
- Wildlife Observation: The presence of deer and other wildlife adds a natural element to the camping experience, appealing to nature enthusiasts.
- Laundry Facilities: The campground provides a laundry room with at least one washer and dryer, offering convenience for longer stays.
- Well-Kept Bathhouse: The bathhouse is reported to be clean and well-maintained, with good quality showers and ample hot water.
- Easy Check-In: The check-in process is described as "easy," and the staff were noted as "very nice," contributing to a positive initial experience.
However, it's also important to consider some of the less positive aspects mentioned in the reviews:
- Uneven and Unlevel Sites: A recurring concern is that "most of the sites are not well graded and are not level." Campers are advised to "definitely have your jack pads ready" to compensate for the uneven terrain.
- Limited Signage: Navigation within the campground could be improved with "additional signage to help navigate the campground."
- Remoteness and Limited Nearby Activities: The campground's remote location might be a drawback for those seeking a wide range of nearby attractions or entertainment options.
- Small Commissary and Exchange: While accessible to those with base privileges, the commissary is described as smallish, and the exchange is extremely small, potentially limiting shopping choices.
Promotional information for Arnold Air Force Base FamCamp was not included in the provided reviews. As a military facility, its pricing and availability might differ from privately owned campgrounds. Local users who are eligible to use FamCamps should inquire directly with the main office about current rates, reservation policies, and any potential discounts for extended stays or specific groups. For local users with the necessary military affiliation or base access, Arnold Air Force Base FamCamp offers a camping option with the benefit of concrete pads, utility hookups, a free dump station, and scenic lake views. The presence of a laundry facility and a well-maintained bathhouse adds to the convenience for campers. While the unevenness of some sites and the remote location with limited nearby attractions are factors to consider, the tranquility and natural beauty of the area could be appealing to those seeking a more secluded camping experience. Access to the base commissary and exchange, albeit small, provides some additional convenience for eligible users.
Before planning a stay at Arnold Air Force Base FamCamp, local users should:
- Verify Eligibility: Confirm whether they meet the criteria for using military FamCamps.
- Inquire About Reservations: Understand the reservation process and any lead times, especially during peak seasons.
- Ask About Site Levels: If site levelness is a concern, inquire about specific sites that might be more level or be prepared with adequate leveling equipment.
- Obtain Directions and Campground Map: Due to potential signage issues, it might be helpful to get detailed directions and a map of the campground beforehand.

- Inquire About Pricing and Policies: Obtain the current rates and understand the campground's rules and regulations.
In conclusion, Arnold Air Force Base FamCamp near Tullahoma, TN, offers a camping experience with a blend of practical amenities and natural beauty, particularly the lake views. Arnold Air Force Base FamCamp Main Office Reviews
Definitely have your jack pads ready. Most of the sites are not well graded and are not level. Could use additional signage to help navigate the campground. On the plus side, most of the sites have concrete pads. Check in was easy and they were very nice. Kinda remote and not much to do. Which may be a plus if that is what you are looking for. For those with access, commissary nearby is okay, smallish. Exchange is extremely small, I thought we walked into the Package Store. Laundry was good 1 wash and dryer, but reasonably priced. Bathhouse is well kept with plenty of hot water and good showerheads. Overall, didn't hate it, but didn't love it either.
Apr 25, 2025 · Jenifer FosnaughA absolute hidden gem. Nice concrete pads with electric and water. Has a free to use dump buddy. Very nice views of the lake, deer and wildlife all over. BX and Commissary about 5 miles from the FamCamp.
Aug 14, 2024 · Paul SchulzThis campground is immaculate with all the amenities that a camper needs! The grounds and sites are taken care of properly. The laundry works great! The staff are respectful, professional, and friendly. What May not be common knowledge is that there are mountain bike trails within a few hundred yards of the campground and they’re fantastic.
Mar 11, 2023 · T&BA beautiful park, BUT NOT big rig friendly. Tight turns, access to the dump station difficult since no sewers at sites. Restrooms/showers were great.
Oct 18, 2024 · Steve HudakThis was our second stay at Arnold AFB FamCamp and we enjoyed it very much. The campground is wooded and the lake views are amazing. Cindy and Mike at Outdoor Rec were both very helpful and friendly.
