The Forest at Tims Ford Introduce
Looking for a privately owned campground near the popular Tims Ford Lake? The Forest at Tims Ford, located at 4961 Mansford Rd, Winchester, TN 37398, USA, offers a convenient option for local users searching within the "camping near me" category. Situated less than a 5-minute drive from the lake, this campground provides full hookups and other amenities for both RV and tent campers. However, recent reviews highlight important safety concerns and site spacing issues that potential visitors should consider.
As a listed option on the "camping near me" platform, The Forest at Tims Ford appeals to those seeking proximity to Tims Ford Lake with the added benefit of full hookups, a feature not always available at the state park campgrounds. The platform can also connect you with local businesses that might provide services and goods to enhance your camping experience, such as boat rentals at Tims Ford Lake marinas, fishing supply stores in Winchester, and RV repair services in the surrounding area. It's important for local users to be aware of all available information to make an informed decision about their camping destination.
The environment at The Forest at Tims Ford is described as "very scenic with lots of grass and trees," suggesting a pleasant and natural setting. Its close proximity to Tims Ford Lake allows for easy access to the lake's recreational opportunities, including boating, fishing, and swimming. The campground is noted to be "very quiet" and "peaceful," which can be a significant draw for those seeking a relaxing getaway. However, a concerning review details an incident involving a large limb falling and damaging a camper and truck, with the reviewer stating that other long-term campers were aware of "several dead trees that need to be removed." This raises a potential safety concern regarding the health and maintenance of the trees within the campground environment.
The Forest at Tims Ford offers several services, including full hookups (water, sewer, and electric), which is a key reason why some campers choose it over the nearby state park. A reviewer praised the "super nice" bathhouse, indicating that restroom facilities are available and well-maintained. Another significant amenity is free Wi-Fi, with a reviewer noting a "very strong connection" that allowed for streaming on multiple devices. The campground also has a main office where guests check-in and where employees can be contacted. However, the negative review mentions a lack of follow-up from the owners regarding the fallen tree incident and unanswered phone calls, raising concerns about customer service responsiveness in critical situations. It's important for potential campers to consider both the positive and negative feedback regarding the services provided.
The features of The Forest at Tims Ford include its convenient location near Tims Ford Lake, making it ideal for lake-related activities. The availability of full hookups caters specifically to RV campers seeking these amenities. The presence of free and strong Wi-Fi is a notable perk for those who wish to stay connected. The scenic loops with grass and trees contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal. However, a significant drawback mentioned in a review is that "some of the spots are very, very close together," particularly in the standard spots. The campground does offer "preferred spots" with more spacious lots, suggesting that site size varies. Campers are advised to "pay attention to the pad length" when booking, as some sites are quite short and only suitable for smaller campers. The incident with the falling tree limb and the alleged awareness of dead trees by the owners, as reported in a review, is a serious feature that potential campers must be aware of for safety reasons.
Currently, there is no explicitly stated promotional information available for The Forest at Tims Ford in the provided reviews. However, the fact that they offer full hookups near Tims Ford Lake can be seen as a competitive advantage over some other campgrounds in the area. The free Wi-Fi is also a valuable perk that might attract campers. Potential local users could inquire directly about any seasonal discounts, extended stay rates, or other special offers by calling the provided phone numbers. However, given the serious safety concerns raised in one of the reviews, any promotional appeal should be weighed against the potential risks associated with the reported tree issues and the campground's alleged prior knowledge.
The customer reviews present a mixed picture of The Forest at Tims Ford. One reviewer had a very positive experience, highlighting the proximity to the lake, full hookups, nice bathhouse, scenic loops, strong free Wi-Fi, and the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. They recommended the campground overall but advised being mindful of site spacing and pad length. The other review details a concerning safety incident involving a falling tree limb causing significant damage and alleges negligence on the part of the owners due to their purported awareness of dead trees and lack of proactive removal or communication with campers. This reviewer also expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of follow-up and responsiveness from the campground management after the incident. This stark contrast in experiences underscores the importance of considering all available feedback when making a decision.
For local users considering The Forest at Tims Ford, the "camping near me" platform can also help locate nearby services and goods. For those planning to enjoy Tims Ford Lake, the platform might list local marinas for boat rentals or fishing charters. Anglers can find nearby bait and tackle shops. RV owners might want to locate mobile RV repair services in the Winchester area in case of any issues. General camping supplies can likely be found at stores in Winchester. However, in light of the safety concerns raised in a review, it would be prudent for potential campers to inquire directly with the campground about the status of tree maintenance and safety protocols before booking. The "camping near me" platform can provide contact information and potentially links to the campground's website or other review sites where more information might be available.
In conclusion, The Forest at Tims Ford offers a convenient location near Tims Ford Lake with the benefit of full hookups and free Wi-Fi. The campground is described as scenic, quiet, and peaceful, with a nice bathhouse. However, a serious safety concern has been raised regarding falling tree limbs and the alleged negligence of the owners regarding the removal of dead trees. Additionally, some campsites are noted to be very close together, and pad lengths vary. Local users searching for "camping near me" should carefully consider both the positive aspects (location, amenities) and the potential drawbacks (safety concerns, site spacing) highlighted in the reviews before making a reservation at The Forest at Tims Ford. It is strongly recommended to contact the campground directly to inquire about the tree safety issue and to discuss site options to ensure a safe and comfortable stay.

The Forest at Tims Ford Reviews
I am honestly not a fan of leaving bad reviews, but I can only count on one hand how many times I have written a bad review, but I felt this is appropriate for a few reasons and primarily a safety concern. My wife and I had a weekend camping trip to this location a few weeks ago. One evening we were in our camper and heard a very loud crash which shook the camper. I knew immediately that it was a tree that had fallen. We immediately went outside where we were accompanied by several other campers to check to see what had happened. Unfortunately, we had a very large limb strike our camper, our truck and also damaged the sites picknick table. Fortunately, we were inside the camper when it occurred and not the picnic table or things could have been much worse. We were told by several other campers that have been staying long term the owners of the campground are aware of several dead trees that need to be removed. The said they did not plan on removing these trees till the off season. When we arrived at our site, we were greeted by one of the campground officials, but we were not informed the site we were on had one of these trees that needed to be removed nearby. One of the campers personally messaged one of the owners to let them know what had happened. That next morning no one came by to check on the situation. We made contact with an employee at the main office where this gentleman took down our information so we could be contacted on how to go about making this right. I have also tried to contact via phone but have not gotten a response. We have been in contact with our insurance and our attorneys at this point to take the next steps to get our property fixed. Just to make everyone aware on their agreement they make you sign in order to stay there it does say they are not responsible for tree damages, I wonder why! However, due to the witnesses' statements and the campground knowing this issue they are negligent which easily could have resulted in someone getting seriously injured or killed. If you know which trees are dead, they should not allow campers to stay on these sites till these trees are removed. This is unfortunate as we really liked this campground and would love to return for future camping trips if this is resolved. I myself own a company and understand the importance of good reviews and customer satisfaction and would be willing to retract this review and give a great review if this is resolved.
Nov 02, 2024 · The Lewis'Great camp ground! I camped here for a full week in mid June. The campground was maybe half full. It’s super close to Tims Ford - less than a 5 minute drive. We opted here vs the park because they have full hookups. The bathhouse was super nice! The loops are nice and very scenic with lots of grass and trees. My only dislike is that some of the spots are very, very close together. We stayed in a standard spot #4. Neighbors were super close on each side. They do have preferred spots that offer more spacious lots though. Pay attention to the pad length. They are various sizes. Some are really short and would only fit a scamp or tear drop style camper. One great perk is free wifi! It was a very strong connection. We were able to stream tv on multiple devices at the same time. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. It is a very quiet, peaceful camp ground. I’d highly recommend it.
