Honn Campground Introduce
For local residents searching for "camping near me" in the Hat Creek, California area, Honn Campground, located in Hat Creek, CA 96040, offers a promising option based on recent user reviews. This introduction will detail the environment, services, and features of Honn Campground as described by those who have experienced it, providing an objective overview for potential local campers.
The environment of Honn Campground is frequently highlighted in the reviews. One camper noted that a creek flows through the campground "very well all year round," which is a significant positive, often providing a pleasant natural ambiance and opportunities for water-related activities. The same reviewer also mentioned "excellent shade," particularly beneficial during the midsummer heat, making it a comfortable camping destination even during warmer months. Another reviewer corroborated the beauty of the location, specifically mentioning that "Hat Creek is full of trout," indicating that Honn Campground is likely appealing to those interested in fishing.
In terms of services and features, the reviews provide some insights. One camper mentioned "clean restrooms," which is a fundamental and appreciated amenity at any campground. The same reviewer also described the "camping price" as "great," suggesting that Honn Campground offers an affordable option for local campers. While not explicitly detailed, the presence of restrooms implies that the campground likely has basic facilities to support campers.
The location of Honn Campground is also noteworthy. It is situated next to the highway, which, as one reviewer pointed out, is the only potential downside. However, this proximity to the highway also offers advantages, such as "easy access to the highway and other spots to fish along the creek and even Baum and Crystal lakes." This makes Honn Campground a convenient base for those planning to explore the wider Hat Creek area, including its renowned fishing spots and nearby lakes. Additionally, the campground is reported to be "about 10 minutes or so from town and shopping" and roughly the same distance to "Lake Britton and State Park," further enhancing its appeal for those who appreciate having amenities and recreational areas within easy reach.
One reviewer mentioned that Honn Campground is "usually full," although the "turnover is pretty quick." This suggests that it is a popular spot, likely due to its positive attributes, but that there might still be opportunities to find a site, especially for shorter stays. The same reviewer recommended it as "definitely worth checking out if you're only staying for a couple nights," implying it's well-suited for weekend getaways for locals looking for "camping near me."

Honn Campground Reviews
although not open yet this is a very nice campground! I first stayed here a very long time ago. The only downside is it's next to the highway otherwise it would be absolutely amazing. Creek flows through very well all year round The shade is excellent. definitely worth checking out if you're only staying for a couple nights. by the way the creek looks good so maybe the fishing will be excellent this year! it's also a good place to stage if someone is fishing hat Creek and wants easy access to the highway and other spots to fish along the creek and even Baum and Crystal lakes. also it is about 10 minutes or so from town and shopping about the same to lake Britton and State Park. The shade here especially in midsummer is excellent and the campground is usually full although the turnover is pretty quick.
Mar 20, 2024 · Peter PrevostBeautiful place Hat Creek is full of trout. Met some great people there and are still friends with them. Clean restrooms and the camping price is great. Would have stayed longer but it was closing for winter and was getting below freezing.
Mar 27, 2018 · Tim RossTypical forest service campground but right next to the road. A nice little creek behind it. Fire pits were not cleaned out and we were there mid week?
Aug 12, 2023 · Greg StewartMy favorite campground around hat creek. It on the honn creek which is stocked often. Only six sites in the campground so it can fill up quick. Quiet and peaceful with great fishing from your site
Jul 15, 2018 · Derek HerrickGreat little spot next to a creek to pull off for the night or stop for a break during your travels. It is small and close to the road. Trailers are not recommended.
