Hat Creek Hereford Ranch RV Park & Campground Introduce
For local users searching for "camping near me" in the Hat Creek area, Hat Creek Hereford Ranch RV Park & Campground, located at 17855 Doty Rd, Hat Creek, CA 96040, USA, and reachable at (530) 949-7266 or +1 530-949-7266, presents a camping option with scenic potential but also some significant concerns raised by recent visitors that warrant careful consideration.
One positive aspect highlighted in the reviews is the environment of the campground. One visitor who stayed in site 61 reported having a "great 3 days" with a view overlooking a "beautiful meadow with cows feeding in it." This suggests that the campground offers some campsites with pleasant pastoral scenery, providing a tranquil and picturesque backdrop for a camping experience. The presence of grazing cows could be a unique and appealing feature for nature lovers and those seeking a ranch-like setting.
However, alongside this positive feedback, there are serious concerns raised regarding the advertised amenities and the responsiveness of the management. One reviewer recounted a negative experience upon arrival, discovering "AFTER check in" that their site had "NO power, NO pump out," despite these being advertised services. When attempting to address these issues, the staff interaction was reportedly unhelpful. The person at the desk, while described as "very kind and polite," referred the guest to the camp host, who claimed to be unable to provide any information and instead directed them to the camp owner. Despite calling and leaving a message for the owner, the call was "never neverreturned," indicating a significant lack of follow-up and communication regarding service failures.
This lack of resolution and communication prompted the dissatisfied visitor to strongly recommend that anyone traveling in the area "pay the extra 15 night and go to the KOA 10 miles up the road." This comparison directly suggests that a nearby alternative campground is perceived to offer a more reliable and satisfactory experience, particularly concerning essential RV amenities and customer service. The reviewer concluded with a damning statement, "I don't think these folks care about the people there," reflecting a profound dissatisfaction with their experience and the perceived lack of concern from the campground management regarding the advertised services and guest issues.
Based on these limited reviews, the environment of Hat Creek Hereford Ranch RV Park & Campground appears to offer scenic views of meadows with grazing cows, at least from some campsites. This could be a significant draw for those who appreciate such natural settings and a more rural ambiance. The ranch setting might also imply a certain level of open space and a different atmosphere compared to more traditional campgrounds.
However, the services at this RV park and campground are called into serious question by the negative review. The failure to provide advertised amenities such as power and pump out upon arrival is a significant issue, particularly for RV travelers who rely on these services for a comfortable and functional stay. The lack of communication and resolution from the management regarding these service failures further compounds the problem, suggesting potential unreliability in the provision of advertised amenities and a lack of customer support when issues arise. While a water hookup isn't explicitly mentioned as missing, the absence of power would also impact the use of many RV features that rely on electricity.
The features of Hat Creek Hereford Ranch RV Park & Campground are not extensively detailed. The scenic meadow views with cows are a notable feature for some sites. The fact that it is advertised as an "RV Park & Campground" suggests that it caters to both RVs and tent campers, although the reviews primarily focus on the RV experience. The availability and quality of other common campground features, such as restrooms, showers, water hookups (separate from pump out), fire pits, or picnic tables, are not mentioned in the provided feedback, making it difficult to assess the overall infrastructure and amenities beyond the reported issues with power and pump out.
There is no promotional information available for Hat Creek Hereford Ranch RV Park & Campground in the provided reviews. The positive mention of the meadow view could be considered an implicit promotion of the scenic potential of some campsites. However, this is heavily overshadowed by the negative experience related to the lack of advertised services and poor customer service, which serves as a strong cautionary note for potential visitors.
For local users searching for "camping near me," Hat Creek Hereford Ranch RV Park & Campground presents a location with the potential for a pleasant natural setting, particularly for those who appreciate views of grazing cows in a meadow. However, the serious issues raised by a recent visitor regarding the failure to provide advertised RV amenities (power and pump out) and the lack of responsive customer service from the management cannot be ignored. The direct recommendation to choose a nearby alternative campground (the KOA) further underscores the potential risks associated with staying at Hat Creek Hereford Ranch based on this feedback.
Prospective visitors, especially those traveling in RVs and relying on specific amenities, are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution and potentially seek more recent and comprehensive reviews from other sources before making a reservation. It would also be prudent to contact the campground directly using the provided phone numbers to inquire specifically about the current status and reliability of all advertised amenities, as well as their policies for addressing service failures and customer concerns. Asking about the availability of restrooms, showers, water hookups, and other standard campground features would also be essential in getting a complete picture of what the facility offers.
In conclusion, while Hat Creek Hereford Ranch RV Park & Campground may offer scenic views from some campsites, the reported issues with the lack of advertised services (power and pump out) and the poor customer service experienced by at least one recent visitor raise significant red flags. Local users searching for "camping near me," especially those with RVs, should be aware of these potential problems and consider the strong recommendation to explore alternative campgrounds in the area for a more reliable and satisfactory camping experience. The lack of management responsiveness to reported issues is a serious concern that potential guests should weigh carefully before choosing this location for their camping needs.

Had a great 3 days in site 61. Overlooking a beautiful meadow with cows feeding in it. Will definitely return !
Apr 30, 2025 · Ed MoultonArrived and AFTER check in found out we had NO power, NO pump out, as advertised. We asked about the issues, the very kind and polite person at the desk referred us to the camp host who told us she couldn't tell us anything, referred us to the camp owner. we called owner who never neverreturned our call/message.I would recommend anyone going in this direction to pay the extra 15 night and go to the KOA 10 miles up the road.I don't think these folks care about the people there.
Sep 26, 2024 · kevin jonesThis was for a music/wine festival weekend (9/15/24) the park was full. Nevertheless the facility was adequate and everyone was enjoying the RV Park. The location is so quiet with lots of stars out at night! We will definitely return on non-festival time to fully enjoy the park and surrounding areas!
Sep 17, 2024 · Larry LoggerUsed to be a great campsite but it seems greed has ruined the park. We had people encroaching in our spot with 2 large RVs along with trash in our firepit. We also had zero shade and it was over 104° for multiple days so we had to leave a day early. We had tried to camp from 7-12 to 7-15 but couldn't stay due to the heat and lack of shade. Along with the fact they're charging an insane amount just to fish when they've already doubled their reservation prices. Honestly it's not worth it anymore and I'm not the only one who agrees, several other campers we've spoken to expressed similar issues as well. I give it 5 more years until it either shuts down or a lawsuit happens due to the safety and liability issues they're sure to have.
Jul 17, 2024 · Officer KittenThis is a great campground and RV park. My family has been going here for years and it's always a great experience. They have trailer spots and tent spots all nestled within a grove of pines surrounding by green acreage grazed by cattle (no smells, btw). The bathrooms and showers are clean. There's a little wifi by the office and no cell signals, so you can unplug and relax. The store has ice, bottled water, snacks, and lots of other goodies.
