Hat Creek Campground Introduce
Looking for "camping near me" in Northern California? Hat Creek Campground, located in Old Station, CA 96071, USA, presents a camping option with proximity to the natural beauty of the region. You can reach them at (530) 335-7517 or +1 530-335-7517. Situated in the vicinity of Lassen National Forest, Hat Creek is often mentioned as a place where visitors can enjoy the outdoors, with opportunities for fishing by the creek and hiking in the surrounding area.
Based on available information, Hat Creek Campground is located alongside Hat Creek, suggesting a creek-side environment. One reviewer noted the area as "always beautiful and peaceful" and appreciated the coolness by the creek. This kind of setting often provides a tranquil atmosphere, with the soothing sounds of flowing water enhancing the camping experience. The presence of a creek naturally lends itself to potential wildlife sightings and a generally refreshing environment, especially during warmer months. The proximity to Lassen National Forest implies that the campground is likely surrounded by forests, offering shade and a sense of being immersed in nature.
Information regarding the specific services and amenities at Hat Creek Campground is somewhat varied, particularly when considering recent customer feedback. One review paints a concerning picture, describing a "rundown, old & dirty" facility. This guest who stayed in a "deluxe cabin C2" reported issues such as a non-flushing toilet, the presence of ants and spiders, and a dilapidated deck deemed unsafe. This experience led them to leave after only one night, expressing strong disappointment with the condition relative to the price paid.
Conversely, another reviewer described the location as "always beautiful and peaceful," suggesting that the natural setting itself is a significant draw. Typically, campgrounds offer basic amenities such as campsites, and potentially cabins or other lodging options. Given the contrasting reviews, it's difficult to provide a definitive list of services without further objective information. Potential amenities could include restrooms, water sources, and designated camping or lodging areas, but their condition appears to be a point of contention based on the provided feedback.
The reviews highlight fishing and relaxation as potential features and activities at or near Hat Creek Campground. One positive review specifically mentioned the ability to "fish, hike or just relax enjoying the outdoors," and noted the pleasant coolness by the creek. This suggests that the creek itself is a central feature, offering opportunities for fishing directly at the campground. The proximity to Lassen National Forest would also provide access to numerous hiking trails of varying difficulty levels, allowing visitors to explore the natural beauty of the area.
However, the negative review mentioned that the presence of families with children throwing rocks into the creek deterred fish and negatively impacted the reviewer's children's ability to fish. This indicates that while fishing is intended to be a feature, the actual experience might be affected by other campground guests. Despite this, the general location suggests that outdoor activities such as fishing and hiking are likely available.
Hat Creek Campground, situated near the scenic Lassen National Forest in Old Station, California, offers a creek-side setting that some visitors have found to be "beautiful and peaceful," ideal for those looking to "fish, hike or just relax." The coolness by the creek can be particularly appealing. If you are seeking a location with natural surroundings and opportunities for outdoor activities like fishing and hiking, Hat Creek Campground might be a consideration.
Points to Consider:
- Creek Access: Enjoy the ambiance and potential for fishing along Hat Creek.
- Proximity to Nature: Located near Lassen National Forest, offering access to hiking trails and natural beauty.

However, it is crucial to acknowledge recent feedback indicating significant concerns about the condition of at least some of the facilities, specifically a "deluxe cabin," which was described as "rundown, old & dirty" with issues like a non-flushing toilet, pests, and an unsafe deck. This reviewer felt their experience was not worth the price paid.
Given this contrasting feedback, potential visitors are advised to seek more current and detailed information about the specific type of accommodation or campsite they are considering. Contacting the campground directly at (530) 335-7517 or +1 530-335-7517 might provide further insights into the current conditions and available amenities. While the natural environment around Hat Creek may be appealing, it's important to have a clear understanding of the campground's upkeep and services to ensure a satisfactory experience.
For local users looking for "camping near me," Hat Creek Campground offers a location with creek access and proximity to Lassen National Forest. However, recent reviews suggest the importance of verifying the current condition of facilities before booking to align expectations with reality.

Hat Creek Campground Reviews
Booked a 3 night stay and we left after first night, place was insanely rundown, old & dirty and just gross..we purchased a deluxe cabin C2 to be exact, toilet would not flush which was a nightmare, there were ants everywhere and spiders we were constantly killing in the cabin.. The deck is so old raggedy and dirty, It feels like you’re about to fall right through the rotten boards, so we didn’t want to go out on it. This place is not worth almost $200 a night!! Completely disappointed .. supposed to be a fishing resort but they have families with ton of kids running around screaming throwing rocks constantly in the creek scaring all the fish away.. all my two boys wanted to do was catch some fish and couldn’t even get the opportunity too!! We will never stay there again!!!

Jun 11, 2023 · Liza AldereteIt’s a beautiful spot with some nice individual sites that permit you to keep some distance from the RVs or other sites. But not enough distance. Our stay was ruined by an RV group blasting loud music to the entire campground. We’d already paid for the weekend, but we left on the first night. I think dispersed camping or backcountry camping are the only options available in California if you want peace and quiet in the outdoors. No camp host to turn to for help.
Jul 05, 2024 · HalWe have been coming here since we were children and know we bring our children and always have a great time enjoying nature, camping and fishing.
