A Lakeside Environment Perfect for Family Fun
The central feature of Baker Bay Campgrounds & Marina is its location on the shores of Dorena Lake. This lakeside setting provides a picturesque backdrop for a variety of outdoor activities. The availability of boat access suggests that visitors can enjoy exploring the lake by boat, whether for leisurely cruises, fishing excursions, or watersports. The reviewer's childhood memories of going "out on the lake on the boat" underscore the long-standing appeal of this aspect of the campground.
For families with children, the designated swim area offers a safe and supervised space for kids to enjoy the water. This is a significant amenity, providing peace of mind for parents while allowing children to have fun swimming and splashing in the lake. The combination of lake access for boating and a dedicated swim area caters to a wide range of water-based recreational interests.
The presence of a playground further enhances the family-friendly atmosphere of Baker Bay Campground. This provides a dedicated space for children to burn off energy, socialize, and enjoy outdoor play. The reviewer's recommendation to consider adding a canopy over the playground to provide shade during hot days indicates that this amenity is well-used and appreciated, highlighting the campground's focus on catering to families with young children.
Services and Amenities for a Comfortable Stay
One of the notable services at Baker Bay Campgrounds & Marina is the on-site snack bar. Open during the daytime, it serves lunch and early dinner, offering a convenient option for campers who don't want to cook every meal. The menu, which includes popular items like hot dogs, sandwiches, and "freeze its" (likely frozen treats), provides quick and easy meal options. The ability to walk up to the window to order and then eat by the water or back at your campsite adds to the relaxed and convenient atmosphere of the campground. The positive review of the food suggests that the snack bar is a well-regarded amenity.
While the reviews don't provide extensive details about the campsites themselves, the mention of camping alongside swimming and boating suggests that there are designated areas for setting up tents or parking RVs. The overall impression is that Baker Bay offers a more amenity-rich experience compared to purely rustic campgrounds, with features like the snack bar and playground indicating a focus on visitor comfort and convenience.
The fact that one reviewer was searching for the campground under a different name suggests that it may have had a previous name or that its current name might not be widely known by all. Baker Bay Campgrounds & Marina Reviews
I didn't know it was called Baker Bay Campground I've been looking for it under the wrong name. We went here all the time when I was a kid and camped and swam and you went out on the lake on the boat I loved it there. There's a snack bar that's open during the daytime that serves lunch and early dinner by Hot Dogs sandwiches freeze it's really good you to walk up to the window and Order and then go sit down by the water or go back to your campsite and eat, really good food!!!
May 02, 2025 · Lisa AllenGood family place to camp. With a play ground for kids and a designated swim area. What I recommend to the park is look into adding a giant canopy over the playground. The slides get too hot during the day.
May 17, 2024 · Shelby SullivanPretty cool spot. Because the showers aren't open it limits how "clean" you'd feel everyday. Plenty of room to walk around and not feel like you are on top of each other . Everyone seemed in a good mood and that was a plus. The staff was really accomodating if there is ever a question and they drive around with wood for $5 if needed at around 5pm. Kids had a great time in the water as well!
Sep 01, 2020 · Jon WilsonThe park host was really friendly and helpful, the park is clean and a great camping experience. AVOID all but the main bathroom by the showers because they are GROSS!
Jul 06, 2019 · Walter SachaIt's a super well kept campground with awesome people and owners. The water is always super comfortable to swim in and a lot of fun. The water trampoline is also super fun and has a good price. Monday through Thursday are the least busy days
