Banning Stagecoach KOA Journey Introduce
If you're searching for "Camping Near Me" in the vicinity of Banning, California, the Banning Stagecoach KOA Journey located at 1455 S San Gorgonio Ave, Banning, CA 92220, USA, presents itself as a potentially convenient option, particularly for those seeking an overnight stop during their travels. Reachable by phone at (951) 849-7513 or +1 951-849-7513, this campground, part of the KOA Journey network, has garnered a range of feedback from recent visitors that prospective campers should consider.
One recurring observation from reviews is the campground's suitability for a "convenient for overnight stay." Its location appears to make it a practical stopping point for travelers passing through the area. However, it's important to delve deeper into the specifics of the camping experience based on the provided feedback.
Several reviewers have commented on the dimensions and levelness of the campsites. One visitor with a 35-foot motorhome noted that the "sites are not that long," requiring them to "disconnect our tow vehicle on a pull through." This suggests that while pull-through sites are available, they may not comfortably accommodate larger RVs with attached vehicles without unhitching. Additionally, the same reviewer pointed out that the sites are "not particularly wide nor level." This lack of levelness necessitated the "fully extend two jacks" and even then, the motorhome was "not completely level front to back." Campers with leveling systems should be prepared for potentially uneven terrain.
While the large size of the park was mentioned, the condition and amenities seem to be areas of concern for some visitors. One reviewer described the "location is sketchy," with the "only upside" being "the hills in the background." This subjective comment suggests that the immediate surroundings of the campground may not be particularly appealing to all visitors, and the scenic backdrop might be the primary positive environmental aspect noted.
A significant point of criticism revolves around the cleanliness and functionality of the bathroom facilities. One review stated that "the bathrooms are filthy, with hair/trash/clothing left on the ground." This strongly indicates a lack of adequate cleaning and maintenance. The same reviewer also noted that "half the toilets in the men’s room were out of service," raising concerns about the availability of essential facilities. Furthermore, the bathrooms were reportedly "closed/locked before 9pm," which could be highly inconvenient for campers needing access to these facilities during the evening and night. The reviewer speculated that this early closure might be "due to being located in the cuts," implying potential safety concerns, although this is not explicitly stated by the campground itself.
Interactions with staff also appear to be a point of concern for some visitors. One reviewer specifically mentioned the "front desk woman with the UK accent was generally unpleasant." While this is a subjective experience, it's a piece of feedback that contributes to the overall impression of the campground's hospitality.
Another notable limitation mentioned is the absence of traditional fire pits. The campground reportedly does "not have fire pits, only grills raised fairly high off the ground so you can’t have a campfire." For many campers, having a campfire is an integral part of the camping experience. The high-mounted grills may not provide the same ambiance or functionality for those wishing to enjoy a traditional campfire setting. However, the campground does permit guests to "bring your own fire pit," which could be an alternative for those who prioritize having a campfire.
Based on these cumulative experiences, one reviewer concluded, "Definitely not a KOA worth staying at. It’s too bad this is the closest one to Los Angeles." This strong negative sentiment suggests that this particular KOA location may not meet the expectations often associated with the KOA brand, particularly for those traveling from or to the Los Angeles area who might have limited alternative options nearby.
Considering the feedback, while Banning Stagecoach KOA Journey might serve as a large and conveniently located park for an overnight stay when passing through the Banning area, potential campers should be aware of the reported limitations. These include potentially short, narrow, and unlevel sites that may require disconnecting tow vehicles and extensive leveling efforts. Concerns have also been raised regarding the cleanliness and functionality of the bathroom facilities, their early closure, and potentially unpleasant interactions with staff. The lack of traditional fire pits, although allowing personal fire pits, might also be a drawback for some. The surrounding location has been described as "sketchy" by one reviewer.
For those seeking a longer camping experience or prioritizing amenities and site quality, the reviews suggest that exploring alternative campgrounds in the wider region might be beneficial. However, for travelers specifically needing an overnight stop in the Banning area, Banning Stagecoach KOA Journey remains an option, albeit one where managing expectations based on recent feedback is advisable. It is recommended that potential visitors contact the campground directly at the provided phone numbers to inquire about current site availability, specific site dimensions, and any recent updates to their facilities or policies.

Banning Stagecoach KOA Journey Reviews
Large park, convenient for overnight stay. Sites are not that long, our motorhome is only 35 feet long, we had to disconnect our tow vehicle on a pull through. Sites are not particularly wide nor level, either. I needed to fully extend two jacks, and even then did not get completely level front to back. We would stay again if passing through, but I would opt for something else if we wanted a longer stay.

Apr 21, 2025 · Katherine BergThe lady working there that I dealt with was very pleasant. She was super accommodating and went above and beyond for me.2 aggressive German shepherds were allowed to run free during my visit. They both began attacking my beagle in my campsite. I had to throw blocks at them to get away, and they just stood 10 feet away barking until I got us inside. I waited 5 minutes and tried to go back out again but was armed this time with a hammer, and they came back around. I grabbed my dog and went back in. I called all the koa numbers I could find for assistance and never received any before i left. I called animal control, but they weren't open. The dump station is locked, so if your hose doesn't reach the odd location of the ones on site, you're out of luck. I asked to use the dump station, and they were sending someone who never showed. Some of the families that live there aren't respectful of other's spaces. Kids were playing in the middle of MY campsite, looking inside of my RV. Very uncomfortable.Nothing is nearby, place rundown, aggressive unleashed animals, no dump facilities, inconsiderate families, nice staff.
Dec 21, 2024 · Jonathan MooreWe have stayed at several KOA’s over the last few years. This occasion, we just needed a quick overnight stop, which worked well. Service for Afterhours check in was good. If you’re looking for the “typical KOA” experience however, this is not it. Very basic with alot of full time residents.
Feb 25, 2025 · ToddFatherHad a lovely staycation! We loved the quiet. And we loved the views! Our friends who joined us for a couple of days right next to our site have said the same thing!
